DESIGN FOR A MANHOLE-COVER.
SPECIFICATION formingpart Of Design No. 30,695, dated May 2, 1899.
Application filed April 6, 1899. Serial No. 712,020. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it 'nmy concern;
Be it known that l, THOMAS 1. GREGER, a citizen of the United States, residing at the city of Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented and produced a new and original Dcsign for a ManholeUover, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part hereof, in whieh Figure 1 is a top or plan View of a manholecover embodying my design, and Fig. 2 is a cross-sectional view on the line of Fig. 1, these two views being deemed essential or necessary fora propel-illustration and understanding of the design of my invention.
The leading feature of my design for a manhole-cover consists of the shape or configuration and on tline of the cover.
Referring to the drawings, (6 represents the slightly-convex bottom of the coverand with it peripheral base-ri in or rest a, Which is curved in outline and extends from the face of the rim or rest to the under surface of the bottom.
[I is a flaring Wall extendingupwardly from the bottom Ct and provided with an inner ledge or seat 0, having a curved outline, as clearly shown in Fig. 2, and from theledge or seats the wall of the cover flares or tapers, as at c, to the top of the Wall 0 Opposite each other in the rim are block-like ornaments (Z (Z, provided with oblong openings (1 d and with transverse openings (Z (1*, leading therefrom, as clearly shown in Fig. 2 of the drawings.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for a manhole-cover, substantially as herein shown and described.
