Be it known that I, ARTHUR L. HALLIDAY, a resident of Yonkers, in the county of Westohester and State of New York, have invented and produced, by my own industry, genius, efl'orts, and expense, a. new and original Design for a Carpet, of which the following is a full description, in connection with the accompanying photograph, which represents a face view of my new design for a carpet.

This invention relates to a new ornamentation of the face of a carpet, oil-cloth, or analogous fabric.

In the accompanying photograph are represented the various parts which enter into my new design.

A is a group of flowers and leaves appearing to spring from a support, B. C is agroup Term ol' patent 3.3 yeflrs.

of flowers and leaves placed next to a geometrical figure, D. E is a spray. F is an other floral group. G, H, I, and J are groups. of which each has a rosette-like body and curvilinear arms extending therefrom. L is a small group of flowers and leaves.

I claim 1. The design for a carpet, the same consisting of the figures A, B, O, D, E, F, G, H, I, and J, substantially as shown.

2. The design for a carpet, the same consisting of the figures A, B, G, D, E, F, G, H, 9 I, J, and L, substantially as shown.
