UNITED STATES PATENT OEEIcE.
\YlLLlAIil ll. LAXDERS, 0i" SYRACUSE, AND FRANCIS KERNAN, JR, Ol U'IICA, ASSIGNURS TO THE F YRAFUSFl STOVE VORKR, OF SYRACUSE,
NEW YORK.
DESIGN FOR A HEATING-STOVE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 20,438, dated December 30, 1890.
Application filed June 28, 1890! Serial No.35'7,l60, Term f patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, WILLIAM H. LANDERS and FRANCIS KERNAN, J1-., citizens of the United States, residing, respectively, at Syracuse, county of Onondaga, and Utica, county of Oneida, and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Stoves, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accom pan yin g photograplnforming part thereof.
The accompanying photograph is a perspective of our design and is deemed sutficient to fully illustrate the same.
The leading feature of the design consists in a raised base and top having depressed panels ornamented with scroll-work, fluted or ribbed side columns depressed below the plane of the base, raised bars extending transversely at the extremities and central portion of the side columns, and depressed surfaces between said bars, having thereon raised panels ornamented with scroll-work and configuration.
A represents the stove-base, having its central portion a in substantially a straight plane and the extremities a in adownwardly-curvin g plane.
A represents a series of depressed panels on the stove-base, formed by a series of bars A and ornamented by scroll-work.
B represents the stove-top, having its bottom and top edges in substantially straight planes and its side edges in curved planes, with a series of panels B thereon, formed by bars I) and ornamented by scrollwork.
B represents an upwardly-proj ectin g ornament at the top of the stove-top of rounding cross-section, with its side edges formed by a union of curved and straight lines.
0 represents the side columns of standards depressed below the plane of the base A, of rounding cross-section and tinted or ribbed transversely. At the top central portion and bottom of the raised side columns (1 are transversely-extending bars 0' C C ornamented with scroll-work and raised above the plane of said side columns, with the outer face of the first two in a curved horizontal plane and of the latter in a substantially straight horizontal plane.
D D represent the central depressed surfaces between the bars 0, and (J and D D raised panels on said surfaces, the former being ornamented with a circular panel and scroll-work and the latter by a series of depressed panels and scroll-work.
l1 represents projecting side bars on either side of the stove-body, having their face depressed below the plane of the side columns, and E represents bars raised above the bars E and extending transversely across and beyond the same.
This peculiar combination of surfaces of different contour in ditferent planes and orn amented with scroll-work and configuration composed of curving and straight lines presents a very pleasing and attractive appearance to the eye and enhances the beauty and salability of the stove.
Having thus fully described our invention, what we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for stoves, substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof we have hereunto signed our names, in the presence of two attesting witnesses, at Syracuse, in the county of Onondaga, in the State of New York, this 20th day of June, 1890.
