UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
IIIESTER A. BOIVERS, OF READING, PENNSYLVANIA.
DESIGN FOR A COVER FOR VESSELS OR PANS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 28,261, dated February 8, 1898.
Application filed November 18, 1897. Serial N0. 659,046. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HIESTER A. BoWERs, a citizen of the United States, residing at Readin g, in the county of Berks and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and original Design for Covers for Vessels or Pans, of which the following is a specification.
Figure 1 is a perspective View of a fryingpan cover showing my new design. Fig. 2 is a. plan view of the same. Fig. 3 is a vertical sectional View on the plane indicated by the dotted line 3 3 of Fig. 2.
The leading feature of my design consists of a dome-shaped cover having a multiplicity of perforations in the upper part thereof, an annular trough or channel around the base of the dome, and an oifstanding horizontal flange exterior to the trough or channel.
As shown by the drawings, the dome 1 of the cover is provided in its upper part with a multiplicity of perforations 3, which are disposed in circles concentric with the center of the cover. These circular series of openings 2 are provided only in the upper part of the dome, and the lower part of said dome isiinperforate, as at At the base of the dome is an annular trough or channel 4, V-shaped in cross-section, and around this trough 4: is a horizontal flange 5, which is exterior to the dome and the trough and is concentric to the center thereof. This offstanding horizontal flange 5 occupies ahorizontal plane above the bottom edge of the trough or channel, an d the latter thus protrudes below the lower face of said offstanding flange.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The design for a cover for vessels or pans, as herein shown and described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I have hereto affixed my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
