제1도는 본 발명의 원리를 설명하기 위한 요소구성을 나타낸 등가회로도, 제2도 및 제4도는 제1도의 기본구성에 인가하는 전압파형을 나타낸 도면, 제3도는 액정의 투과광 강도와 인가전압의 관계 및 본 발명에 의한 전압의 효과를 나타낸 도면.
Claims (12)
- 용량을 개재하여 제1배선에 접속된 화소전극을 매트릭스 형상을 지녔으며 또한 전술한 화소전극에는 화상신호배선(2)과 주사신호배선(1)에 전기적으로 접속된 스위칭 소자가 접속되어 화소전극과 대향전극의 사이에 보전된 표시재료를 교류구동하는 표시장치에 있어서, 스위칭소자의 온하는 기간에 화상신호전압을 화소전극에 전달하여 스위칭소자의 오프하는 기간에 제1배선에 1피일드마다에 전압이 역방향으로 변화하는 변조신호를 부여함에 따라 전술한 화소전극의 진위를 변화시켜 전위의 변화와 화상신호전압을 서로 중첩 및 또는 상쇄시켜서 표시재료에 전압을 인가하는 것을 특징으로 하는 표시장치의 구동방법.
- 제1항에 있어서, 스위칭소자의 온하는 기간에 전달하는 화상신호전압이 표시화면의 1주사선마다에 신호 전압의 극성을 반전하여 스위칭소자의 오프하는 기간에 제1배선에 부여하는 변조신호가 1주사선마다에 극성을 반전하는 것을 특징으로 하는 표시장치의 구동방법.
- 제2항에 있어서, 스위칭소자의 오프하는 기간에 제 1배선에 인가하는 극성을 반전한 변조신호 Ve(+), Ve(-)의 절대치가 다른 것을 특징으로 하는 표시장치의 구동방법.
- 제3항에 있어서, 스위칭소자의 온하는 기간이 종료하기 전에 변조신호의 전위의 일부를 변화시키는 것을 특징으로 하는 표시장치의 구동방법.
- 제3항에 있어서, 스위칭소자가 TFT(박막트랜지스터)이고, 1주사선마다에 부여하는 극성을 반전한 정부의 변조신호를 각각Ve(+), Ve(-)주사신호의 전위변화를 Vg이라 정의하여 축적용량, 게이트.드레인사이용량, 소오스, 드레인사이용량을 각각 Cs, Cgd, Csd이라할 때 전술한 변조신호 Ve(+), Ve(-)와 주사신호전압의 변화(Vg)의 관계가 CsVe(+)+CgdVg=CsVe(-)-CgdVg를 만족하는 것을 특징으로 하는 표시장치의 구동방법.
- 제1항 또는 제2항에 있어서 액정표시장치의 대향전극의 전위가 적어도 각 피일드기간으로 일정함을 특징으로 하는 표시장치의 구동방법.
- 제1항 또는 제2항에 있어서 액정표시장치의 대향전극의 전위구 일정하고, 신호전압의 평균적 중심전위에 일치함을 특징으로 하는 표시장치의 구동방법.
- 제1항에 있어서, 대향전극의 전위가 전기적으로 부유의 상태에서 보전되어 있음을 특징으로 하는 표시장치의 구동방법.
- 제1항에 있어서, 제1배선이 주사신호배선과 공용하게 되는 전기적구성을 이루고 변조신호를 주사신호에 중첩하여 주사신호배선에 인가하는 것을 특징으로 하는 표시장치의 구동방법.
- 제1항에 있어서, 대향전극, 신호배선표시전극 사이의 평균적 직류전압이 CgdVg/ C보다 작은 것을 특징으로 하는 표시장치의 구동방법(단, C : 1 화소당에 지닌 전체정전용량).
- 제1항에 있어서, 액정의 투과률이 변화하는 전압범위를 Vth에서 Vmax이라 하고 변조신호를 Ve(+) 및 Ve(-)축적용량, 게이트·드레인사이용량, 소오스·드레인사이용량, 액정의 용량을 각각 Cs, Cgd, Csd, Clc이라 할 때 다음식 △V*=(Ve(+)+Ve(-))Cs/2Ct, Ct=Cs+Cgd+Csd+Clc에 따라 정의하게 되는 V*가 Vth=△V*=Vmax을 만족하도록 Ve(+), Ve(-)이라 설정하는 것을 특징으로 하는 표시장치의 구동방법.
- 제10항에 있어서 △V*가 △V*=(Vmax+Vth)/2을 만족하도록 설정하는 것을 특징으로 하는 표시장치의 구동방법.※ 참고사항 : 최초출원 내용에 의하여 공개하는 것임.
