FRONT CLOSED.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JAMES G. SMITH, OF CLEVELAND, OHIO.
DESIGN FOR A HEATING-STOVE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 17,884, dated November 15,1887.
Application filed October 8, 1987. Serial No. 251,863. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, JAMES G. SMITH, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cleveland, in the county of Ouyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Designs for Stoves; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My design relates 'to stoves, of which the following is the specification.
Referring by letter to the accompanying drawing. A indicatesa stove ofapproximately rectangular contour. The stove is mainly covered with ornaments composed of a vine bearing branches and leaves. Upon the top of the stove is a pedestal, and mounted upon the pedestal is a deer in a partly-elevated position. At a short distance below the top isa lateral flange bearing corner scrolls. Beneath this flange are a series of annular recesses, each of which bears the representation of a female head or face. and the whole is inclosed by right lines. From the ends of these right lines the body of the stove becomes enlarged. In the front is a door divided into squares by rectangular lines, and in each square is a scroll connected in pairs, and beneath this door is a smaller door, which is also divided into squares and ornamented with scrolls. At the base of this latter door is another flange of greater diameter than the upper flange, which is also ornamented with scrolls, and has a space for any suitable name. Below this latter flange is a door bearing parts of leaves, rosettes, 8m, and ornaments having ends formed in halfovals united by straight lines. Ihe lower portion of the stove is then surrounded bya round bar, and has a skirt-flange with a scroll edge and an ornamentation of twigs and leaves, and rests upon a board of rectangular form having rounded corners.
Having described this invention, what I claim is The design for a sto ye herein shown and described, the same consisting of a rectangular body ornamented with scrolls, twigs, leaves, and branches, a pedestal on the top, and a deer mounted on the pedestal, substantially as shown.
In testimony whereoflatfix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
FRANK N. WILCOX, S. G. SMITH.
