DESIC N.
Patantad May "5, I899.
T. P. GREGER. MANHOLE COVER FRAIIL (Applicutian Med Apr. 22, 1899,)
Ill;
EJMIZ W UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
THOMAS P. GREGER, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
DESIGN FOR A MANHOLE-COVER FRAME.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 30,811, dated May 16, 1899.
Application flied April 22, 1899. Serial No. 714,116. Term of patent 14 years.
To mil whom rt may concern:
lie it known that I, THOMAS P. GnEonR, a citizen of the United States, residing at the city of Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Manhole-Cover Frame, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part thereof, in which Figure 1 is a top or plan view of a manholecover frame, illustrating my design; and Fig. 2 is a cross-sectional view on the line a: a: of Fig. 1.
The two views are deemed necessary for a proper illustration and disclosure of the char acter of my said design.
The leading or essential feature of my design consists of the manhole-cover frame structure made the subject of illustration and having the outline or configuration hereinafter described.
Asillustrated in the drawings, n: represents a flat base of annular or ring shape, the inner periphery a being bent upward to form a seat for a cover. On the bottom of this base is formed a downwardly-projecting annular rib a, which in cross-section is substantially triangular. From the base and concentric with its perpheries extends the vertically-arranged circular wall I), having its upper end outwardly flared, as at b, to form a seat for a second cover. At the base of the wall I) and radially disposed with respect to the central point of the frame are arranged the substantially sqilare shaped hollow projections d, the opening (1' of each of which is parallel with the base a of the frame and extends entirely through the wall 1?. The wall b is reinforced by the radially-arranged ribs f, which, viewed in side elevation, are substantially triangular with the apices terminating in the wall I) at the point I) where said wall flares outwardly. The base of these ribs f terminate in the base a of the frame.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for a manhole-cover frame, substantially as illustrated and herein described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my signatn re in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
THOMAS P. GREGER.
