Description
(1)カルボン酸変性量の測定
PVA1gをイオン交換水100gに溶解し、ODSカラムを用い、0.1Mリン酸二水素アンモニウム水溶液を移動相に用いて、30℃でHPLC測定を行った。未反応カルボン酸の定量結果から、カルボン酸変性量を求めた。
塩化ビニル重合体粒子について、粒度分布および充填比重を以下の方法にしたがって測定した。
(1)粒度分布
JIS標準篩い42メッシュオンおよび200メッシュパスの粒子の含有量を重量%で表示した。「42メッシュオン」とは、粒子が42メッシュのJIS標準篩いの網目を通過せずに網目上に残ることを意味し、「42メッシュオン」の粒子の含有量が少ないほど粗大粒子が少ない。「200メッシュパス」とは、粒子が200メッシュのJIS標準篩いの網目を通過することを意味し、「200メッシュパス」の粒子の含有量が少ないほど微粉が少ない。従って、これらの含有量が少ないほど均一な粒子が得られていることを示している。
A : 0.5%未満
B : 0.5%以上1%未満
C : 1%以上
(2)充填比重
JIS K6721に準拠して測定した。
重合槽内のドライフォーム発生状態を下記の方法で評価した。
(1)泡立ち
重合終了後、未反応の塩化ビニルモノマーをパージする前に、オートクレーブ側面の覗き窓より、重合槽内の泡立ち状態を観察した。評価基準は下記の通りである。
A : 泡立ちがほとんどない。
B : 泡立ちがある。
C : 泡立ちが著しい。
(2)スケール付着量
重合体スラリーを重合槽から取り出した後の重合槽の内壁におけるスケールの付着状態を目視観察することで評価した。評価基準は下記の通りである。
A : スケールの付着がほとんどない。
B : スケールの付着がある。
C : スケール付着が著しい。
(PVA(A)の合成−加熱処理法)
重合度400、けん化度80モル%のPVA(B)の粉末100部を、フマル酸4部をメタノール200部に溶解させた溶液に加えて膨潤させた後、減圧下40℃の温度で24時間乾燥を行った。次いで、窒素雰囲気下にて125℃で2時間、加熱処理を行い、PVA(A)を得た。カルボン酸変性量は0.36モル%であった。
重合度2000、けん化度80モル%のPVAを0.1部、脱イオン水(90L)に溶解させ、分散安定剤を調製し、容量200Lのリフラックスコンデンサー付重合槽に仕込んだ。次いで、t−ブチルパーオキシネオヘプタノエート0.1部を仕込み、重合槽内の圧力が0.0067MPaとなるまで脱気して酸素を除いた後、塩化ビニル100部を仕込み、攪拌しながら、ジャケットに熱水を通して63℃まで昇温し、重合を開始した。重合開始時の重合槽内の圧力は、1.02MPaであった。引き続き重合を継続し、重合転化率が70%になった時点で、上記で合成したフマル酸で変性したPVA(A)の水溶液10L(PVA(A)として0.02部)を添加した。重合槽内の圧力が0.5MPaとなった時点で重合を停止し、未反応モノマーを回収し、重合体スラリーを取り出し、65℃にて一晩乾燥を行い、塩化ビニル重合体粒子を得た。得られた塩化ビニル重合体粒子およびドライフォームの発生状態について、評価結果を表1に示す。
表1に示すPVA(B)および不飽和二重結合を有するカルボン酸化合物を用い、さらに表1に示す条件で加熱処理を行った以外は実施例1と同様にして合成されたPVA(A)を用い、PVA(A)を表1に示す重合転化率の時点で添加した以外は実施例1と同様にして塩化ビニルの懸濁重合を行い、塩化ビニル重合体粒子を得た。塩化ビニル重合体粒子の評価結果を表1に示す。
PVA(A)を添加しなかったこと以外は、実施例1と同様にして塩化ビニルの懸濁重合を行い、塩化ビニル重合体粒子を得た。評価結果を表1に示す。粗大粒子が多くて均一な重合体粒子が得られず、かつ重合後の泡立ちが多く、重合槽内壁面へのスケール付着が多かった。
カルボン酸化合物を用いずにPVA(B)の粉末に表1に示す条件で加熱処理を行った以外は実施例1と同様にして得られたPVAを用い、実施例1と同様にして塩化ビニルの懸濁重合を行い、塩化ビニル重合体粒子を得た。評価結果を表1に示す。粗大粒子があり均一な重合体粒子が得られず、かつ重合後の泡立ちがあり、重合槽内壁面へのスケール付着があった。
表1に示す不飽和二重結合を有するカルボン酸化合物を用い、これの加熱処理をしなかった以外は実施例1と同様にして得られたPVAを用い、実施例1と同様にして塩化ビニルの懸濁重合を行い、塩化ビニル重合体粒子を得た。評価結果を表1に示す。粗大粒子があり均一な重合体粒子が得られず、かつ重合後の泡立ちがあり、重合槽内壁面へのスケール付着があった。
実施例2と同様にして合成されたPVA(A)を重合転化率が5%の時点で添加した以外は実施例1と同様にして塩化ビニルの懸濁重合を行い、塩化ビニル重合体粒子を得た。評価結果を表1に示す。粗大粒子があり均一な重合体粒子が得られず、かつ重合後の泡立ちが多く、重合槽内壁面へのスケール付着が多かった。
(イタコン酸変性PVA系重合体(イタコン酸−ビニルアルコール共重合体)の合成)
撹拌機、窒素導入口、還流冷却器および添加剤導入口を備えた6L反応槽に酢酸ビニル1050g、メタノール1950gを仕込み、60℃に昇温した後30分間窒素バブリングにより系中を窒素置換した。コモノマーとしてイタコン酸をメタノールに溶解した濃度20%溶液を調製し、窒素ガスによるバブリングを行って窒素置換した。上記の反応槽内温を60℃に調整し、イタコン酸の20%メタノール溶液2.8mlを添加した後に、2,2’−アゾビス(イソブチロニトリル)2.0gを加えて重合を開始した。重合中は重合温度を60℃に維持し、イタコン酸の20%メタノール溶液を10mL/hrで連続添加し、4.5時間後に重合率が50%に達したところで冷却して重合を停止した。次いで減圧下に未反応酢酸ビニルモノマーを除去し、変性PVAcのメタノール溶液を得た。40%に調整した該メタノール溶液にアルカリモル比(NaOHのモル数/変性PVAc中のビニルエステル単位のモル数)が0.02となるようにNaOHメタノール溶液(10%濃度)を添加してけん化した。得られた変性PVAのけん化度は68モル%であった。
(PVA(A)の合成−溶融混練法)
重合度600、けん化度70モル%のPVA(B)の粉末100部に対して、フマル酸1部をドライブレンドし、ラボプラストミルを用いて200℃の温度で3分間溶融混練し、PVA(A)を得た。カルボン酸変性量は、0.41モル%であった。
PVA(A)の添加量と添加時期を表2に示す値とした以外は実施例1と同様にして塩化ビニルの懸濁重合を行い、塩化ビニル重合体粒子を得た。評価結果を表2に示す。
表2に示すカルボン酸化合物を用い、さらに表2に示す条件で溶融混練を行った以外は実施例8と同様にして合成されたPVA(A)を用い、実施例8と同様にして塩化ビニルの懸濁重合を行い、塩化ビニル重合体粒子を得た。評価結果を表2に示す。
フマル酸をドライブレンドしないで溶融混練を行った以外は実施例8と同様にして得られたPVAを用い、実施例8と同様にして塩化ビニルの懸濁重合を行った。粗大粒子が多くて、均一な重合体粒子が得られず、かつ重合後の泡立ちがあり、重合槽内壁面へのスケール付着があった。
(PVA(A)の合成−加熱処理法)
重合度500、けん化度80モル%のPVA(B)の粉末100部を、アジピン酸3部をメタノール200部に溶解させた溶液に加えて膨潤させた後、減圧下40℃の温度で24時間乾燥を行った。次いで、窒素雰囲気下にて120℃で5時間、加熱処理を行い、PVA(A)を得た。カルボン酸変性量は0.32モル%であった。
重合度2400、けん化度80モル%のPVAを0.1部、脱イオン水(90L)に溶解させ、分散安定剤を調製し、容量200Lのリフラックスコンデンサー付重合槽に仕込んだ。次いで、t−ブチルパーオキシネオへプタノエート0.1部を仕込み、重合槽内の圧力が0.0067MPaとなるまで脱気して酸素を除いた後、塩化ビニル100部を仕込み、攪拌しながら、ジャケットに熱水を通して63℃まで昇温し、重合を開始した。重合開始時の重合槽内の圧力は、1.02MPaであった。引き続き重合を継続し、重合転化率が75%になった時点で、上記で合成したアジピン酸で変性したPVA(A)の水溶液10L(PVA(A)として0.02部)を添加した。重合槽内の圧力が0.5MPaとなった時点で重合を停止し、未反応モノマーを回収し、重合体スラリーを取り出し、65℃にて一晩乾燥を行い、塩化ビニル重合体粒子を得た。得られた塩化ビニル重合体粒子およびドライフォームの発生状態について、評価結果を表3に示す。
表3に示すPVA(B)およびカルボン酸化合物を用い、さらに表3に示す条件で加熱処理を行った以外は実施例10と同様にして合成されたPVA(A)を用い、PVA(A)を表3に示す重合転化率の時点で添加した以外は実施例10と同様にして塩化ビニルの懸濁重合を行い、塩化ビニル重合体粒子を得た。塩化ビニル重合体粒子の評価結果を表3に示す。
PVA(A)を添加しなかったこと以外は、実施例10と同様にして塩化ビニルの懸濁重合を行い、塩化ビニル重合体粒子を得た。評価結果を表3に示す。粗大粒子が多くて均一な重合体粒子が得られず、かつ重合後の泡立ちが多く、重合槽内壁面へのスケール付着が多かった。
カルボン酸化合物を用いずにPVA(B)の粉末に表3に示す条件で加熱処理を行った以外は実施例10と同様にして得られたPVAを用い、実施例10と同様にして塩化ビニルの懸濁重合を行い、塩化ビニル重合体粒子を得た。評価結果を表3に示す。粗大粒子があり均一な重合体粒子が得られず、かつ重合後の泡立ちがあり、重合槽内壁面へのスケール付着があった。
窒素雰囲気下での加熱処理をしなかった以外は実施例10と同様にして得られたPVAを用い、実施例10と同様にして塩化ビニルの懸濁重合を行い、塩化ビニル重合体粒子を得た。評価結果を表3に示す。粗大粒子があり均一な重合体粒子が得られず、かつ重合後の泡立ちがあり、重合槽内壁面へのスケール付着があった。
実施例10と同様にして合成されたPVA(A)を重合転化率が5%の時点で添加した以外は実施例10と同様にして塩化ビニルの懸濁重合を行い、塩化ビニル重合体粒子を得た。評価結果を表3に示す。粗大粒子があり均一な重合体粒子が得られず、かつ重合後の泡立ちが多く、重合槽内壁面へのスケール付着が多かった。
(PVA(A)の合成−溶融混練法)
重合度550、けん化度70モル%のPVA(B)の粉末100部に対して、アジピン酸1部をドライブレンドし、ラボプラストミルを用いて198℃の温度で3分間溶融混練し、PVA(A)を得た。カルボン酸変性量は、0.31モル%であった。
PVA(A)の添加量と添加時期を表4に示す値とした以外は実施例10と同様にして塩化ビニルの懸濁重合を行い、塩化ビニル重合体粒子を得た。評価結果を表4に示す。
表4に示すカルボン酸化合物を用い、さらに表4に示す条件で溶融混練を行った以外は実施例14と同様にして合成されたPVA(A)を用い、実施例14と同様にして塩化ビニルの懸濁重合を行い、塩化ビニル重合体粒子を得た。評価結果を表4に示す。
アジピン酸をドライブレンドしないで溶融混練を行った以外は実施例14と同様にして得られたPVAを用い、実施例14と同様にして塩化ビニルの懸濁重合を行った。粗大粒子が多くて、均一な重合体粒子が得られず、かつ重合後の泡立ちがあり、重合槽内壁面へのスケール付着があった。
Claims (6)
- リフラックスコンデンサー付きの重合槽を用いて、懸濁重合用分散安定剤の存在下でビニル系化合物の懸濁重合を行うに際し、重合転化率10%以上の時点で、該ビニル系化合物100重量部に対して、側鎖に、不飽和二重結合、カルボキシル基を有していてもよい芳香族基、カルボキシル基を有する飽和脂肪族基、または炭素数11以上の飽和脂肪族基を有するビニルアルコール系重合体(A)を0.001〜5重量部添加することを特徴とするビニル系樹脂の製造方法。
- 前記ビニルアルコール系重合体(A)が、側鎖に、不飽和二重結合、カルボキシル基を有する芳香族基、またはカルボキシル基を有する飽和脂肪族基、を有する請求項1に記載のビニル系樹脂の製造方法。
- 前記ビニルアルコール系重合体(A)が、不飽和二重結合、カルボキシル基を有していてもよい芳香族基、カルボキシル基を有する飽和脂肪族基、または炭素数11以上の飽和脂肪族基を有するカルボン酸化合物によりビニルアルコール系重合体(B)をエステル化して得られるビニルアルコール系重合体である請求項1に記載のビニル系樹脂の製造方法。
- 前記ビニルアルコール系重合体(B)のけん化度が50〜99モル%である請求項3に記載のビニル系樹脂の製造方法。
- 前記カルボン酸化合物が、2個以上のカルボキシル基を有するカルボン酸である請求項3に記載のビニル系樹脂の製造方法。
- 前記ビニルアルコール系重合体(A)の、前記カルボン酸化合物による変性量が、前記ビニルアルコール系重合体(B)のモノマーユニットあたり0.01〜50モル%である請求項3に記載のビニル系樹脂の製造方法。
