GEORGE HENRY PHILLIPS, OF GENEVA, NEW YORK.

DESIGN FOR A COOKING-STOVE.

To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, GEORGE HENRY PHIL- LIPS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Geneva, in the county of Ontario and State of New York, have invented and produceda new and orignal Design for Stoves, of which the following is a speciication, reference being had to the accompanying photograph, forming a part thereof.

The photograph is an isometric perspective of my invention and is deemed adequate to fully illustrate my design.

The leading feature of the design consists in a base having at its outer edge a series of beads, projecting legs beneath the beads, scroll-Work abovethe lower edge, and a ribbed or fiuted top molding above the scroll-work, a body portion within the plane of the base having ribbed or fluted vertical bars, raised panels on the body formed with rounding, tinted, or ribbed edges, a raised ornamental surface on one of the panels, and scroll-work at t-he edge of said raised surface, a shelf having a flaring base and top, a contracted central portion, beaded or ribbed sides and top edges, scroll-work adjacent to the beads, and a rounding central panel having raised scrollwork.

The base A is essentially rectangular in form, having downwardly-extending legs A', formed with a rounding ornamented outer face. Beads or bars B extend lengthwise at the lower edge of the base, and just above the lengthwise beads are sections of scroll-work C, which are separated by a series of shorter beads B'.

D represents the ribbed or fluted top bar of the base, which is of rounding cross-section. The appearance produced by this peculiar arrangement of beads, scroll-work, and ribbed bar is very pleasing and adds a desirable iinish to the base of the stove,-

corrugated edges g, the end panels G and G2' having thereon ornamental scroll-work and the central one a raised surface H of an irregular outline and a configured outer face. At the edge of the surface H is a scroll-Work I. At the top and bottom of the body E, at its side and front, are raised bars E', and between the said bars on the front of the stove are panels E2,having a configured outer surface formed of plane and curving surfaces and curved and straight lines.

J represents the shelf at the upper part of the stove, having a flaring top and base and a contracted center; j, the beaded sides and top edge of the shelf, and j' the scroll-work adjacent to the beads. At the top of the shelf .I is a bar J', and beneath this bar'is the raised panel K, having the raised scroll-work L, consisting of a vertical central bar and compoundly-curved bars by intersecting the central bar.

The herein-described design is Very pleasing in appearance, causes the stove to present both a simple, neat, and ornamental appearance, and greatly adds to its salability.

The design for stoves', substantially as herein set forth.
