ATTEET. INVENTEIFF. W EDWARD CV ){OFFM/MV 72; caywfihw Y ATTY UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
EDWARD C. HOFFMAN, OF CLEVELAND, OHIO.
DESIGN FOR A HINGE MEMBER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 33,856, dated January 8, 1901.
Application filed December 10, 9901 e ifi 39,440. Term of patent '7 years,
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDWARD O. HOFFMAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cleveland, in the county of Ouyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Hinge Member, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part thereof.
The figure of the drawing shows my new and original design in perspective front elevation.
As thus shown, the essential features of novelty in the said design consist in the design as a whole, and these features, separately considered, comprise especially the decorative and attractively fashioned extremities 2 of the design and the two similar arms 3, rising up out of the body of the hinge at one edge and extending outward beyond said edge and having their base running into its middle portion. The said arms are finished with rounded extremities having openings 4: in their centers. Subordinate to these features, because less conspicuous, and hence not so noticeable nor material, is the plain surface 5 between the base of arms 3 and a bridge-like strip 6 at the rear edge of the design between the decorated extremities or sides 2, but rising up somewhat in relief from the top plane or surface of said sides, as clearly appears, and also apart from the plain surface 5 farther in.
\Vhat I claim is The design for a hinge member, substantially as herein shown and described.
Witness my hand to the foregoing specification this 4Eth day of December, 1900.
EDNVARD O. HOFFMAN.
