Abstract

본 발명은 액정표시장치에 관한 것으로, 특히 각 화소를 구동하는 박막 트랜지스터의 게이트 전극과 소오스 전극 간의 기생 커패시터 및 트랜지스터의 누설전류에 의한 픽셀 전극의 전압변화(△Vp)를 감소시켜 화질을 향상시키기에 적당한 액정표시장치의 구조 및 구동방법에 관한 것이다.
이와 같은 본 발명의 액정표시장치의 구조는 복수개의 게이트 라인 및 데이타 라인과 각 화소를 스위칭하는 박막트랜지스터와 화소전극이 배열되어 있는 제1기판, 공통전극이 구성되는 제2기판, 그리고, 제1, 제2기판사이에 채워지는 액정으로 구성되는 액정표시장치에 있어서, 상기 공통전극은 각 라인 별로 구분하여 게이트 라인과 동일 갯수로 형성되고, 상기 각 공통전극에 각각 설치되어 공통전극에 인가되는 공통전압을 스위칭하는 복수개의 스위칭 소자와, 상기 각각 스위칭 소자에 플로팅 펄스를 인가하는 공통전압 플로팅 신호 드라이버를 포함하여 구성된다.
또한 본 발명의 액정표시장치의 구동방법은 공통전극이 라인별로 구분하여 복수개 형성되는 액정표시장치의 구동방법에 있어서, 각 공통전극에 인가되는 공통전압을 해당 라인의 게이트신호 펄스의 상승에지시에 공급하고 상기 해당 게이트신호 펄스의 하강에지시 직전에 차단한 것이다.

제4도는 본 발명 제1실시예의 액정표시장치의 등가회로도, 제5도는 본 발명에 따른 프로팅 신호 드라이브와 스위칭수단의 구성도, 제6도는 본 발명 제1실시예에 따른 액정표시장치의 픽셀 전극 전압 특성도, 제7도는 본 발명 제2실시예의 액정표시장치의 등가회로도.

Claims (3)

  1. 복수개의 게이트 라인 및 데이타 라인과 각 화소를 스위칭하는 박막트랜지스터와 화소전극이 배열되어 있는 제1기판, 공통전극이 구성되는 제2기판, 그리고, 제1, 제2기판사이에 채워지는 액정으로 구성되는 액정표시장치에 있어서, 상기 공통전극은 각 라인 별로 구분하여 게이트 라인과 동일 갯수로 형성되고, 상기 각 공통전극에 각각 설치되어 공통전극에 인가되는 공통전압을 스위칭하는 복수개의 스위칭 소자와, 상기 각각 스위칭 소자에 플로팅 펄스를 인가하는 공통전압 플로팅 신호 드라이버를 포함하여 구성됨을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치의 구조.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 스위칭 소자는 트리-스테이트 버퍼로 형성됨을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치의 구조.
  3. 공통전극이 라인별로 구분하여 복수개 형성되는 액정표시장치의 구동방법에 있어서, 각 공통전극에 인가되는 공통전압을 해당 라인의 게이트신호 펄스의 상승에지에 공급하고 상기 해당 게이트신호 펄스의 하강에지시 직전에 차단함을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치의 구동방법.
