SAMUEL IV. MARTIN, OF SPRINGFIELD, OHIO.
DESIGN FOR A GAS STOVE OR HEATER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 29,239, dated August 16, 1898.
Application filed May 25, 1898. Serial No. 681,750- Termof patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SAMUEL XV. MARTIN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Springiield, in the county of Clark and State of Ohio, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Gas Stoves or Heaters, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
This invention has reference to a new and useful design for gas stoves or heaters.
Figure 1 represents a front elevation of said stove or heater, and Fig. 2 an end elevation of the same.
The leading feature of my design consists in a body having a lower and upper section with a divisional belt between them. The lower section has an opening in its front, through which appear columns, and the upper section has perpendicular standards mounted upon said belt and between which appear columns having a double set of circumferential ornamentations upon each column.
The letter A represents a base having perpendicular faces B O D rising one above the other, similar to a succession of steps. These faces extend entirely around the base, the faces B 0 being connected by an outwardcurved surface E, while the faces 0 D are connected by the inward-curved surface F. This base is supported upon legs G. On the upper surface or ends of these logs are carried corner ornamentations H, which are so shaped that they lit the faces and surfaces of said base. Projections I extend from these end ornamentations, having the appearance of screwheads. Upon this base A is mounted the body of my new design, consisting of a casingJ, having an opening K in its front with rounded upper corners, as shown at L. Within this opening appear columns M, each of which has an annular ornamentation consisting of three annular notches N, two beads O, and a plain surface P, arranged as shown in the accompanying drawings. A belt extending entirely J and consists of a perpendicular face Q with a convex surface R rising fromithe upper plane of said face Q and connecting with a face S, which is within and above the face Q. A perpendicular standard rises from said belt at or near each corner. Between these standards and also rising from said belt are perpendicular columns T, each of which has a double set of circumferential ornamentations consisting of annular beads a, annular grooves b, and a flat surface 0, one set being near the lower end of said columns and the other set being near the upper end of said columns. A crown U surmounts said body, being rectangular in form and having two perpendicular faces V and WV, respectively, extending entirely around the same. The face V is shorter than the face IV. These faces are connected by a convex surface X, which also extends entirely around said crown. By referring to the drawings it will be seen that the lower face of said crown is scalloped, as shown at Y. Upon each corner of said crown is placed a corner ornament Z, which is of the proper contour to fit the faces V and IV and the surface X. From these ornaments extend projections d, which have the appearance of screw-heads. A top 6, pyramidal in outline, is carried by said crown, and along its upper edge is shown a cylindrical cresting f, having rounded ends 2'. Upon these rounded ends may be seen an annular beadj. The front and rear surfaces of said top are configurated with numerous openings, as shown at It in Fig. 1, while the end surfaces are plain, as shown at Z in Fig. 2.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim is- The design for a gas stove or heater herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
SAMUEL W. MARTIN.
Witnesses:
