To all whom it may concern.-
it known that I, GEORGE W. SWEIT, of the village of Lansingburg, county of Rensselaer, State of New York, have invented and produced a new and useful Design for Oil- Stoves, of which the following isa specification.
My invention relates to a design for the shape and surface ornamentation of oil-stoves, and as the same is shown in the accompanyroiug photograph, forming a part of this specification, the several parts of it being indicated byletter reference, and of which the following is a description.
The letter B indicates the stove-body, having an overhanging top T, and this top T is made to have on its outer edge a down wardly and outwardly tapering baud-molding, M.
The letters E designate the sides, and E the front, the said sides and front being rectilinearly placed with reference to the base and top.
The letter M indicates a molding in cymatium, that is arranged on the body immediately beneath the overhang of the top, and this molding M is ornamented with vertical fiutings t, and the sides and front are made with the horizontal projecting base-molding f The letters 0' designate relief foliated ornaments on the front of the body immediately beneath the overhang of the top, and at each side of the name-plate thereon.
The letters 0 designate relief leaf-form ornaments 0n the body at the front and bottom of the latter, and at each side of the nameplate.
The letters 0 indicate foliated relief ornaments on the front of the body between the doors.
The letter H indicates the stove-base, which laterally projects beyond the body part, and is ornamented on its upper edge with flutingsf. The sides S of the base, and front S thereof, taper downwardly and outwardly, with their lower edges scallopcdout, as indicated at h, this bottom edge being notched at intervals, as indicated at n. The downwardly and outwardly projecting sides of the base at the corners are laterally and outwardly extended, as at b, to form the tops of the feet F, and the latter, where extended laterally from the body, are rounded at the front and projected downwardly and out wardly tothe bottom. The doors I) close against the stove-front, so as to be in relief thereon, and the door-frames have pilasters 1), arranged between the panes, said pilasters being ornamented with relief foliated sprigs m. bordered by a fillet,f", and at the tops are ornamented with a W-forIn ornament, 3 extended downwardly from the top into the pane-areas, and having thereon, as pendent therefrom, a trefoil ornament, 2'. these doors has two panes; but the number of the panes may be increased or decreased, provided the same ornamentation is applied to them in detail, substantially as described and shown.
