Винахід належить до вдосконаленого способу одержання похідного аспартаму, придатного як підсолоджуючого засобу. Спосіб одержання складного метилового ефіру N-[N -(3,3-діметилбутил) -L- б-аспартил] - L - фенилаланіну формули I: Розчин аспартаму і 3,3-діметилбутиральдегіду при кімнатній температурі обробляють воднем при відносному тиску, рівному або нижче 1 бар (0,1 МПа), у присутності каталізатора на основі платини або паладію.
