Claims (17)
- 観察者によって見られる画像を生成する表示装置であって、前記表示装置は、光学システムと制御ユニットを備え、
前記光学システムは、
出口瞳孔を有する光伝播チャネルを含むとともに、
表示されるべき画像を示す入力画像搬送光を受信するように動作可能かつ構成され、且つ、
前記出口瞳孔において観察者に提示された前記画像に対応する視野(FOV)を有する出力光を生成し、
前記光伝播チャネルの構成は、出口瞳孔の横方向の寸法xと前記FOVの角度のスパンφにわたる光学システムを特徴づける強度伝達関数マップI1(x、φ)を画定することを特徴としてなり、
前記制御ユニットは、前記光学システムを特徴づける強度伝達関数マップI1(x、φ)の中の強度非均一性を少なくとも部分的に補償するように構成された較正強度マップに基づいた輝度変調を適用することにより、画像データに影響を与えるように構成され動作可能とされ、
前記入力画像搬送光は、表示されるべき画像と光学システムの出口瞳孔における出力光とを示す強度変調画像データIDmodに対応し、
前記表示されるべき画像は、改善された強度均一性を具備し観察者に観察される変調された強度マップを有することを特徴とし、
前記制御ユニットはさらに、強度マップ生成モジュールと強度マップ変調ユーティリティーを含み、
前記強度マップ生成モジュールはあらかじめ定められた目瞳孔関連データと、光学システムにおいて特徴づける強度伝達関数マップI1(x、φ)を分析し、出口瞳孔から目瞳孔への角強度伝達を示す対応する強度伝播関数マップを画定し、較正された強度マップを生成するように動作可能かつ構成され、
前記強度マップ変調ユーティリティーは、対応する輝度変調を生成し、光学システムへの入力である画像データに前記輝度変調を適用する前記較正強度マップを利用するように動作可能かつ構成され、
前記強度マップ生成モジュールは、あらかじめ定められた目瞳孔寸法x’および、あらかじめ定められた横方向の出口瞳孔と目瞳孔との間のオフセット(x’-x)に対して特徴つける強度伝達関数マップI1(x、φ)を畳み込むように構成された統合モジュールを含み、出口瞳孔からあらかじめ定められた目瞳孔寸法x’まで角強度の伝達を示す畳み込まれた強度伝達関数マップI’1((x’-x),φ)を示すデータを得ることを特徴とする、表示装置。 - 前記あらかじめ定められた目瞳孔関連データは、目瞳孔寸法x’を示すデータを有することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の表示装置。
- 前記あらかじめ定められた目瞳孔関連データは、出口瞳孔と目瞳孔との間の距離z、および出口瞳孔と目瞳孔との間の横方向のオフセット(x’-x)を示すデータを含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の表示装置。
- 前記制御ユニットは目瞳孔寸法x’を示す与えられたデータを利用することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の表示装置。
- 前記畳み込まれた強度伝達関数マップI’1((x’-x),φ)を示すデータは、様々な目瞳孔寸法x’に対応する複数の畳み込まれた強度伝達関数マップを含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の表示装置。
- 前記強度マップ生成モジュールは、選択モジュールを含み、当該選択モジュールは、出口瞳孔と目瞳孔との間の距離zおよび横方向のオフセット(x’-x)を示すデータを利用し、前記畳み込まれた強度伝達関数マップI’1((x’-x),φ)の中で、対応した距離zとオフセット(x-x’)の値に対応する領域を見分けるために、畳み込まれた強度伝達関数マップI’1((x’-x),φ)を分析し、前記較正強度マップを生成するように動作可能および構成されることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の表示装置。
- 画像表示期間の間、観察者の目瞳孔の1つ以上のパラメーターを監視するように構成され、且つ動作可能である視点制御装置を含み、目瞳孔に関連するデータを決定し、これにより制御ユニットが動的に較正強度マップを調節することを可能にすることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の表示装置。
- 光学システムは、導光光学素子(LOE)を含み、当該導光光学素子(LOE)は、導波路の主面からの全内部反射によって導波路を介して光伝播を導くために構成された導波管を含み、導波管に埋め込まれ導波管の外に光を導くための出口瞳孔を画定するために配置された1つ以上の光を導く表面をさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の表示装置。
- 前記制御ユニットは、光学システムにおいて特徴づける前記強度伝達関数マップI1(x,φ)を示すデータを受け取る記憶装置と通信するように構成されることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の表示装置。
- 前記制御ユニットはシミュレーター・モジュールを含み、前記シミュレーター・モジュールは光学システムの光伝播チャネルの構成を示すデータを受信し、シミュレートされたデータを決定するように動作可能かつ構成され、前記シミュレートされたデータは、光学システムにおいて特徴づける前記強度伝達関数マップI1(x、φ)を示すデータを含むことを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の表示装置。

光学システムを有する表示装置から観察者が観察する画像の照度均一性を制御するための制御システムであって、前記制御システムは、データ入出力ユーティリティー、メモリユーティリティーとデータ処理装置と、アナライザーを含み、
前記アナライザーは、強度マップ生成モジュールと、強度マップ変調ユーティリティーとを含み、
前記強度マップ生成モジュールは、
観察者の目瞳孔に関連するデータと、
光学システムの出口瞳孔の横方向の寸法xと視野(FOV)の角度スパンφにわたる光学システムを特徴づける強度伝達関数マップI1(x、φ)であって、前記光学システムによって観察者に提示される画像に対応する強度伝達関数マップI1(x、φ)と、
を含む入力データを、受け取り分析し、
前記出口瞳孔から目瞳孔への角度強度伝達を示す対応する強度伝達関数マップを決定し、較正強度マップを生成するように構成され動作可能とされ、
前記強度マップ変調ユーティリティーは、
前記較正強度マップを利用し、光学システムに入力される画像を示す画像搬送光へと変換された画像データに適用するための対応する強度変調を生成するように構成され動作可能とされ、
前記強度変調は、画像データに影響を及ぼし、光学システムを特徴付ける強度伝達関数マップI1(x、φ)における強度非均一性を少なくとも部分的に補償し、前記画像を示す光学システムの出口瞳孔における出力光を提供するために、観察者によって観察される変調された強度マップが改善された強度均一性を有するように構成され、
ここで、前記強度マップ生成モジュールは、あらかじめ定められた目瞳孔寸法x’および、あらかじめ定められた横方向の出口瞳孔と目瞳孔との間のオフセット(x’-x)に対して特徴つける強度伝達関数マップI1(x、φ)を畳み込むように構成された統合モジュールを含み、出口瞳孔からあらかじめ定められた目瞳孔寸法x’まで角強度の伝達を示す畳み込まれた強度伝達関数マップI’1((x’-x),φ)を示すデータを得ることを特徴とする、制御システム。 - 前記あらかじめ定められた目瞳孔関連データは目瞳孔寸法x’を示すデータを含むことを特徴とする請求項11に記載の制御システム。
- 前記あらかじめ定められた目瞳孔に関連したデータは、出口瞳孔と目瞳孔との間の距離z、および出口瞳孔と目瞳孔との間の横方向のオフセットx’-xを示すデータを含むことを特徴とする請求項11に記載の制御システム。
- 強度マップ生成モジュールデータは、目瞳孔寸法x’を含む入力データを受信する請求項11に記載の制御システム。
- 畳み込まれた強度伝達関数マップI’1((x’-x),φ)を示す前記データは、様々な目瞳孔寸法x’に対応する複数の畳み込まれた強度伝達関数マップを含むことを特徴とする請求項11に記載の制御システム。
- 前記強度マップ生成モジュールは、選択モジュールを含み、当該選択モジュールは、出口瞳孔と目瞳孔との間の距離zおよび横方向のオフセット(x’-x)を示すデータを利用し、前記畳み込まれた強度伝達関数マップI’1((x’-x),φ)の中で、対応した距離zとオフセット(x-x’)の値に対応する領域を見分けるために、畳み込まれた強度伝達関数マップI’1((x’-x),φ)を分析し、前記較正強度マップを生成するように動作可能および構成されることを特徴とする請求項11に記載の制御システム。
- 画像表示期間の間、観察者の目瞳孔の1つ以上のパラメーターを含む入力データに反応するように構成され、目瞳孔に関連するデータを決定し、動的に較正強度マップを調節することを特徴とする請求項11に記載の制御システム。
