HENRY KRIECHBAUM, OF ST. CHARLES, MISSOURI.
DESIGN FOR A PIPE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 27,738, dated October 19, 1897. Application filed June 26, 1897. Serial No. 642,543. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY KRIEcHBAUM, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of St. Charles, in the county of St. Charles and State of Missouri, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Smoking- Pipes; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, which forms a part of this specification.
The leading feature of my design consists in the peculiar ornamentation given to the outside or circumference of the bowl and stem.
In the accompanying drawing, the figure represents the ornamentation of the surface of a tobaccopipe according to my improved design.
In the said drawing, the reference-numeral 1 designates the bowl, tapering from the top to the bottom; 2, the stem, and 3 the mouthpiece, of the pipe.
The outside or circumference of the bowl has formed upon it a number of ornamental patterns a, arranged in vertical rows, so as to break joints with each othertl1at is to say, these patterns are alternately arranged in different horizontal planes. The patterns have curved ends I) and are shaded, so as to have the appearance of being in relief.
The numeral 2 designates the stem, tapering from end to end and provided with a plain mouthpiece at the outer end. The remaining portion of the stem, or that part between the mouthpiece and the bowl, is ornamented by means of a number of oblong patterns 1*, arranged to break joints and shaded so as to appear in relief.
hat I claim is The design for a tobacco-pipe consisting of the bowl having upon the periphery thereof, a number of ornamental patterns,with curved ends, arranged in different horizontal planes and shaded so as to have the appearance of being in relief, the tapering stem formed With a series of ornamental oblong patterns arranged to break joints, and shaded so as to have the appearance of being in relief, substantially as shown and described.
