HEATING STOVE.
No. 21,801. Patented Aug. 23, 1892.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
IVILLIAM N. MOORE, OF JOLIET, ILLINOIS.
DESIGN FOR A HEATlNG-STOVE.
SPECIFICATION forming' part of Design No. 21,801, dated August 23, 1892.
Application tiled July 9, 1892. Serial No. 439,551. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whoml t may concern:
Be it known that I, NVILLIAM N. MOORE, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city of Joliet, in the countyof fill and State of Illinois, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Heating-Stoves, of which the followingr is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, showing said design and forming a part of this specification.
My design relates te the ornamentation of the outer ease of the heating-stove, the leading features of which are fully set forth and described in the following specification and claims.
Referring to said drawing, P represents the outer case of the stove, which case is square and has corners Il, representing spiral columns, and rests on the base G,whieh has on its outer sides the figures of lanceolate leaves arranged to point upward and contiguous to each other. The sides and front of the case P are ornainented alike, so that a description of the ornamentations on one will do for each. The back of the stove is plain and the stove proper is within said ease and independent thereof. The case l has a molded ornarnental belt F, that divides the sides and front into two parts at about their center, and the sides and front are provided with ornamental open-work panels immediately above and below said belt F, the upper panel in front having a door A. For ornamentation the panels below belt F and above base G have the circular rosette ornaments a and c arranged in a horizontahiine across the center of the panel, the eenter rosette a being larger than the others. From the sides of the rosette a spring volutes r, extending both upward and downward, and turn toward each other both above and below said rosette, so as to till the spaces both above and below said rosette. From the volutes r spring the volutes S, that extend laterally both above and below the rosettes c and turn toward the corners of the panel, so as to till the spaces above and below said rosettes. The panels immediately above said belt F (shown at A) are inclosed by a rope-molding ornamental border arched at the top, and for ornamentation said panels have a vertical ornamental shaft I), having the volutes li springing from its sides near its upper part as branches and turning downward at the sides of said shaft and incorporated with the vertical shafts .I for their support and to till the spaces at the sides of shaft D. The panels above the panels A are provided with the same character of rosettes a and c as the panels below the belt F and are surrounded with a similar open volute work as said lower panels. The urn-base R is formed of radial arms O, similar to spokes of a wheel, and for ornamentation has leaf-shaped arms N, arranged between said arms O, as shown. The urn K for ornamentation has on each side a rosette n and has scalloped work lV and Vr" both above and below said rosette, and between said scalloped portions and surrounding and between said rosette the sides of the urn are ornamented with ornamental scroll figures, and the wings X of said urn are ornamented with volutes springing upward and turning toward the top of the urn, as shown.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is as follows, to wit:
1. In a design for a heating-stove, the design for the lower section between the central belt F and the base G, embracing the three rosettes a c c, arranged in a horizontal line with each other in the central part of the panel, and the volutes r, springing from the sides of the central rosette (ly and extending both above and below the same and turned toward each other, and the volutes S, springing from the volutes f' and extending horizontally both above and below the rosettes u and turned toward the corners of the panel, as set forth.
In a design for a heating-stove, the design for the base-section, comprising the ornamentation of the laneeolate leaves pointed upward and arranged contiguous to each other, as set forth.
3. In a design for a heating-stove, the design for the upper section, comprising the ropeanolded margin having the arched top and the vertical central bar having the vosaid columns and at either side of said belt, ro lures springing from its sides near its upper as set forth.
part and turned downward at each side of The design foraheating-stove,as herein said bar and incorporated with other Vertical shown and described.
bars, as set forth.
4. In :i design for a heatingstove, the de- VILLIAM N. MOORE. sign for the body of the stove, comprising the Witnesses: spiral columns H and the molded horizontal THOS. H. IIUTCHINS,
belt If :1nd the ornnniented panels between K. (l. IUTCHINS.
