DESIGN FOR A COOKING-STOVE.

Specification forming part of Design No. 5,156, dated August 1, 1871.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that we, NICHOLAS S. VEDDER and FRANCIS RITCHIE, each ofthe city of Troy, in the county of Rensselaer and State of New York, have jointly invented and produced a new and original Design for Stoves and Ranges, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying photographic representation of a cooking-stove having our said design.

One part of our invention consists of the compound panel ornament A, shaped and arranged upon a door or plate of a stove or range so as to appear substantially as represented in the aforesaid photograph. Another part of our invention consists of the combination of the central ornament A and corner border ornaments B, all shaped and arranged together upon a door or plate of a stove or range so as to present substantially the appearance shown in the photograph. Another part of our invention consists of the compound ornament C, shaped and arranged upon a door, plate, or leg of a stove or range, substantially as shown in the aforesaid photograph. Another part of our invention consists ofthe combination of the central ornament O and corner border ornaments B all shaped and arranged together on a door or plate of a stove or range substantially as shown in the photograph. Another part of our invention is the design for the leg D of a stove or range, as distinguished by the ornament O, swelling surface c, and ornamentations f g g, all shaped and arranged together as shown in the photo graphic representation aforesaid. Another part of our invention is the design for the ash-pit cover H, as distinguished by the flat top t', border-ledgej, and loW pivot-lug k, all in combination, substantially as shown in the photograph. Another part of our invention is the design for the front side L of the ash-pit, as distinguished by the straight inclined upper part m and the curved inclined lower portion n, combined and arranged together substantially as represented in the accompanying photograph, Without regard to the particular form of moldings or ornaments thereon.

What we claim as our invention is 1. The compound panel ornament A, shaped and arranged as herein described.

2. The combina-tion of the panel ornament A and corner border ornaments B, shaped and arranged as herein set forth.

3. The compound ornament O, shaped and arranged as herein described.

4. The combination of the panel ornament O and border ornaments B, arranged together as herein specied.

5. The design for the leg D, as herein described.

6. rIhe design for the ash-pit cover H, as herein described.

7. The design for the front side of the ash-pit, as distinguished by the combined straight and curved portions m n, as herein set forth.
