Abstract
【解決手段】少なくとも2個のほぼ平行な情報層(20、21)が形成され、単一の走査ヘッドにより走査するのに適当な記録媒体について説明する。各情報層には制御情報が記録されている制御ブロック(26、31)が形成され、この情報を用いて情報層に記録されているユーザ情報を再生することができる。これら制御情報は、走査ヘッドを最小変位させることにより走査装置により順次読みだすことができるように配置する。また、ユーザ情報の少なくとも1個のブロックは、走査装置が焦点スポットが位置する情報層を決定できるようにする情報を有する。

Claims (6)
- 透明基板及び少なくとも2個のほぼ平行な情報層を有し、前記透明基板の側から単一の光学式走査ヘッドの放射ビームにより走査するのに適当な光学式ディスク状記録媒体であって、
各情報層は、ユーザ情報のためにフォーマットされている領域、及びこれら情報層を走査するための制御情報を有する制御ブロックを含む制御領域を含み、
前記制御情報は、
当該記録媒体の前記情報層の数のインディケーション、及び
当該制御情報を含む情報層の順序番号のインディケーション
を含み、
前記ユーザ情報の少なくとも1個のブロックは、走査装置が焦点スポットが位置する情報層を決定できるようにする情報を有することを特徴とする記録媒体。 - 請求項1に記載の記録媒体において、
前記制御ブロックは、異なる情報層の面において実質的に同一の物理的位置にあることを特徴とする記録媒体。 - 請求項1又は2に記載の記録媒体において、
少なくとも1個の前記制御ブロックが、前記情報層に記録されているユーザ情報に関する全体的なインディケーションを有するサブブロックを含むことを特徴とする記録媒体。 - 請求項1、2又は3に記載の記録媒体において、
前記ユーザ情報の前記少なくとも1個のブロックは、当該記録媒体の情報層の数に関するインディケーションを有することを特徴とする記録媒体。 - 透明基板及び少なくとも2個のほぼ平行な情報層を有する光学式ディスク状記録媒体であって、各情報層は、ユーザ情報のためにフォーマットされている領域を含み、及びこれら情報層を走査するための制御情報を有する制御ブロックを含む制御領域を含む、記録媒体を読み取る方法であって、
当該記録媒体の前記情報層の数のインディケーション、及び
当該制御情報を含む情報層の順序番号のインディケーション
を含む前記制御情報を当該記録媒体から得るために集束スポットが位置する情報層の前記制御領域を走査するステップ、
読み出されるべき他の情報層のトラックの走査中レンズが集束スポットを維持するように制御するステップであって、異なる情報層の走査に関し前記制御領域から得られた前記制御情報に基づいてサーボ系により前記制御が行われるステップ、及び
前記ユーザ情報の前記ブロックから得られた前記情報に基づいて前記走査装置が焦点スポットが位置する情報層を決定するステップ、
を有することを特徴とする方法。 - 請求項1、2、3又は4に記載の記録媒体を走査する装置であって、当該装置は、情報層上に放射ビームを集束するための単一の光学式走査手段を有し、前記走査手段は、
− 前記放射ビームを発生するための放射源、
− 前記放射ビームを集束スポットに集束するためのレンズ系、
− 前記放射ビームの前記焦点スポットが情報層上に位置するように前記レンズ系を制御するためのサーボ手段、
− 反射した放射を電気信号に変換するための検出手段、及び
− 前記サーボ手段を制御するための制御ユニット、
を有する装置において、
前記制御ユニットは、情報層上に前記焦点スポットが位置するように前記サーボ手段を制御し、記録媒体の情報層の数のインディケーション及び当該情報層の順序番号のインディケーションを有する制御情報のブロックを読み取ることにより情報層の全数及び当該情報層の順序番号を決定するように構成され、当該装置は、前記ユーザ情報の前記ブロックから得られた前記情報に基づいて焦点スポットが位置する情報層を決定するように構成されることを特徴とする装置。
