Definitions

  • the invention relates to an electric iron with a hair dryer forming the handle, the upper part and the heating device of the iron, in front of the warm air nozzle of which a heat-absorbing heat-conducting ironing plate is arranged via a connecting device.
  • Such an electric iron is known from JP-U-5440218 and has an ironing plate which can be inserted into the connecting device in the form of a box frame and which has protruding narrow ribs on its upper side facing the hot air nozzle.
  • blowing windows are provided on two opposite sides parallel to the longitudinal direction of the ribs.
  • the hot-air nozzle of the hair dryer t leaving hot air flow leaves the surrounding area of the ribs of the strap plate box frame on which are arranged laterally and obliquely oriented downwards Blas fel.
  • JP-A-4 821 008 discloses a device which can be used both as a hair dryer and as an iron, but this uses a second heating winding which is separate from the hair dryer to heat up the ironing plate.
  • the hair dryer has a reversible motor-blower unit, which, depending on whether the device is to be used as a hair dryer or as an iron, must be switched to blow the air flow either to the warm air nozzle of the hair dryer or to the air inlet of the separately heated ironing plate .
  • this known integrated device also has the disadvantage of being heavy.
  • the invention has for its object to provide an iron of the type mentioned, which allows rapid heating of the ironing board to a high ironing temperature without the risk of heat build-up in the hair dryer.
  • the ironing plate has a flat top and is designed to protrude beyond the impact area of the hot air flow and thus over the contour of the hot air nozzle with an edge area overflowing through the hot air leaving the impact area.
  • the risk of heat build-up is also prevented. Furthermore, the warm air flow, which is deflected laterally in the impact area of the ironing plate, creates a suction around the housing of the hair dryer, which constantly allows cold air to flow in from above to cool the hair dryer. Another advantage is that due to the expansion of the ironing plate over the contour of the hot air nozzle, the effective area for heat absorption and the area of the ironing plate that can be used for ironing is increased.
  • the ironing plate can be made relatively thin and, in particular in the area of the hot air stream striking it, can be provided with holes or air passage openings for faster drying of the ironing material.
  • the clamp allows quick and easy attachment of the ironing plate to the housing of the hair dryer.
  • a reflection plate having an opening opposite the warm air nozzle is arranged between the hot air nozzle and the ironing plate, through which the warm air flow through a gap along the top of the ironing plate is led.
  • the reflection plate brings about a further improvement in the flow conditions with a heat film between the reflection plate and the ironing plate. This results in an increased heat absorption of the ironing plate and thus an even higher ironing temperature, which in turn leads to a reduction in the ironing time.
  • the opening in the reflection plate can have essentially the same shape as the warm air nozzle of the hair dryer.
  • the reflection plate is e.g. B. a flat aluminum plate, the underside of which is mirror-like in order to reflect the heat radiated upwards from the ironing plate back to the ironing plate.
  • the top of the reflection plate can be painted dark.
  • heat-insulating spacers can be arranged between the reflection plate and the ironing plate. Special flow conditions arise when, in another embodiment, the reflection plate is curved so that the height of the gap decreases towards the edge of the reflection plate.
  • An electric iron designated as a whole by 1 (FIGS. 1 and 2) has a thin ironing plate 2 made of aluminum and an electric hair dryer designated as a whole by 3. From the warm air nozzle 4, a warm air flow 5, indicated in FIG. 3 by arrows Pf1, emerges in the usual way and acts on the upper side 7 of the ironing plate 2.
  • a connecting device, designated as a whole by 8, is provided on this, by means of which the ironing plate 2 is simple can be connected to the housing 9 of the hair dryer 3.
  • the connecting device 8 preferably has a clamping bracket 10 provided with a clamping screw 11.
  • the connecting device enables a simple assembly of ironing plate 2 and hair dryer 3 as well as an easy disassembly of these parts 2, 3, so that one can transform a hair dryer into an iron or make it usable with the help of the ironing plate 2, which forms a kind of additional device.
  • FIGS. 3 to 5 show a somewhat modified embodiment with respect to FIGS. 1 and 2 with a hair dryer 3a of a different type and a bracket plate 2a adapted to this type.
  • the ironing plates 2, 2 a have 5 holes 6 or the like in the area of the hot air flow impinging on them.
  • the contour of the perforated field 17, 17a of the ironing plate 2 or 2a is adapted to the contour 18 or 18a cer nozzle 4 or 4a.
  • the nozzle 4 of the hair dryer 3 according to FIG. 1 has an essentially rectangular contour 18, which is indicated by dashed lines in FIG. 2.
  • the perforated field 17 there is also provided with an essentially rectangular outline shape.
  • the nozzle 4a in the hairdryer according to FIG. 4 has a circular contour 18a and the perforated area 17a (FIG. 4) of the associated ironing plate 2a is matched to it.
  • additional perforations 19 can also be provided in the ironing plate 2, 2a outside the corresponding perforated fields 17 and 17a (FIG. 2).
  • slits or other passages arranged in the area of the hole field 17, 17a can also be used.
  • the heat generated by the hair dryer 3, 3a is not only supplied to the items to be ironed through these holes or the like, but the warm air flow 5 also heats the entire ironing board 2, 2a.
  • This is therefore thin and made of a good heat-conducting material, preferably aluminum.
  • “thin” is understood to mean, in the case of an ironing plate 2, 2a, which is provided with holes 6 or the like, a plate of approximately 1.5 mm to approximately 3 mm, preferably a plate of approximately 2 mm thick . If necessary, it is also possible to use a particularly thin ironing plate or a particularly thin ironing plate in the impact area of the warm air flow.
  • Your hole-free area would then have, for example, a thickness of less than about 1.5 mm, so that even without holes 6 or the like .. rapid heat transfer would be possible; the embodiment described above with the holes 6 or the like, however, represents a preferred embodiment of the invention.
  • the structure of the upper side 7 of the ironing plate 2, 2a is designed such that it can absorb heat well and does not unnecessarily reflect it. It is rough and matt. This can also be done, for example, by using an appropriate color. Because of the heat, however, a corresponding rough, matt structure has proven to be particularly advantageous.
  • a tilting stand for the iron 1a designated as a whole by 12. It is arranged in such a way that the ironing plate 2a does not touch an ironing board 20 or the like underlay or the ironing material (not shown) lying thereon when the iron 1a is in the tilted side position according to FIG. 6.
  • An operator can comfortably put down the iron 1a, e.g. B. also without turning it off.
  • a corresponding arrangement is of course also on other iron designs such. B. on the iron 1 according to FIGS. 1 and 2 possible.
  • the stand feet 14 and 14a are arranged such that they laterally overhang the corresponding side edge 13 of the ironing plate 2a a corresponding piece
  • a very easy to manufacture and functional tilting stand is obtained by forming a freely projecting strip on the clamping bracket 10 as the one stand base 14, while expediently the clamping screw 11 also protrudes so far beyond the side edge 13 of the ironing plate 2a that it is the second Stand foot 14a forms.
  • the clamping bracket 10 or the like. Connection element is matched to the corresponding contour of the respective housing 9a of the hair dryer.
  • a tube-like intermediate piece 21 which can be inserted into the clamping bracket 10 or the like.
  • the ironing plate 2, 2a preferably consists of a light and at the same time good heat-conducting material such as aluminum.
  • the essential parts of the connecting device 8 such. B. the clamp bracket 10 and from this to the bracket plate 2, 2a leading supports 22 made of light material such as aluminum. It is not the thermal conductivity that matters, but the low weight and good processability are advantageous there.
  • a distance a is provided between the nozzle mouth 23 of the hair dryer 3a on the one hand and the upper side 7 of the ironing plate 2a, which is expediently about 4 to 6 mm, preferably about 5 mm. If necessary, it can also be made somewhat larger. It has been found that with such a minimum distance of about 5 mm, the hair dryer 3a does not become too warm due to the heat build-up above the ironing plate 2a. For this reason, a somewhat larger distance between the ironing plate 2a and the nozzle mouth 23 is harmless. In order to achieve this optimal distance a of about 5 mm without difficulty when assembling the iron 1a, an assembly aid 24 is provided. In the embodiment of FIG. 3, this consists of stop lugs 25 for the clamping bracket 10, which are arranged on the housing 9a of the hair dryer 3a.
  • the holes 6 are widened toward the underside 26 of the ironing plate 2a. They have a conical chamfer 16 there. In addition, these holes are also widened toward the top side 7 of the ironing plate, preferably also by a conical chamfer 16a (FIG. 5).
  • the chamfers 16, 16a are only indicated by dashed lines in each case at a hole 6 in FIGS. 4 and 5.
  • the area of the material to be ironed, which is acted upon by the hot air flow 5, is increased and, in particular, the entry of the warm air flow 5 into the holes 6 is favored by the conical chamfers 16a on the top of the ironing plate.
  • the underside 26 of the ironing plate 2, 2a is smooth, for. B. polished and formed on their side edges and in particular on the edges of the hole edges with smooth, rounded transitions. This favors perfect ironing.
  • An electric switch 28 can be seen on the handle 27 of the hair dryer 3a (FIG. 3). It is used to switch the hair dryer 3a on and off, but is also designed as a step switch. In the hair dryer according to FIG. 1, such a switch 28 and also a regulating wheel 29 are provided, which enable fine regulation in the area of the tap changer.
  • the invention makes use of these switching and control options which are usually already present in hair dryers 3, 3a for use as an iron 1, without additional expenditure being incurred.
  • Fig. 1 is a somewhat schematically provided with 30 designated sprayer. It has a nozzle mouth 31 and a hollow cylinder 32 at the front end of the iron, which is to be filled with water. A tab 33, the sprayer 30 attached to the iron 1, preferably attached to the connecting means 8 of the ironing plate 2 or by means of a od f ländeIschraube 34th the like to be mounted.
  • the spraying device 30 has an operating lever 35, which preferably projects into the area of the handle 27 of the hair dryer 3. Accordingly, when ironing, if necessary, the spray device 30 can be actuated in a simple manner via the hand lever 35, so that the items to be ironed are slightly moistened immediately before ironing.
  • the bracket plate 2, 2a which is designed as an additional device for a hairdryer 3, 3a and includes a connecting device 8, is simple, easy to manufacture, requires little space and is extremely light in comparison to conventional irons, but also in comparison to travel irons; you can make it with a weight of about 50 g and it can be designed to match a variety of hair dryers.
  • the iron 1, 1a according to the invention is therefore particularly well suited for travelers and holidaymakers, but also for people with limited accommodation options, and also particularly well for air travel. Since the Bü gel plate 2, 2a is easily detachable from the rest of the hair dryer 3, 3a, these parts 2, 2a and 3, 3a of the iron are also to be stowed away or stored separately.
  • the iron 1, 1a generally does not pose a fire hazard, even if it inadvertently remains on the material to be ironed for a longer period of time.
  • the iron 1, 1a is also protected against overheating by the overheating protection switch, which is located in the electric hair dryer 3, 3a anyway. Tests have shown that heating the ironing material is sufficient for flattening, but there is no risk of fire. This practically eliminates the risk of fire injuries to the operator.
  • the hot air flow 5 also has the following advantageous further effects on the iron 1, 1a:
  • a suction is generated around the housing 9, 9a, as a result of which cold air continuously flows in from above to cool the hair dryer.
  • the deflected hot air flow also blows unwanted dust particles, ash and the like. Like. So on in time that they are not accidentally ironed.
  • the iron 1a also consists of a hair dryer 3a, which is connected via a connecting device 8 to an ironing plate 2a, but a reflection plate 42 is additionally arranged above the ironing plate 2a in order to achieve a higher ironing temperature.
  • the hair dryer 3a has a warm air nozzle 4a from which a warm air flow 5 escapes in the switched-on state according to the arrows Pf1.
  • the warm air flow 5 passes through an opening 43 in the reflection plate 42 to a gap 46 between the reflection plate 42 and the bracket plate 2a.
  • the warm air flow initially pointing downward in FIG. 7 is angled by an angle of 90 °, a warm air flow starting from the center to the edge 47 of the reflection plate 42 and to the edge 48 of the ironing plate 2a being formed in the gap 46.
  • the hot air flow 5 moved outwards in the gap 46 creates a heat film which leads to an increased heat absorption of the ironing plate 2a and thereby to a shortening of the ironing time.
  • the heat radiated upward by the ironing plate 2a is reflected back by the reflection plate 42, the geometry of which is shown in FIG. 8, to the ironing plate 2a. This reduces the heat losses, so that the ironing plate 2a assumes an increased temperature compared to an arrangement without a reflection plate due to the action of the reflection plate 42.
  • the reflection plate 42 has an outline which essentially corresponds to the ironing plate 2a, the edge 47 of the reflection plate 42 being somewhat retracted inwards relative to the edge 48 of the ironing plate 2a.
  • the opening 43 for introducing the warm air flow 5 has the shape of a circular disk with a circular edge 44 in the exemplary embodiment shown in FIG. 8 with a hair dryer, the hot air nozzle 4 a of which is circular.
  • the underside 49 of the reflection plate 42 is smooth and treated in such a way that the reflection plate 42 absorbs as little heat as possible and that from the top 7 radiated heat from the ironing plate 2a is reflected as well as possible.
  • the top 45 of the reflection plate 42 is painted dark, for example dark blue.
  • the material of the reflection plate 42 is preferably aluminum.
  • the ironing plate 2a provided with the reflection plate 42 also has a plurality of holes 6 in the central region through which the hot air stream 5 can reach the ironing material when ironing.
  • the edges of the holes 6 have a conical projection 16, 16a, which is only indicated in FIG. 8 for one of the holes 6.
  • the distance between the, for example, 0.6 mm thick reflection plate 42 made of aluminum and the approximately 2 mm thick ironing plate 2a made of aluminum is a few millimeters and is defined by spacers 50 made of a heat-insulating material, for example Teflon or asbestos.
  • the spacers 50 have through holes, through each of which a countersunk screw 40 is guided, with which the bracket plate 2a and the reflection plate 42 are fastened together on the supports 22.
  • heat-insulating disks 15 are arranged between the top 45 of the reflection plate 42 and the supports 22.
  • the ends of the countersunk screws 40 pointing away from the ironing plate 2a are provided with nuts 41 screwed.
  • the heat-insulated supports 22 are permanently fastened to a clamping bracket 10 of the connecting device 8.
  • the hair dryer 3a is clamped with its end facing the arm air nozzle 4a.
  • the nozzle mouth 23 is at a distance of a few millimeters from the top 45 of the reflection plate 42, this distance being 3 mm, for example. This distance b prevents heat transfer from the ironing plate 2a and the reflection plate 42 to the nozzle mouth 23 of the plastic housing 9 of the hair dryer 3a.
  • an assembly aid 24 is again provided, which essentially consists of the stop lug 25, which comes into contact with the clamping bracket 10 from above.
  • a stand foot 14 is arranged on the clamping bracket 10, as in the exemplary embodiments according to FIGS. 3 and 5, so that the iron 1 a can be put down laterally without the ironing plate 2a touching the storage surface.
  • the clamping screw 11 together with the stand foot 14 serves as a tilting stand 12.
  • the reflection plate is not flat, but is curved upward, so that the gap 46 narrows towards the edge 47 of the reflection plate. A further temperature increase can be achieved with the curved reflection plate.
