UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
SAMUEL WV. MARTIN, OF SPRINGFIELD, OHIO.
DESIGN FOR A GAS STOVE OR HEATER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 29,237, dated August 16, 1898.
Application filed May 25, 1898. Serial No. 681,748. Term of patent '7 years.
To ctZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SAMUEL W. MARTIN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Springfield, in the county of Clark and State of Ohio, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Gas Stoves or Heaters, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
This invention relates to a new and original design for gas stoves or heaters.
Figure 1 is a front elevation of a stove or heater showing my design, and Fig. 2 an end elevation of the same.
The leading feature of my design consists in perpendicular standards supported upon a rectangular base, between which are shown circular columns, and said standards and columns being surmounted by a rectangular crown.
The letter A represents a base supported by legs 13, which slant outward from the base, as shown in the accompanying drawings. The base itself presents three perpendicular faces arranged one above the other, which decrease in length as they are elevated above the lower onethat is, the second one, which I have lettered B, is shorter than the lower one, which I letter A, while the upper one, which I have lettered O, is shorter than B. The connecting-surface O, connecting the faces B and O, is curved inward. This same general contour is carried entirely around the base of the stove. On each of the corners is secured a plain ornament D, which has a contour which matches the side and end perpendicular faces, as also the curved surfaces connecting said perpendicular faces. Two projections extend from these end or corner ornaments, which have the appearance of screw-heads.
At each corner of the base perpendicular round standards E are shown. These round standards E have mounted upon them a crown F, which has two perpendicular faces G and II, respectively, extending around the entire stove. The face II is scalloped, as shown at I, the two faces being connected by an outwardly-curved surface J. Corner-ornaments K fit the face II and the surface J and extend up a short distance and fit against the face G. From these end ornaments project extensions having the appearance of screw-heads.
Projecting upward from the crown F is a top M, pyramidal in form and having a cylindrical cresting N along its upper edge with rounded ends 0, each having a bead P thereon.
Between the round vertical standards E and the base and crown A and F, respectively, are mounted three perpendicular columns Q, parallel to said standards and to each other. Near each end of these columns are shown annular ornamentations R R. The ornamentation R consists of two annular beads a and two annular depressions or grooves b, as also an interposed fiat annular surface 0, while the lower ornamentation R consists of two annular beads d, one annular groove 6, and an interposed flat surface f. These columns and perpendicular standards form the body of my new design.
Referring again to the top M, it will be seen that a number of openings S extend through the same when viewed in front, while the end face of said top is plain, as shown in side view.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim is- The design for a gas stove or heater, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
SAMUEL IV. MARTIN.
Witnesses:
