UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HENRY CLAY BASOOM, OF LANSINGBURG, AND FRANCIS RITOHIE, OF TROY` NEW YORK.
DESiGN FOR A HEATING-STOVE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 20,189, dated October 7, 1890.
Application iiled September 8, 1890. Serial No. 364,350. Term of patent 8% years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, HENRY CLAY BAsooM and FRANCIS RITCHIE, citizens of the United States, residing, the said BAscoM at the village of Lansingburg, county of Rensselaer, and State of New York, and the said RITCHIE at the city of Troy, in said State and county, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Heating-Stoves, of which the io following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part thereof and consisting of a single figure, affording a view in perspective of our newlydesigned stove.
x 5 The leading feature of our new design consists in the ornamentation of the various parts.
The base A of the stove is provided with a plain border-band A' around its lower porzo tion on the sides. The front side of the base is also provided near its upper portion with a horizontal row of ribs A2, the individual ribs extending diagonally across the row. The row of ribs is divided at its middle part by an ornament A, consisting of a raised portion having foliated branches. The corners of the base are each provided with a foliated ornament A4. The sides of the base are provided with upper border-ribs A5, together 3o forming a rectangular ligure on the upper side of the base. rIhe circular fire-pct A6 rises from the top of the base and is inclosed by the rectangle described by the ribs A5. Mounted upon the tire-pot is the cylindrical combus- 3 5 tion-chamber A7. The combustion-chamber and repot are provided at their line of junction with a radially-projecting flange A8, provided at its outer edge with a plain band A9, and intermediately of such band and combustion-chamber with two horizontal rows of openings A10 and A, one within and above the other. The body of the combustion-chamber has a plain surface and is provided with two rectangular doors B and B', one above the other. The lower door B is provided with a central circular raised register portion B2 and with a honeysnclrle ornament Ba in each corner, also with a smaller honeysuckle ornament near the middle edge of each side. The upper door B' is provided with a hori- 5o zontal row of oval mica openings B5 and foliated ornaments, one each side of the individual openings. The upper end of the combnstioxrchamber is surmounted by a top or cover, which has its middle horizontal divis- 5 5 ion or zone O domeshaped and encircled by a series of inverted honeysuckle ornaments C and its lower horizontal division Oi encir cled on its upper part by a series of small foliated ornaments C3 and on its lower part by 6o a plain band C4.
Vvfhat we claim as new is- 1. The ornamental design for a heatingstove, herein shown and described, consisting of a base having on its upper outer surface raised portions or ribs, forminga rectangular ligure, a circular irepot mounted upon such case and inclosed within such rectangular iigure, a cylindrical combustion chamber mounted upon such lire-pot, provided with 7o two rectangular doorsone above the otherhaving foliated ornaments thereon, a circular flange projecting from the combustionchamber at its line of junction with the tire-pot, provided with two horizontal rows of openings, and a dome surmounting the combustion-chamber and provided with horizontal rows-one above the other-of foliated ornaments.
2. In a design for aheating-stove, the orna- 8o mental design on the base, herein shown and described, consisting of a plain border-band on the lower portion, a foliated ornament on each corner, a horizontal row of ribs on the upper portion of one side, having the individual ribs diagonal to the row, a foliated ornament in the middle of the row of ribs, and border-ribs on the upper portion of the sides, together describing a rectangular figure.
