OR D289070 DESIGN.
T. P. GREGER. MANHOLE COVER.
WKW,
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
THOMAS P. GREGER, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
DESIGN FOR A MANHOLE-COVER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 28,070, dated December 21, 1897.
Application filed October 8, 1897. Serial No. 654,597. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whont it may concern:
Be it known that I, THOMAS P. GREGER, a citizen of the United States, residing at the city of Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Manhole-Cover, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part thereof, in Which- Figure 1 is a top or plan view of a manhole cover, showing the particular shape or configuration of the cover of my said design; and Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view on the line a: m of Fig. 1 of the drawings, these two views being deemed essential to a proper disclosure in detail of the leading feature of my invention, consisting of the shape or configuration of the manhole-cover of my said design.
As illustrated in the drawings, the cover A is substantially dish shape in cross-section. The top surface of the cover is provided with a series of inwardly-projecting curved and perforated ornaments a, as illustrated in Fig.
1, and the walls of these perforated ornaments are made cone shape or tapering, as illustrated in Fig. 2. The cover has also two block-like ornaments G, disposed opposite, or substantially so, to each other, and adjacent thereto and located toward the periphery of the same are provided two block-like openings D, and around the top edge or rim of the cover are provided concentric ridges or grooves b, as clearly illustrated in Fig. 1 of the drawings.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The design for a manhole-cover, substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my signature in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
THOMAS P. GREGER.
