DESIGN FOR CARPETS.

Specification forming part of Design No. 6,249, dated November 19, 1872.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ALFRED HEALD, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, have invented a Design for a Carpet-Pattern, of which the following is a specification:

The main features of my design (which is fully represented in and by the accompanying draw in g) are the central figure A and the surrounding figures B and O, the latter approximating in general outline to the shape of squares or diamonds and joining each other at the corners. The oblong figure A has a scroll-like border, a, a central ornament, b, and ornaments d d, at its opposite ends, all of a character too clearly shown in the drawing to need descrip tiou. Each figure B is composed of two sets of radiating arms, f and g, of the same general character, except that the arms f which I extend to the corners of the figure, are the longest, and the whole of the said arms have the interior foliated ornamentation shown. The figures (3 have each an ornamented ribbon-like border, 9, a central ornament, h, and ornaments 41 extending beneath the border and joining the opposite ends of the oblong figure A.

The design for a carpet-pattern, substantially as described, and as illustrated in and by the accompanying drawing.
