DESIGN FOR A HEATING-STOVE.
SPECIFICATION forming part; of Design No. 13,019, dated July 4, 1882.
Application filed April 3, 1882. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that l, EDGAR W. ANTHONY,
of Boston, in the county of Suffolk and State of Massachusetts, a citizen of the United States, have made a certain new and useful Design for Stoves, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying photograph, forming a part of this specification, to which reference is made in explaining its nature.
' The general features of the design are represented in the accompanying photograph, and embrace, besides the general form and proportion of the stove as a whole, the especial form and ornamentation of the legs, base portion, rail, body, upper door and frame, topplate, and urn. The stove as a whole embraces a base, A, which is, with the exception of the rounded flue portion at the rear,substantially rectangular in shape and wider on the front than it is deep, and is made of cast metal; also, a body, B, which is oval in cross-section, made ofsheet metahrelieved by the lines of corrugations, and having upon its front an ornnmental plate, I), and door b, and the top plate and cover, 0, which are also oval in horizontal section, and are inclined from near the center of the cover to the edge of the plate, as represented, the cover being surmounted by an nrn, D, if desired. These features slIOllld havegenerally theshape and proportion shown by the photograph; but the specific ornamentation may be modified and changed nsdesired. The rear pipe, containing the down and up take passages, 1 do not consider as an especial feature of the design.
The special design for the stove-leg mnbraces the curved foot portion 0, the plain section c,and the upper section, a, ornamented by figures and scroll-work. The base A comprises the lower base-plate, a, the upper baseplate, c,and from; and end sections,a o As stated, this portion of the stove is rectangular, and is wider than it is deep. The greater 1 portion of the front is taken by the ash-pit door a, which has rounded corners and oval damper-holes and is ornamented by figures and lines, as shown in the photograph. The front plate, to which the door is hinged, is plain, except the upper portion, a. the base has the two pillars a a which are Each corner of alike in every detail, except that one is upon the frontor back and the other is upon the end of the stove. Each pillar has a separate ornamental pedestal or base and rounded or cut-away corners and front ornamentation, as represented. Between the pillars, and forming thccorner of the base,is thcplain,rounded, or curved column,a the base and top of which correspond in ornamentation to the base and top of the pillars. Between the side pillars of the stove is the plate or panel n all shown in the photograph, and the lower and upper ornamental portions, (0 a, which follow the shape of the corresponding parts of the pil' lars.
The body B preferably has three lines of raised beads or moldings, b, about its lower section, three lines, I), about its central section, one line, I), about its upper section, and the lines I) at its top.
The features of the door-plate b are so well shown by the photograph that further description of them is unnecessary.
The shape and ornamentation of the door I) is also well represented by the photograph. It may have a micalight, ifdesircd.

The name-plate l, shaped and ornamented as shown, may be fastened it! the frontof the top plate, it'dvsired. Immediately below the top plate theie inn) be nrrnngod the openwork hand G. The shape nnd ornamentation 0f the urn l) and its supports are well illustrated by the photograph.
The rail ii is somewhat above lhe bnsc portion, and comprises the front section, It, which is curred in cross-section, has :1 plain top, nnd outer and don'nwardLr extcndlng section ornnmentcd by alternate projections and recesses, as shown, and the side sections, It, which extend from the front section near either end lmcluvnrdly, are st rztig'ht n pon thei router edge, with the exception of projections It", and at their juncture with llll top rail are spread or extended indwnrdly. The upper surface of the side rnil may be ornamented with scro" Jfllk, and the upper surface of the upper baseplate, a, may be also ornamented, if desired.
The edges of the two base-plates and of the top plate may be polished.
