Description

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HENRY J. DAVIES, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
DESIGN FOR JEWEL-CASE AND CLOCK.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 11,746, dated April 27, 1880.
Application filed March 22, 1880. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY J. DAVIES, of the city of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have originated and produced a new Design for a J ewel-Oase and Clock, of which the following description and the accompanying drawings are a specification.
Figure 1 in the drawings is a perspective View, and Fig. 2 represents, in outline, the vertical profile of the front and sides of the jewel-case.
In this design thejewel-case A is the pedestal of the clock B. This pedestal, which is in the form of a parallelogram in its lorizontal section, is composed of base a, dado b, and surbase c c c2, and its top is semi-cylindrical, as shown in Fig. l. The base a tapers upward, and has at its corners feet d d, the form of which is shown in Figs. l and 2. lt is represented as having fillet-moldings e f at its bottom and top, respectively. The dado is also represented as having` fillet-moldings g g. The surbase is composed of an ovolo, c, and an upwardly and inwardly sloping member, c', united by a fillet-molding, c2. The cover A of the case formed by the pedestal A is of partly cylindrical form, and along its front edge is a projecting ornament of open foliated scroll-work, as indicated by h i j in Fig. 1.
The case of the clock B, which is represented of cylindrical form, is encircled by a band, D, which is supported on the pedestal A by means of standards E E, of invertedbracket like form, which connect the said band with the ends of the pedestal A. These standards E E are composed of foliated scroll-work, as indicated by k l m in Fig. 1.
The surfaces of the several members of the pedestal A may be plain or ornamented in bas-relief, and so may the band D.
What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. The design of the pedestal, consisting, essentially, of the base a, dado b, and surbase c, having the profile configuration herein shown and described.
2. The design of the ornament of the cover, consisting of foliated scroll-work, as herein shown, and indicated by h ij.
3. The design of the supports E E, consisting, essentially, offoliated scroll-work, as herein described, and indicated by k l m.
4. The design for clock and jewel-case, consisting, essentially, of the pedestal A and standards E and B, substantially as herein shown and described.
HENRY J. DAVIES.
