DESIGN FOR A LOCK-CASE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 24,311, dated `May 14, 1895.
Application filed March 2, 1895. Serial No. 540,363. Tem of patent 3% years.
To aLZZ whom it may concern.'
Beit known that I, HENRY H. DENT, acitizen of the United States, residing at Fullerton,in the county of Lehigh and State of Pennsylvania, have invented and produced a new and original Design fora Lock-Case, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part hereof, in which- Figure l is a front elevational view of a lock-ease, illustrating the shape or form of my design. Fig. 2 isa sectional view of the same; and Fig. 3 is an edge view, these three views being deemed necessary in order to fully illustrate my design.
The leading feature of my design consists of a lock oase, comprisingthe raised surface ornamentation of leaves merging into a sprayer bouquet, the outlines of which when viewed in Fig. l, will fall within the outline of the lock case, the leaf ornaments radiating from approximately the center of the face of the lock-case at or near the key-hole thereof.
Referring to the drawings A, is the face of the case in which is situated a`key-hole.
B and B', are the outer rims of the lookcase irregular in outline and conforming to the outline of theleaf ornamentation C, radiating from the face A.
On the face A, and the rims B and B', of irregular outlines are arranged the ornamentations C, of a eonventionalized fern-leaf. These ornamentations radiate from a ribbon knot ornament D, situate near the key-hole. The ornament D, of the face A,is a continuation of the flowing ribbon-like ornamentation E, falling among the leaf ornaments C, on either side or the knot-ornamentD. The leaf ornaments C, are arranged in fields radiating from the ornament D, to the corners F, of the face A, and from said ornament D, to the outlines G and G', of the rims B and B'. The upper rim B, has its surface ornamented with the three fern-like ornameutations C', two of the leaves forming substantially in outline a wreath H, while the third leaf is represented as thrown across the wreath H. On the surface of the lock-case between the outer outline of the wreath H, and the face A, extends the conventionalized aeanthus leaf ornamentation J. The lower rim B', has its surface ornamented with the two fern-like ornamentations C2, represented as intertwined or crossed to form the conventonalized acanthus leaf ornaments J, on the look case extending from the corners of the face A, to the tips of the leaf ornaments C2, and irregular contour G', of the rim B. On each side of the ribbon-knot ornament D, the face of the lock-case is ornamented with raised ornaments K. Beside the ornaments K, the surA face of the lock case is ornamented with a raised ornament L, forming in outline a continuation of the ornaments K. The face of the ornament L, has artistically displayed the acanthus ornaments J', aud the two leaf ornaments C, represented as crossed and intertwined with the ribbon ornamentE. One edge of the face A, is ornamented with the c orrugations M, as illustrated in Fig. 3, of the drawings.
What I claim is- The design for a lock-case, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my signature in the presence of two subsorib ing witnesses.
HENRY Il. DENT.
