Description
Claims (2)
- 互いに隣接して長手方向に延びる複数の形状特徴又は複数の溝を円柱形工作物に形成する方法であって、
(a)前記工作物の第1端部付近から開始して、各形状特徴又は各溝の初期部分を、1つ以上の連続回転する切削要素を備えたフライカッティングヘッドを用いて形成する工程と、
(b)前記工作物の連続的な回転の間に、各形状特徴又は各溝の次の部分を、前記フライカッティングヘッドを用いて形成する工程と、を有し、
各形状特徴の前記次の部分は各形状特徴の前記初期部分と実質的に位置合わせされ、又は、各溝の前記次の部分は各溝の前記初期部分と実質的に位置合わせされ、
前記次の部分は、前記工作物の第2端部に漸進的に近づくように形成され、
前記初期部分は、前記フライカッティングヘッドの、連続回転する前記切削要素のうちの1つの1回の通過によって形成され、
前記次の部分は、前記フライカッティングヘッドの、連続回転する前記切削要素のうちの前記1つ又は他の1つの1回の通過によって形成され、
前記初期部分及び前記次の部分の各々は、始点と終点とを有し、
前記初期部分及び前記次の部分の各々は、前記始点と前記終点との間に、前記初期部分及び前記次の部分を形成するために使用されるフライカッティングヘッドの切削半径に相当する曲率半径を有し、
前記工作物の前記第1端部の近くに形成される前記形状特徴又は溝の前記初期部分は全て、前記工作物の前記第2端部により近くに形成される前記形状特徴又は溝の次の部分よりも鋭い、方法。 - 前記工作物を第1の回転軸回りに回転させる工程と、
前記1つ以上の切削要素が第2の回転軸回りに回転するように前記フライカッティングヘッドを操作する工程と、
前記第2の回転軸が、前記工作物の前記第1の回転軸とは非平行となるように前記フライカッティングヘッドを配置する工程と、
前記1つ以上の切削要素の回転方向位置を、時間の関数として決定する工程と、
前記工作物の回転方向位置を、時間の関数として決定する工程と、
前記初期部分及び前記次の部分を有する一連の溝区分を、前記フライカッティングヘッドを用いて前記円柱形工作物に切削加工する工程と、をさらに有し、
前記一連の溝区分の各々は、前記フライカッティングヘッドの回転に伴う前記切削要素の1つの1回の通過によって形成され、
前記フライカッティングヘッドを用いて前記一連の溝区分を前記円柱形工作物に切削加工する工程は、前記1つ以上の切削要素の回転方向位置及び前記工作物の回転方向位置を用いて、前記円柱形工作物に形成された溝区分の各々を、他の溝区分に対して所定の位置となるように配置することを含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
