Abstract
Description
カルボン酸化合物により、けん化度60モル%未満のポリビニルアルコール系重合体(B)をエステル化して得られるポリビニルアルコール系重合体(C)
を含む懸濁重合用分散安定剤が、上記した課題を解決するものであることを見出し、本発明を完成するに至った。
(PVA系重合体の分析)
(1)重合度の測定
JIS K6726にしたがって測定した。
(2)けん化度の測定
JIS K6726にしたがって測定した。
(3)カルボン酸変性量の測定
PVA系重合体1gをイオン交換水100gに溶解し、ODSカラムを用い、0.1Mリン酸二水素アンモニウム水溶液を移動相に用いて、30℃でHPLC測定を行った。未反応カルボン酸の定量結果から、カルボン酸変性量を求めた。
塩化ビニル重合体粒子について、粒度分布、可塑剤吸収性、残留モノマー量およびフィッシュアイ発生量を以下の方法にしたがって測定した。評価結果を表1に示す。
(1)塩化ビニル重合体粒子の粒度分布
JIS標準篩い42メッシュオンの含有量を重量%で表示した。
A : 0.5%未満
B : 0.5%以上1%未満
C : 1%以上
JIS標準篩い80メッシュオンの含有量を重量%で表示した。
A : 5%未満
B : 5%以上10%未満
C : 10%以上
数字が小さいほど粗大粒子が少なくて粒度分布がシャープであり、重合安定性に優れていることを示している。
(2)可塑剤吸収量
ASTM−D3367−75に記載された方法にしたがって、23℃におけるジオクチルフタレートの吸収量(%)を測定した。
(3)残留塩化ビニルモノマー量
塩化ビニル重合体粒子1gをテトラヒドロフラン25gに溶解して、ガスクロマトグラフにより塩化ビニル樹脂中に残留した塩化ビニルモノマー含有量を定量した。
A : 5ppm未満
B : 5ppm以上10ppm未満
C : 10ppm以上
(4)フィッシュアイ発生量
塩化ビニル重合体粒子100部、ジオクチルフタレート(DOP)50部、三塩基性硫酸鉛5部およびステアリン酸鉛1部を7分間150℃でロール練りして、厚み0.1mm、1400mm×1400mmのシートを5枚作製し、フィッシュアイの数を測定した。1000cm2当たりのフィッシュアイ個数に換算し、以下の基準で評価した。
A : 0〜3個であり、極めて少ない
B : 4〜10個であり、少ない
C : 11個以上であり、多い
(PVA系重合体(C)の合成−加熱処理法)
重合度550、けん化度50モル%のPVA系重合体(B)の粉末100重量部を、フマル酸1重量部をメタノール200重量部に溶解させた溶液に加えて膨潤させた後、減圧下40℃の温度で24時間乾燥を行った。次いで、窒素雰囲気下にて120℃で3時間、加熱処理を行いPVA系重合体(C)を得た。カルボン酸変性量は0.2モル%であった。
重合度850、けん化度72モル%のPVA系重合体(A)を塩化ビニル単量体に対して800ppm、上記PVA系重合体(C)を塩化ビニル単量体に対して400ppm、それぞれ脱イオン水に溶解させ、分散安定剤を調整した。このようにして得られた分散安定剤を、スケール付着防止剤NOXOL WSW(CIRS社製)が固形分として0.3g/m2になるように塗布されたグラスライニング製オートクレーブに仕込んだ。次いで、グラスライニング製オートクレーブにジイソプロピルパーオキシジカーボネートの70%トルエン溶液0.04部を仕込み、オートクレーブ内の圧力が0.0067MPaとなるまで脱気して酸素を除いた後、塩化ビニル30部を仕込み、オートクレーブ内の内容物を63℃に昇温して撹拌下で重合を開始した。重合開始時におけるオートクレーブ内の圧力は1.02MPaであった。重合を開始してから5時間経過後のオートクレーブ内の圧力が0.5MPaとなった時点で重合を停止し、未反応の塩化ビニルを除去した後、重合反応物を取り出し、65℃にて16時間乾燥を行い、塩化ビニル重合体粒子を得た。
表1に示すPVA系重合体(B)および不飽和二重結合を有するカルボン酸を用い、さらに表1に示す条件で加熱処理を行った以外は実施例1と同様にして合成されたPVA系重合体(C)を用い、実施例1と同様にして塩化ビニルの懸濁重合を行い、塩化ビニル重合体粒子を得た。塩化ビニル重合体粒子の評価結果を表1に示す。
カルボン酸化合物を用いずにPVA系重合体(B)の粉末を表1に示す条件で加熱処理を行った以外は実施例1と同様にして合成されたPVA系重合体(C)を用い、表1に示す使用量で実施例1と同様にして塩化ビニルの懸濁重合を行い、塩化ビニル重合体粒子を得た。評価結果を表1に示す。粗大粒子があり均一な重合体粒子が得られず、また残留塩化ビニルモノマーも多く、フィッシュアイも多かった。
表1に示す不飽和二重結合を有するカルボン酸を用いたが、加熱処理をしなかった以外は実施例1と同様にして塩化ビニルの懸濁重合を行い、塩化ビニル重合体粒子を得た。評価結果を表1に示す。粗大粒子があり均一な重合体粒子が得られず、また残留塩化ビニルモノマーも多く、フィッシュアイも多かった。
PVA系重合体(A)を用いず、PVA系重合体(C)のみを塩化ビニル単量体に対して400ppmに相当する量で用いた以外は実施例1と同様にして塩化ビニルの懸濁重合を行い、塩化ビニル重合体粒子を得た。評価結果を表1に示す。重合が安定に行えず、ブロック化した。
(イタコン酸変性PVA系重合体の製造方法)
撹拌機、窒素導入口、還流冷却器および添加剤導入口を備えた6L反応槽に酢酸ビニル1200g、メタノール1800gを仕込み、60℃に昇温した後30分間窒素バブリングにより系中を窒素置換した。コモノマーとしてイタコン酸をメタノールに溶解した濃度20%溶液を調製し、窒素ガスによるバブリングを行って窒素置換した。上記の反応槽内温を60℃に調整し、イタコン酸の20%メタノール溶液3.0mLを添加した後に、2,2’−アゾビス(イソブチロニトリル)2.0gを加えて重合を開始した。重合中は重合温度を60℃に維持し、イタコン酸の20%メタノール溶液を15mL/時間で連続添加し、4.5時間後に重合率が65%に達したところで冷却して重合を停止した。次いで減圧下で未反応酢酸ビニルモノマーを除去し、変性PVAcのメタノール溶液を得た。40%に調整した該メタノール溶液にアルカリモル比(NaOHのモル数/変性PVAc中のビニルエステル単位のモル数)が0.01となるようにNaOHメタノール溶液(10%濃度)を添加してけん化した。得られた変性PVAのけん化度は50モル%であった。
(マレイン酸変性PVA系重合体の製造方法)
撹拌機、窒素導入口、還流冷却器および添加剤導入口を備えた6L反応槽に酢酸ビニル1200g、メタノール1800gを仕込み、60℃に昇温した後30分間窒素バブリングにより系中を窒素置換した。コモノマーとして無水マレイン酸をメタノールに溶解した濃度50%溶液を調製し、窒素ガスによるバブリングを行って窒素置換した。上記の反応槽内温を60℃に調整し、無水マレイン酸の50%メタノール溶液1.8mLを添加した後に、2,2’−アゾビス(イソブチロニトリル)2.0gを加えて重合を開始した。重合中は重合温度を60℃に維持し,無水マレイン酸の50%メタノール溶液を2.5mL/時間で連続添加し、4.5時間後に重合率が65%に達したところで冷却して重合を停止した。次いで減圧下で未反応酢酸ビニルモノマーを除去し、変性PVAcのメタノール溶液を得た。40%に調整した該メタノール溶液にアルカリモル比(NaOHのモル数/変性PVAc中のビニルエステル単位のモル数)が0.01となるようにNaOHメタノール溶液(10%濃度)を添加してけん化した。得られた変性PVAのけん化度は50モル%であった。
(PVA系重合体(C)の合成−溶融混練法)
重合度250、けん化度40モル%のPVA系重合体(B)の粉末100重量部に対して、フマル酸1重量部をドライブレンドし、ラボプラストミルを用いて160℃の温度で3分間溶融混練し、PVA系重合体(C)を得た。カルボン酸変性量は、0.4モル%であった。
実施例1と同様にして塩化ビニルの懸濁重合を行い、得られた塩化ビニル重合体粒子について実施例1と同様にして評価を行った。評価結果を表2に示す。
表2に示す不飽和二重結合を有するカルボン酸を用い、さらに表2に示す条件で加熱処理を行った以外は実施例7と同様にして合成されたPVA系重合体(C)を用い、実施例1と同様にして塩化ビニルの懸濁重合を行い、塩化ビニル重合体粒子を得た。塩化ビニル重合体粒子の評価結果を表2に示す。
フマル酸をドライブレンドしないで溶融混練を行った以外は実施例7と同様にして合成されたPVA系重合体(C)を用い、表2に示す使用量で実施例1と同様にして塩化ビニルの懸濁重合を行ったが、粗大粒子があり均一な重合体粒子が得られず、また残留塩化ビニルモノマーも多く、フィッシュアイも多かった。
(PVA系重合体(C)の合成−加熱処理法)
重合度600、けん化度50モル%のPVA系重合体(B)の粉末100重量部を、アジピン酸1重量部をメタノール200重量部に溶解させた溶液に加えて膨潤させた後、減圧下40℃の温度で24時間乾燥を行った。次いで、窒素雰囲気下にて120℃で3時間、加熱処理を行いPVA系重合体(C)を得た。カルボン酸変性量は0.2モル%であった。
重合度780、けん化度72モル%のPVA系重合体(A)を塩化ビニル単量体に対して800ppm、上記PVA系重合体(C)を塩化ビニル単量体に対して350ppm、それぞれ脱イオン水に溶解させ、分散安定剤を調整した。このようにして得られた分散安定剤を、スケール付着防止剤NOXOL WSW(CIRS社製)が固形分として0.3g/m2になるように塗布されたグラスライニング製オートクレーブに仕込んだ。次いで、グラスライニング製オートクレーブにジイソプロピルパーオキシジカーボネートの70%トルエン溶液0.04部を仕込み、オートクレーブ内の圧力が0.0067MPaとなるまで脱気して酸素を除いた後、塩化ビニル30部を仕込み、オートクレーブ内の内容物を63℃に昇温して撹拌下で重合を開始した。重合開始時におけるオートクレーブ内の圧力は1.02MPaであった。重合を開始してから5時間経過後のオートクレーブ内の圧力が0.5MPaとなった時点で重合を停止し、未反応の塩化ビニルを除去した後、重合反応物を取り出し、65℃にて16時間乾燥を行い、塩化ビニル重合体粒子を得た。
表3に示すPVA系重合体(B)および分子内にオレフィン性不飽和結合を含まないカルボン酸を用い、さらに表3に示す条件で加熱処理を行った以外は実施例11と同様にして合成されたPVA系重合体(C)を用い、実施例11と同様にして塩化ビニルの懸濁重合を行い、塩化ビニル重合体粒子を得た。塩化ビニル重合体粒子の評価結果を表3に示す。
カルボン酸を用いずにPVA系重合体(B)の粉末を表3に示す条件で加熱処理を行った以外は実施例11と同様にして合成されたPVA系重合体(C)を用い、表3に示す使用量で実施例11と同様にして塩化ビニルの懸濁重合を行い、塩化ビニル重合体粒子を得た。評価結果を表3に示す。粗大粒子があり均一な重合体粒子が得られず、また残留塩化ビニルモノマーも多く、フィッシュアイも多かった。
加熱処理をしなかった以外は実施例11と同様にして塩化ビニルの懸濁重合を行い、塩化ビニル重合体粒子を得た。評価結果を表3に示す。粗大粒子があり均一な重合体粒子が得られず、また残留塩化ビニルモノマーも多く、フィッシュアイも多かった。
PVA系重合体(A)を用いず、PVA系重合体(C)のみを塩化ビニル単量体に対して350ppmに相当する量で用いた以外は実施例11と同様にして塩化ビニルの懸濁重合を行い、塩化ビニル重合体粒子を得た。評価結果を表3に示す。重合が安定に行えず、ブロック化した。
(PVA系重合体(C)の合成−溶融混練法)
重合度200、けん化度35モル%のPVA系重合体(B)の粉末100重量部に対して、アジピン酸1重量部をドライブレンドし、ラボプラストミルを用いて160℃の温度で3分間溶融混練し、PVA系重合体(C)を得た。カルボン酸変性量は、0.4モル%であった。
実施例11と同様にして塩化ビニルの懸濁重合を行い、得られた塩化ビニル重合体粒子について実施例11と同様にして評価を行った。評価結果を表4に示す。
表4に示すカルボン酸を用いた以外は実施例15と同様にして合成されたPVA系重合体(C)を用い、実施例11と同様にして塩化ビニルの懸濁重合を行い、塩化ビニル重合体粒子を得た。塩化ビニル重合体粒子の評価結果を表4に示す。
アジピン酸をドライブレンドしないで溶融混練を行った以外は実施例15と同様にして合成されたPVA系重合体(C)を用い、表4に示す使用量で実施例11と同様にして塩化ビニルの懸濁重合を行ったが、粗大粒子があり均一な重合体粒子が得られず、また残留塩化ビニルモノマーも多く、フィッシュアイも多かった。
Claims (5)
- けん化度が60モル%以上、重合度が200以上のポリビニルアルコール系重合体(A)、および、
カルボン酸化合物により、けん化度60モル%未満のポリビニルアルコール系重合体(B)をエステル化して得られるポリビニルアルコール系重合体(C)
を含む懸濁重合用分散安定剤。 - 前記ポリビニルアルコール系重合体(A)と前記ポリビニルアルコール系重合体(C)との重量比(A)/(C)が99/1〜5/95である請求項1に記載の懸濁重合用分散安定剤。
- 前記ポリビニルアルコール系重合体(C)の、前記カルボン酸化合物によりエステル化されたモノマーユニットの量が、前記ポリビニルアルコール系重合体(C)の全モノマーユニット中、0.01〜20モル%である請求項1に記載の懸濁重合用分散安定剤。
- 前記カルボン酸化合物が、分子内に不飽和二重結合を有する請求項1に記載の懸濁重合用分散安定剤。
- 前記カルボン酸化合物が、分子内に2個以上のカルボキシル基を有する請求項1に記載の懸濁重合用分散安定剤。
