UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE,
FRITZ GOEREL, OF TROY, NEW YORK, ASSIGNOR TO Tll'l COOPERATIVE STOVE VORKS, OF SAME PLAGE.
DESIGN FOR A PARLOR-STOVE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 17,212. dated March 29, 1887.
Application filed February 8, 1887. Serial No. 226,987. 'l'crni of patent I years.
To all whom it may concern:
4Be it known that l, FRITZ GoEnEI., of the city of Troy, cou'nty of Rensselaer, State of New York, have invented and produced a new and ornamental Design for Parlor-Stoves, of which the following is a specification.
My design relates to the form and ornamentation of parlor-stoves, as the same is shown in the accompanying photograph, forming a part of this specification, in which the several part-s of the stove are designated by letters and the ornamentation by numbers, and as follows:
The letter T designates the top zone of the I5 stove, which is transversely cylindrical in form and smaller in its transverse diameter than the body part of the stove below it, and is coniposed ofthe dome D, ornamented with the recessed panels 1, having theinterorly-displayed sprigs 2, the fretted dome-base molding 3, the l'retted overhanging ovolo molding 4, and the cylindrical-form member 5, the latter being ornamented exteriorly by panels 6, which at the front contain the centrally-arranged medallion figure 7 and at the sides the centrallyplaced rosette figure 8, with said panels containingalso, arranged around said centrally placed figures, the scroll-work 9 and relief figures 10. i
The letter B designates the body part, which has a convexly-rounded front and sides, with pilastered corners arranged at right angles to each other; and` this body is made to laterally subtend the upper zone, T, and to be smaller in its lateral measurement than the ash-pit section A, that is below it. `This body part is formed with a platform-top, 11, where subtending laterally the top zone, and this platform-top has its front and side edges rounded outwardly between the eorners, which latter are projectingly rounded out, as at 12. The platform-top,has a dat molding, 13, -arranged thereon for the display of the tradename of the stove, and each of the corners of the platform-top has an upwardly-projected urn-form ornament, 14.
The letter P designates corner pilasters, which at the top are ornamented with a hooded gargoyle figure, l5, a leaf ornament, 16, below the latter, a column-cap, 17, and a leaf ornament, 18, extending to the bottom of the piA laster. The body part` below the overhang of the platform-top and where above the doors, has an ornamentation of scroll and vine-form figures, 19.
The frames of the upper doors, DZ, of the body part are exteriorly milled, as indicated at 20, and the vertical sash-Stiles have a chain ornamentation, 2l, terminating in a cap, 22, at the top. The corners of the doors are interiorly rounded, and the horizontal sash-bar 23 of the door-frames has arranged thereon the branching scrolls 24, with side bracket ornaments, 25, and a central ornament, 26.
The-bottom doors, D", have their frame exteriors milled, as indicated at 27, and their vertical stiles made with a cap and chain ornamentation, like the upper doors, D. The horizontal sash-bar of the lower doors (indicated at 29) is arranged ,in the frame so 'as to make the upper panes smaller than the lower, and their sash-bar is ornamented with abrauching scroll, 30. The body between the upper and lower doors has a projecting band-molding, 37.
The ash-pit section A is rectilinear in form, having an overhanging.platform-top, 38, that has rounded corners and the upper surface of which curves downwardly and outwardly, so as to overhang the walls of the asb-pitsection, this top having upon its upper surface the scalloped ornamentation 28 and the iilleted edge 39. The corners of the ash-pit section have pilasters 34, that curve inwardly and upward] y from their plinths 35 (which are molded and mitered) up to their foliated caps 36. The foot-rails R R each have a double bracket, 37, composed of the reversing convolnte scrolls 38 and 39, and one of these foot-rails is arranged at each side of the ash-pit section. The front of the ash-pit section is ornamented with a foot-rest, 58, which is attached to and projected from the front of the ash-pit door, and is therefrom extended downwardly, and has feet 40, which rest upon the base.
The base N is rectilinear in its transverse form, having rounded corners 41, and it is composed of the ogee molding 42, having seallops 43, dots 44, fret 45, and bottom llets, 46 and 47. This base has a curtain, 48, arranged between the feet F. The lower and pendent edge of this curtain is scalloped, notched, and
ICO
llleted, and the curtain exterior face, where between the fillets, is ornamented with a centrally-arranged medallion figure, 50, and at the corners by a wreathed medallion figure, 51, and the lscroll-work in relief, 52. The lower edge of this curtain is notched, scalloped, and filleted.
The feet F have in their front vertical face an incurve ornamented with three birds talons, 53, arranged in relief between a bordering fillet, with the body ofthe feet at their inner face curving in forni to correspond with that of their front face. rlhe sides of the feet 54,Where extended dow nwardly from the stove base, join the footrest in oppositely-reversing ogee curves, and the foot-rest of each foot has its front vertical face rounded at Having thus described my design, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, 1s-
