内面に雌ネジ部分を含むボックスを備えており、雌ネジ部分が同じ種類の別のドリルパイプの雄ネジ部分に、雄ネジ接触面および雌ネジ接触面からなる接触ゾーンでねじ込まれ、そして締められることになるドリルパイプを対象とし、ここで少なくとも雄ネジ接触面の一部分または雌ネジ接触面の一部分が硬質金属からなる表面層であり、そして少なくとも雌ネジ接触面の一部分または雄ネジ接触面の一部分が、それぞれ軟質材料からなる表面層であり、そしてここが該両表面部分がねじ込み後に接触している表面である。
−それぞれ硬質金属および軟質材料からなる表面層が、接触ゾーン表面の少なくとも90%を占める;
−雄ネジ接触面または雌ネジ接触面が、硬質金属からなる表面層であり、そして雌ネジ接触面または雄ネジ接触面がそれぞれ軟質材料からなる表面層である;
−硬質金属の硬度が600Hv以上、例えば800Hv以上である;
−軟質材料の硬度が350Hv以下、例えば150Hv以下である;
−軟質材料に対する硬質金属の硬度比が2.8以上、例えば5以上である;
−硬質金属が、クロム(Cr)、ニッケル(Ni)またはそれらの混合物からなるリスト内で選択される金属から実質的になり;一態様によれば、硬質金属の上記層がメッキ処理を介して得られ;一態様によれば硬質金属の層が硬質クロムメッキで作成され;別の一態様によれば硬質金属の層が非電気(non electric)ニッケルメッキで作成される;
−硬質金属の層の厚さが5から100μmの間、例えば10μm以上、例えば50μm以下に構成される;
−軟質材料が、銅(Cu)、亜鉛(Zn)またはそれらの混合物からなるリスト内で選択される金属からなり;一態様によれば軟質材料の該層がメッキ処理を介して得られ;一態様によれば軟質材料の層が電解(electrolytic)銅または電解亜鉛で作成される;
−軟質材料がリン酸塩層から実質的になる;
−軟質材料の層の厚さが5から100μmの間、例えば10μm以上、例えば50μm以下に構成される;
−ドープまたは潤滑グリースを欠くドリルパイプツールジョイント;
−雄ネジ部分を含むピン、および雌ねじ部分を含むボックスが、組立のためにねじ込まれ、そして締められる時にドープまたは潤滑グリースを欠いている。
図1は本発明による態様におけるドリルパイプツールジョイントおよびそのドリルパイプツールジョイントを含むドリルパイプの全体構造を示す図解である。さらに図2は本発明による態様におけるドリルパイプを示す長手方向の断面図である。掘削用のドリルパイプツールジョイントは、API(アメリカ石油協会)の標準により定められ、そして図1および2に示す形のように異なる細目で幾つかの形に形成される。
ドリルパイプツールジョイント1の組立/分解操作における抗ゴーリング性評価を行うために、5−1/2FHの寸法のドリルパイプを使用することにより組立/分解試験を行った。5−1/2FHのドリルパイプは、7インチ(177.8mm)の外径と3.75インチ(95.25mm)の内径を有する。材料の等級はTJ130(AISI改良4135、降伏強さ130−150ksi、引張強さ、最小140ksi)である。表面処理領域は、外部ショルダーの角からネジ山を通って内部ショルダーまたは内部ベベルまでである。ドリルパイプの反復する組立/分解操作後、雄ネジ部分23または雌ネジ部分33の表面にゴーリングが生じるまでの組立/分解操作の回数を評価した。この評価は、好ましくは25回以上、より好ましくは50回以上である。
上記の組立/分解試験の結果から、耐ゴーリング性はピン2およびボックス3に互いに異なる硬度の硬質表面処理および軟質表面処理が施された場合、優れていることが分かった。次に硬質表面処理および軟質表面処理のそれぞれの硬度をパラメーターとして実験した。
(1)本態様では、雄ネジ部分23および雌ネジ部分33が、それぞれ互いに異なる硬度の硬質金属からなる表面層および軟質材料からなる表面層を有する。雄ネジ部分23および雌ネジ部分33は、異なる硬度を有する表面処理された表面、例えばそれぞれクロムメッキおよび銅メッキの組み合わせを有し、互いに接触しているねじ込み面間の親和性は低い。すなわち雄ネジ部分23および雌ネジ部分33の間で組立/分解操作が繰り返し行われても、所謂「ゴーリング」の発生を抑制することができる。したがってゴーリングが生じるまでの組立/分解操作の回数を上げることができる。
(2)図3に示す軟質材料に対する硬質金属の硬度比と組立/分解操作の回数との間の関係から、軟質材料に対する硬質金属の硬度比が2.8以上である場合、ゴーリングを生じずに組立/分解操作の回数が上がり、特にドリルパイプツールジョイントについて実施可能な範囲として25回以上の組立/分解操作が可能であることが確認される。ピン2にクロムメッキまたはニッケルメッキが適用され、一方、ボックス3に銅メッキが適用される場合、ゴーリングが生じるまでに50回以上の組立/分解操作を達成することができる。(3)ピン2およびボックス3にクロムメッキおよび銅メッキの組み合わせのような異なる硬度の表面処理の組み合わせを適用することにより、従来から使用されている潤滑グリース(またはドープ)は、もはやピン2およびボックス3に適用する必要がない。したがって環境に優しいドリルパイプツールジョイントおよびそれを含むドリルパイプを達成することが可能である。
(4)2.8以上の軟質材料に対する硬質金属の硬度比を有する表面処理した表面の組み合わせを、反復する組立/分解操作にかけられるピン2およびボックス3のねじ込み面に適用することにより、いかなるゴーリングも生じずに組立/分解操作の回数が上がるという重要な利点を達成することが可能である。図3のグラフから、2.8の軟質材料に対する硬質金属の硬度比の前後で、ゴーリングを生じずに組立/分解操作の回数が有意に変化するので、2.8の軟質材料に対する硬質金属の硬度比が臨界を有すると理解される。図3に示すように軟質材料に対する硬質金属の硬度比が5以上である場合、6以上の実施例のように結果はさらに上がる。

Claims (17)
- 外面(21)に雄ネジ部分(23)を含むピン(2)と;および
内面(31)に雌ネジ部分(33)を含むボックス(3)を備えており、雌ネジ部分が雄ネジ部分に、雄ネジ接触面および雌ネジ接触面からなる接触ゾーンで、ドープまたは潤滑グリースを使用することなく、ねじ込まれ、そして締められることになるドリルパイプツールジョイント(1)であって、雄ネジ接触面の少なくとも90%が硬質金属からなる表面層であり、そして雌ネジ接触面の少なくとも90%が軟質材料からなる表面層であり、そして該両表面部分がねじ込み後に接触している表面であり、硬質金属の硬度が600Hv以上であり、軟質材料の硬度が350Hv以下であり、軟質材料に対する硬質金属の硬度比が2.8以上である上記ドリルパイプツールジョイント(1)。 - 硬質金属が、クロム(Cr)、ニッケル(Ni)またはそれらの混合物からなるリスト内で選択される金属から実質的になる請求項1に記載のドリルパイプツールジョイント。
