在典型的蜂窝式无线电系统中,无线用户设备单元(UE)经无线电接入网(RAN)与一个或多个核心网络进行通信。用户设备单元(UE)可以是移动台,例如移动电话(“蜂窝”电话)和具有移动终端的膝上型计算机,因而可以是例如便携、袖珍、手持、计算机内置或者车载移动装置,它们与无线电接入网进行语音和/或数据通信。或者,无线用户设备单元可以是固定无线装置,例如作为无线本地环路的组成部分的固定蜂窝装置/终端等。
无线电接入网(RAN)覆盖分为若干小区的地理区域,其中各小区由基站提供服务。小区是由基站站点处的无线电基站设备提供无线电覆盖的地理区域。各小区通过在小区中广播的唯一识别码来标识。基站通过空中接口与基站范围内的用户设备单元(UE)进行通信。在无线电接入网中,若干基站通常(例如通过陆线或微波)连接到无线电网络控制器(RNC)。无线电网络控制器有时也称作基站控制器(BSC),它监控并协调所连接的多个基站的各种活动。无线电网络控制器通常连接到一个或多个核心网络。核心网络具有两个服务域,其中RNC具有与这两个域的接口。

本领域的技术人员理解,在WCDMA技术中,公共频带允许用户设备单元(UE)和多个基站之间同时通信。在接收站通过基于使用高速伪噪声(PN)码的扩频CDMA波形特性来区别占用公共频带的信号。这些高速PN码用来调制从基站和用户设备单元(UE)发射的信号。使用不同PN码(或时间上偏移的PN码)的发射机站产生能够在接收站单独被解调的信号。高速PN调制还允许接收站方便地通过结合发射信号的若干不同传播路径从单个发射站产生接收信号。因此,在CDMA中,在从一个小区到另一个小区进行连接切换时,用户设备单元(UE)不需要转换频率。这样,在始发小区继续为连接提供服务的同时,目标小区可支持与用户设备单元(UE)的连接。由于用户设备单元(UE)在切换过程中始终通过至少一个小区进行通信,因此呼叫没有中断。因此称作“软切换”。与硬切换相比,软切换是“中断前进行的”转换操作。
包含无线电接入网的其它类型的电信系统包括:全球移动通信系统(GSM);高级移动电话服务(AMPS)系统;窄带AMPS系统(NAMPS);全接入通信系统(TACS);个人数字蜂窝(PDC)系统;美国数字蜂窝(USDC)系统;以及EIA/TIA IS-95中描述的码分多址(CDMA)系统。

因此,用RNC IP寻址信息人工配置RBS的当前技术不适用于毫微微RBS的情况,因为例如毫微微RBS将由终端用户安装。

在一个示例实现中,从用户设备单元得到的并通过毫微微无线电基站提供给第一无线电网络控制器节点的位置指示信息是下列识别码之一:(1)在用户设备单元进入毫微微无线电基站的小区后用户设备单元执行位置区域更新时从用户设备单元得到的位置区域识别码(LAI);以及(2)在用户设备单元进入毫微微无线电基站的小区后用户设备单元执行路由区域更新时从用户设备单元得到的路由区域识别码(RAI)。
在一个示例实施例和模式中,第一无线电网络控制器节点将用户设备单元配置成使用户设备单元能够在指定频率上检测小区(指定频率由毫微微无线电基站和宏无线电基站使用)。用户设备单元然后在指定频率上检测小区。将所检测小区的小区标识信息(例如扰码和/或小区标识符)作为从与毫微微无线电基站进行通信的用户设备单元得到的位置指示信息提供给第一无线电网络控制器节点。

在图1A所示电信系统10的非限制性示例上下文中来描述本发明。电信系统10连接到核心网络20。电信系统10包括无线电接入网24。无线电接入网24包括一个或多个无线电网络控制器节点(RNC)26和无线电基站(BS)28。为了举例说明,图1A具体示出两个无线电网络控制器节点即第一无线电网络控制节点261和第二无线电网络控制节点262、以及一个或多个宏无线电基站(图1A中仅示出一个宏无线电基站28M)和多个毫微微无线电基站28f1、28f2、...28fx。宏无线电基站28M服务于宏小区CM。毫微微无线电基站28f1、28f2、...28fx服务于相应的毫微微小区Cf1、Cf2、...Cfx。本领域的技术人员理解,无线电基站通常位于无线电基站服务的相应小区内部(例如中心),但是为了清楚起见,图1A的宏无线电基站和毫微微无线电基站示为通过双箭头关联到它们各自的小区。毫微微小区Cf1、Cf2、...Cfx中的至少一部分在地理上与宏小区CM重叠或被其覆盖。
本文所使用的“毫微微无线电基站”还具有服务于毫微微小区(或微微小区或者微小区)的微微无线电基站或微无线电基站的含义。毫微微小区通常与一个或多个宏小区重叠,并服务于比宏小区更小的地理区域或订户区。本文所述的技术对于可在无线电接入网中安装和/或重新定位而无需由无线电接入网的拥有者/操作员控制所述安装或重新定位的毫微微无线电基站极为有利。换言之,非网络运营商实体(毫微微操作员或终端用户)可获得毫微微无线电基站,并按照毫微微操作员的偏好来设置毫微微无线电基站。在这方面,图1A正是示出刚由毫微微操作员激活的这样一种毫微微无线电基站28f-new。毫微微无线电基站28f-new将它的毫微微小区Cf-new在地理上设置或定位成由宏小区CM覆盖。
用户设备单元(UE)、例如图1A所示的用户设备单元(UE)30通过无线电或空中接口32与一个或多个小区或者一个或多个基站(BS)28进行通信。用户设备单元可以是移动台,例如移动电话(“蜂窝”电话)和具有移动终端的膝上型计算机,因而可以是例如便携、袖珍、手持、计算机内置或者车载移动装置,它们与无线电接入网进行语音和/或数据通信。
作为非限制性实例,图1A所示的无线电接入网24可以是UMTS陆地无线电接入网(UTRAN)。在UTRAN中,无线电接入优选地基于宽带码分多址(WCDMA),其中各个无线电信道使用CDMA扩频码来分配。当然也可使用其它接入方法。在UTRAN的实例方面,节点26和28分别称作无线电网络控制节点和无线电基站节点。但是,应当理解,术语“无线电网络控制”和“无线电基站”对于其它类型的无线电接入网还包含具有相似功能性的节点。包含其它类型的无线电接入网的其它类型的电信系统包括:全球移动通信系统(GSM);高级移动电话服务(AMPS)系统;窄带AMPS系统(NAMPS);全接入通信系统(TACS);个人数字蜂窝(PDC)系统;美国数字蜂窝(USDC)系统;以及EIA/TIA IS-95中描述的码分多址(CDMA)系统。
无线电接入网24通过接口、如UTRAN的Iu接口连接到核心网络20。图1A的核心网络20其中可包括移动交换中心(MSC)节点、网关MSC节点(GMSC)、网关通用分组无线业务(GPRS)支持节点(GGSN)和服务GPRS支持节点(SGSN)。电路交换(CS)网络或分组交换(PS)网络可连接到核心网络20。
为了简洁起见,图1A的无线电接入网24示为仅具有两个RNC节点26。可提供多个无线电网络控制器节点(RNC),其中各RNC 26连接到一个或多个基站(BS)28。要理解,无线电网络控制器节点26可为与图1A所示的不同数量的基站提供服务,并且RNC无需服务于相同数量的基站。此外,RNC可通过Iur接口连接到无线电接入网24中的一个或多个其它RNC,Iur接口的一个这种实例如图1A所示。无线电网络控制器节点(RNC)26通过接口Iub与宏无线电基站28M进行通信。此外,本领域的技术人员还要理解,基站如宏无线电基站28在本领域有时又称作无线电基站、节点B或者B节点。在图1A中由点划线示出无线电接口32、Iu接口、Iur接口和Iub接口中的每个。
图1A还通过点划线示出“扩展Iub”接口(“Iub+”接口),它存在于毫微微无线电基站28f与RNC节点26之间。Iub+接口在许多方面是常规Iub接口,但具有用于将毫微微RBS重定向到另一个RNC的扩展。扩展Iub+接口优选地通过因特网协议(IP)连接形成。
图1A还示出,无线电接入网24的无线电网络控制器节点(RNC)有权访问RNC选择数据库40。远程单元40可作为RNC选择数据库40的独立节点来提供,如图所示,或者可以是另一个RAN节点的附件(例如包含在一个或多个无线电网络控制器节点(RNC)26中)。或者,在某些情况下,甚至可通过核心网络20来提供对RNC选择数据库40的访问。如图4示出的一个示例格式所示,RNC选择数据库40存储用于将位置指示信息的一个或多个集合与特定无线电网络控制器节点关联的信息,使得通过使用在RNC选择数据库40存储的数据所选择的特定无线电网络控制器节点可用作无线电基站、具体为正在寻求要连接或重定向到的最佳或优选无线电网络控制器节点的毫微微无线电基站如毫微微无线电基站28f-new的活动无线电网络控制器节点。在图1A所示的无线电接入网24中,RNC选择数据库40示为连接到无线电网络控制节点,具体来说连接到第一无线电网络控制器节点RNC 261和第二无线电网络控制器节点RNC 262。
图2示出一个示例通用毫微微无线电基站28f的所选基本典型的组成单元。毫微微无线电基站28f1、28f2、...28fx中的一个或多个可采取图2所示的通用毫微微无线电基站28f的形式。图2的毫微微无线电基站28f示为除了它的其它未示出组成单元以外还包括:接口单元50,用于通过Iub+接口与无线电网络控制器节点26连接;一个或多个射频收发器52;以及数据处理系统、部分或单元56。接口单元50在许多方面是常规Iub接口单元,但具有用于将毫微微RBS重定向到另一个RNC并且帮助将其它配置信息从RNC发送到毫微微RBS的扩展。射频收发器52用于通过无线电接口或空中接口与毫微微无线电基站28f服务的毫微微小区中的用户设备单元(UE)通信。RNC 26与毫微微无线电基站28f之间的连接使用例如基于因特网协议(IP)的传输。
一些毫微微无线电基站节点还可包括接收器,它用于接收对无线电接入网的一个或多个可接收小区广播的扫描小区信息。但是,图1A的毫微微无线电基站28f-new没有这种接收器或者未使用这种接收器。因此,毫微微无线电基站28f-new单独不能或者在其它方面没有预占来自可接收小区(包括WCDMA宏小区和毫微微小区)的用于读取在那些小区中广播的相关扫描小区信息的信号。因此,在第一次激活或第一次移动到新的位置(例如新的宏小区)时,单独的毫微微无线电基站28f-new不知道它在无线电接入网24中的具体位置,因而不能确定它应当连接到的、作为其活动无线电网络控制器节点(RNC)的最佳无线电网络控制器节点。但是,如本文所述,将毫微微无线电基站28f-new配置成获取或确定从与毫微微无线电基站进行无线电通信的用户设备单元得到的位置指示信息,并通过接口Iub+向无线电接入网报告这种位置指示信息。为此,毫微微无线电基站28还包括可选的报告单元60。在图2的所示实现中,报告单元60可包括数据处理系统56或包含在其中,由此作为控制器或处理器的组成部分。报告单元60执行如下服务,例如向无线电接入网24提供从用户设备单元得到的位置指示信息,使得无线电接入网24可(使用例如RNC选择数据库40)确定毫微微无线电基站28f-new应当连接到的无线电网络控制器节点(RNC)。例如在可从用户设备单元向无线电接入网24报告位置指示信息的意义上,报告单元60可以是可选的。
图3示出一个示例无线电网络控制节点26的所选基本典型的组成单元。无线电网络控制节点26可包括若干接口单元,例如:接口单元70,用于通过Iu接口将无线电网络控制器节点26连接到核心网络20;接口单元72,用于通过Iur接口将无线电网络控制器节点26连接到其它(未示出)无线电网络控制器;一个或多个接口单元74,用于通过Iub接口将无线电网络控制节点26连接到相应的一个或多个宏无线电基站28M;以及一个或多个接口单元76,用于通过扩展Iub(“Iub+”)接口将无线电网络控制节点26连接到相应的一个或多个毫微微无线电基站28f1、28f2、...28fx。RNC 26与毫微微无线电基站28M之间的连接可使用例如基于因特网协议(IP)的传输。RNC 26与宏无线电基站28M之间的连接可使用例如基于因特网协议(IP)和/或基于ATM的传输。
除了接口单元之外,无线电网络控制节点26还包括许多未示出的组成单元以及数据处理系统、部分或单元80。如图3所示,在一个非限制性示例实现中,无线电网络控制节点26的数据处理系统80包括:控制部分(例如控制器82);切换单元84;组合器和分离器单元86(例如在处理连接的多样分支中所涉及的);以及毫微微无线电基站处理机88。毫微微无线电基站处理机88包括RNC选择数据库40的搜索器接口90。
图1A-图1E与图5共同示出根据第一示例模式的节点重定向操作的各个示例阶段。在图1A所示的时间,毫微微无线电基站28f-new已经由毫微微操作员或终端用户激活,但如上所述,仍不知道它在无线电接入网24的环境中的具体位置。不知道它的具体位置,毫微微无线电基站28f-new便不知道哪一个无线电网络控制器节点26(在地理上或在其它方面)最佳设置用作毫微微无线电基站28f-new的活动无线电网络控制器。鉴于它对自己在无线电接入网24中的情况不了解,毫微微无线电基站28f-new配置成在激活或启动时通过Iub+接口连接到默认无线电网络控制器节点。在图1A所示的特定实例中,默认无线电网络控制器节点正好是第一无线电网络控制节点261。图1A和图5中的事件S-1A的步骤示出,毫微微无线电基站28f-new连接到它的默认即第一无线电网络控制节点261。
毫微微无线电基站、如毫微微无线电基站28f-new可预先配置(例如在制造或销售等时候),使得在激活时,毫微微无线电基站28f-new搜索到Iub+接口的连接。例如,毫微微无线电基站28f-new的RBS数据处理系统56可编程为将它的接口连接定位到因特网协议(IP)网络,并且开启这种连接。此外,如图2所示,毫微微无线电基站28f-new的RBS数据处理系统56或Iub+接口单元50有权访问默认无线电网络控制器节点的已存储地址。在这方面,图2将毫微微无线电基站28f-new示为具有存储器或寄存器94,它存储默认无线电网络控制器节点(RNC)的IP地址信息(例如DNS名称/FQDN或IP地址)。在图1A的实例中,默认RNC存储器94存储第一网络控制器节点261的IP地址信息。在一个示例实现中,默认RNC的地址可预先存储在默认RNC存储器94中。默认RNC存储器94优选是非易失性的。
在另一个示例实现中,不是将默认RNC的地址预先存储在默认RNC存储器94中,而是默认RNC存储器94可以存储RBS数据处理系统56和/或Iub+接口单元50可联系的IP地址信息,以便获得默认RNC的地址下载。在任一个实现或者其它实现中,毫微微无线电基站由此可配置成最初连接到第一无线电网络控制器节点、如图1A的实例中的无线电网络控制器节点261。
如上所述,在激活和启动时,毫微微无线电基站28f-new实质上不知道它在无线电接入网中的位置。因此,毫微微无线电基站28f-new最初经由Iub+接口连接到它的默认无线电网络控制器节点的目的是,使得毫微微无线电基站28f-new可重定向/重连接到用作活动无线电网络控制器节点的更优选无线电网络控制器节点。在图1A所示的情况下,毫微微无线电基站28f-new位于由无线电基站26M和第二无线电网络控制器节点262提供服务的宏小区CM中。因此,从无线电接入网24的拓扑结构(仍是毫微微无线电基站28f-new未知的)来判断,毫微微无线电基站28f-new的优选无线电网络控制节点是第二无线电网络控制器节点262而不是默认的第一无线电网络控制器节点261。
不知道或者本身无法了解它在无线电接入网24中的位置,由毫微微无线电基站28f-new提供服务的用户设备单元30必须获得位置指示信息,然后将该位置指示信息发送到它的默认无线电网络控制节点。在从毫微微无线电基站28f-new接收到外部获得的位置指示信息时,默认无线电网络控制器节点(例如无线电网络控制器节点261)可查询RNC选择数据库40,以便了解用作毫微微无线电基站28f-new的活动RNC的优选无线电网络控制节点,然后将优选无线电网络控制器节点的标识和地址转发给毫微微无线电基站28f-new。在接收到它的优选无线电网络控制节点的标识和地址时,毫微微无线电基站28f-new可通过Iub+接口连接到它的优选无线电网络控制节点(例如无线电网络控制器节点262)。
图1A示出毫微微无线电基站28f-new的激活或启动(初始激活/启动或者在毫微微无线电基站28f-new重定位之后激活/启动)以及通过Iub+接口联系它的默认无线电网络控制器节点(例如第一网络控制器节点261)时的情况。图1B-图1E示出在操作无线电接入网24由此将毫微微无线电基站28f-new重定向到作为其活动无线电网络控制节点的优选RNC的方法中所涉及的操作的其它连续阶段。
图1B示出用户设备单元(UE)30进入毫微微无线电基站28f-new的覆盖区域、例如进入毫微微小区Cf-new并与毫微微无线电基站28f-new建立无线电通信的时间点(在图1A的激活阶段之后)。用户设备单元(UE)30具有某个位置指示信息,从其中可推导出或者以其它方式确定用户设备单元(UE)30的位置。在加入与用户设备单元(UE)30的无线电通信时,毫微微无线电基站28f-new变得私下参与,并知道用户设备单元(UE)30所拥有的位置指示信息。图1B和图5通过步骤和线S-1B示出,用户设备单元(UE)30所拥有的位置指示信息由毫微微无线电基站28f-new通过空中接口32接收并由毫微微无线电基站28f-new通过Iub+接口发送到它的默认无线电网络控制器节点、如第一无线电网络控制器节点261。在一些实施例中,RBS数据处理系统56的一部分、如报告单元60可负责检查从用户设备单元(UE)30接收的信息,过滤或者以其它方式提取位置指示信息,并准备位置指示信息以便通过Iub+接口发送到默认无线电网络控制节点。优选地,在用户设备单元30与第一无线电网络控制器节点261之间传输位置指示信息。
用户设备单元(UE)30拥有并由毫微微无线电基站28f-new获取的位置指示信息可具有若干类型或者类型组合,诸如(例如)位置区域识别码(LAI)、路由区域识别码(RAI)、小区检测信息和/或测量报告,随后进行说明。
图1C示出默认无线电网络控制器节点如第一无线电网络控制器节点261在所示情况下联系RNC选择数据库40尽力确定毫微微无线电基站28f-new使用的正确RNC节点的操作的一个阶段。在通过Iub+接口从毫微微无线电基站28f-new接收到位置指示信息时,默认无线电网络控制器节点261通过它的毫微微无线电基站处理机88(具体来说通过它的搜索器接口90)与RNC选择数据库40通信,如图1C和图5中的线及步骤S-1C所示。通信包括从默认无线电网络控制器节点261到RNC选择数据库40的询问消息和从RNC选择数据库40到无线电网络控制器节点261的响应消息。来自默认无线电网络控制器节点261的询问消息包括位置指示信息,它由RNC选择数据库40以参照图4理解的方式用来获得毫微微无线电基站28f-new的优选或所选RNC的标识和/或地址。在这方面,RNC选择数据库40将位置指示信息看作信息集合,并将位置指示信息集合与成为毫微微无线电基站28f-new的所选无线电网络控制器节点的优选无线电网络控制节点的识别码/地址匹配或者映射到其中。此后,由RNC选择数据库40所选的无线电网络控制节点的识别码和/或地址由RNC选择数据库40在图1C和图5的响应消息S-1C中发送到默认无线电网络控制器节点、如第一无线电网络控制器节点RNC 261。
在图1A-图1E具体所示的情况下,毫微微无线电基站28f-new的优选或所选无线电网络控制节点是第二无线电网络控制器节点262,如前面所述的。
如图1C所示来自RNC选择数据库40的响应消息通知默认无线电网络控制器节点关于毫微微无线电基站28f-new的优选无线电网络控制器节点的识别码/地址。例如,诸如毫微微无线电基站处理机88等的单元接收优选无线电网络控制器节点的识别码/地址。此后,在图1D所示操作的阶段,毫微微无线电基站28f-new的优选无线电网络控制器节点的识别码/地址由默认无线电网络控制器节点通过Iub+接口传递给无线电基站(BS)28(如图1D和图5中的线及步骤S-1D所示)。由此指令毫微微无线电基站使用参考RNC选择数据库40所选的第二无线电网络控制器节点而不是默认无线电网络控制器节点作为活动无线电网络控制器节点。毫微微无线电基站28f-new的优选无线电网络控制器节点的识别码/地址由Iub+接口单元50接收,并存储在寄存器或存储器96中,如图2所示。因此,寄存器或存储器96又称作重定向RNC地址存储器96,并且优选地是Iub+接口单元50和RBS数据处理系统56可存取的。
图1E示出这时知道它的优选无线电网络控制器节点的识别码或地址的毫微微无线电基站28f-new努力重新连接到它的优选无线电网络控制器节点的操作的另一个阶段。换言之,在图1A-图1E的情况下,毫微微无线电基站28f-new尝试重新连接到第二无线电网络控制器节点262。与它的优选无线电网络控制节点的联系通过使用这时存储在重定向RNC地址存储器96中的标识/地址信息来实现。与优选无线电网络控制节点、例如与第二无线电网络控制器节点262的联系通过图1E和图5中的线及步骤S-1E示出。
在毫微微无线电基站28f-new从它的默认无线电网络控制器接收到它将被重定向到的所选无线电网络控制器的地址的情况下,这种地址(存储在重定向RNC地址存储器96中)可与到用作毫微微无线电基站28f-new的活动无线电网络控制器的新无线电网络控制器的因特网协议连接结合使用。在获得与毫微微无线电基站28f-new的所选无线电网络控制节点的地址不同的标识信息的另一种情况下,毫微微无线电基站28f-new可将另一个IP地址与所选节点标识信息联系起来,并从另一个IP地址的服务器等获得用于联系毫微微无线电基站28f-new将定向到的无线电网络控制节点的地址。
在与它的优选或所选无线电网络控制节点进行连接时,毫微微无线电基站28f-new能够在执行由其服务的移动台(例如用户设备单元)的连接处理时通过它的当前优选无线电网络控制节点进行通信。
如果此后将毫微微无线电基站28f-new重新定位到无线电接入网24中的另一个位置,则将再次执行图1A-图1E所示的步骤和阶段。在这种情况下,毫微微无线电基站28f-new将再次(在重新定位之后激活时)连接到它的默认无线电网络控制节点(例如第一无线电网络控制器节点261)。或者,已移动或正在移动的毫微微无线电基站28f-new可能够与它的前一个RNC保持联系,该RNC可通过类似方式用作默认RNC(并且它知道在获得反映毫微微无线电基站28f-new移动的新位置指示信息时毫微微无线电基站28f-new已经移动)。此后(例如在从用户设备单元(UE)获得位置指示信息时),可将毫微微无线电基站28f-new重定向到例如由RNC选择数据库40所选的优选或“正确”的无线电网络控制节点。
在一个示例实现中,从用户设备单元获得的并由毫微微无线电基站提供给第一无线电网络控制器节点的位置指示信息是由用户设备单元(UE)30获取的区域标识信息。例如,区域标识信息是下列识别码之一:(1)在用户设备单元进入毫微微无线电基站的小区后用户设备单元执行位置区域更新时从用户设备单元得到的位置区域识别码(LAI);以及(2)在用户设备单元进入毫微微无线电基站的小区后用户设备单元执行路由区域更新时从用户设备单元得到的路由区域识别码(RAI)。
图6示出根据另一种示例模式的节点重定向操作。图6的示例事件或步骤包括图5的示例事件或步骤的相似标号的示例事件或步骤,但是还示出了事件或步骤S-6。在图6的模式中,作为事件或步骤S-6,在毫微微无线电基站28f-new连接到默认无线电网络控制节点。第一(默认)无线电网络控制器节点将用户设备单元30配置成使用户设备单元30能够在当前频率上检测小区(当前频率由毫微微无线电基站和宏无线电基站使用)。默认无线电网络控制器(RNC)(即无线电网络控制器节点261)知道毫微微无线电基站使用哪个频率,因为在步骤S-6无线电网络控制器(RNC)261自动配置了毫微微RBS 28f-new的无线电部分。默认无线电网络控制器(RNC)261实际上不能确定在特定无线电基站的位置还存在宏小区,但是,本发明令用户设备单元向当前无线电网络控制器(RNC)261报告在相同频率上检测到的宏和毫微微小区,如果有的话。用户设备单元30然后在毫微微无线电基站28f-new也以其进行操作的频率上检测小区。然后,作为步骤S-1B(6),将所检测小区的小区标识信息作为从与毫微微无线电基站28f进行通信的用户设备单元30得到的位置指示信息提供给默认无线电网络控制器节点。图6模式的事件的其余步骤实质上与前面所述的图5模式相应标号的步骤相似。
现行规范(3GPP TS 25.331 V6.10.0)规定,小区标识信息仅包含扰码和Ec/No(每个芯片的预期接收功率与频带中的接收功率密度之比)和/或所检测未知小区(即所检测集合中的小区)的接收信号代码功率(RSCP)测量值。扰码通常还在UTRAN网络中再使用,因此,大概不可能根据用特定扰码的一个小区的检测来查明位置(因为这个代码还可在网络的另外部分再使用)。但是,根据再使用因数,所检测小区可与其它方法/模式(例如以下描述的图8的模式)结合使用。另外,小区规划数据库或工具可提供其它相邻小区的可能列表,其随后需要用其它机制进行检查(例如检查频率间小区的存在)。
鉴于图6模式的默认无线电网络控制节点将默认或指定频率下载到通过毫微微无线电基站28f-new连接的用户设备单元的事实,图7示出,默认无线电网络控制器节点(例如默认无线电网络控制器的毫微微无线电基站处理机88)可配备存储器或寄存器100等(优选地为非易失性的),其中存储供下载到毫微微无线电基站的默认频率。在其它方面,图6的示范实施例和模式的默认无线电网络控制节点与前面所述的相似。
图8示出节点重定向操作的又一个实施例和示例模式。相对于图6和图5的前面所述的对应标号步骤来理解图8的各个示例步骤。在图8的示例实施例和模式中,默认无线电网络控制器节点将用户设备单元30配置成使用户设备单元30能够检测小区,小区中的不同小区操作在对应的不同频率。在这方面,如图8a中的步骤或事件S-8(1)所反映的,可命令以连接模式的用户设备单元(UE)对其它频率间小区或其它RAT间(即GSM)小区进行测量,希望将这些小区添加在所监测集合中。图8示出(作为步骤S-8(2)),用户设备单元(UE)报告在步骤S-8(1)中命令的频率测量。图8还示出,作为步骤S-8(3),默认无线电网络控制器节点261将一个或多个所测量频率的小区添加到所监测集合,并且作为步骤S-8(4),用户设备单元(UE)返回所监测集合的小区的测量。
命令这类测量(如图8的步骤S-8(1)-S-8(4)所反映的)可基于反复试验方法或逻辑。换言之,步骤S-8(1)-S-8(4)中的一个或多个可按照默认无线电网络控制器的小区选择逻辑迭代地重复进行。在这方面,对于图8的示例模式和实施例,图9示出,示例默认无线电网络控制器节点(例如在它的毫微微无线电基站处理机88中)具有小区选择逻辑功能性102,它结合步骤S-8(1)-S-8(4)来选择或确定要下载的小区/频率。在其它方面,图6的示范实施例和模式的默认无线电网络控制与前面所述的相似。
作为以上对于图8模式的变化所述的反复试验方法/逻辑的一个实例,例如根据LAI/RAI和/或在相同频率上报告的被检测集合,默认无线电网络控制器可添加一些宏小区,以便验证用户设备单元是否可监听这些单元。测量报告应当配置成使得用户设备单元在检测到时立即报告该小区。如果用户设备单元(UE)没有进行任何报告,则默认无线电网络控制器可改变所监测集合,并添加另一个小区,依此类推,直到存在与毫微微RBS的位置有关的足够信息为止。用户设备单元30然后可在对应的不同频率上检测小区。将所检测小区的小区标识信息作为从与毫微微无线电基站28f进行通信的用户设备单元30得到的位置指示信息提供给默认无线电网络控制器节点。
在以上所述的图6模式/实施例中,LAI/RAI信息与在相同频率所检测未知小区一起可能足以识别宏小区。这将基于在一个LAI/RAI中没有再使用扰码。但是,如果证明在一个LA/RA中再使用扰码,则对于最佳地定位毫微微无线电基站28f-new需要附加信息。在需要附加信息的这种情况下,图6的模式之后是另一个模式、如图8的模式,或者图6模式中的至少一些步骤与另一种模式、如图8的模式结合使用。例如,图8的模式例如使用如上所述的频率间小区测量,并且根据先前步骤检索的信息将那些频率的小区添加到所监测集合。
因此,可并行或者依次使用一个或多个节点重定向操作的步骤。换言之,默认或第一无线电网络控制器节点可指令用户设备单元按照第一定位策略进行操作,如果第一定位策略提供了用于定位毫微微无线电基站的不充分信息,则第一无线电网络控制器节点可指令用户设备单元按照第二定位策略进行操作。
组合模式可产生新的模式,例如图10所示的示例实施例和模式。图10的模式组合了来自图6模式的一些步骤和来自图8模式的一些步骤。在这方面,图10模式通过实现图6模式的步骤、如步骤S-6和步骤S-1B(6)开始,在步骤S-6中,第一(默认)无线电网络控制器节点按照第一定位策略将用户设备单元30配置成例如使用户设备单元30能够在默认或指定频率上检测小区,而在步骤S-1B(6)中,将所检测小区的小区标识信息作为从与毫微微无线电基站28f进行通信的用户设备单元30得到的位置指示信息提供给默认无线电网络控制器节点。在图10模式中,步骤S-1B(6)提供的小区标识信息因许多原因、例如在一个LA/RA中再使用扰码等而不充分(如步骤S-10所反映的)。这样,并且如步骤S-10进一步反映的,默认无线电网络控制器节点转换模式,例如从图6的模式转换到图8的模式,其变成第二定位策略。因此,图8模式的步骤示为在步骤S-10的确定和转换之后。为了适合确定和转换,图11示出图10的实施例和模式的默认无线电网络控制节点的一个示例配置,其中具有存储器或寄存器100等(在其中存储供下载到毫微微无线电基站的默认频率)以及小区选择逻辑功能性102,它结合步骤S-8(1)-S-8(4)来选择或确定要下载的小区/频率。图10实施例的毫微微无线电基站处理机88具有用于确定按照第一尝试模式(例如图6的模式)从用户设备单元(UE)收集的信息不充分的时间,并用于转换到第二模式(例如图8的模式)。
因此,作为该技术的一个方面,毫微微无线电基站28f-new配置成连接到无线电接入网的默认无线电网络控制器节点,此后向默认无线电网络控制器节点提供从(与毫微微无线电基站28f-new进行通信的)用户设备单元30得到的位置指示信息。毫微微无线电基站28f-new还配置成此后在接收到基于位置指示信息的重定向信息时,用第二无线电网络控制器节点取代默认无线电网络控制器节点作为毫微微无线电基站28f-new的活动无线电网络控制器节点。
作为该技术的另一个方面,默认无线电网络控制器节点配置成使用从与毫微微无线电基站进行通信的用户设备单元得到的位置指示信息来确定毫微微无线电基站应当使用哪一个其它无线电网络控制器节点作为其活动无线电网络控制器节点。
因此,毫微微无线电基站28f-new最初连接到网络中的默认RNC。在毫微微无线电基站28f-new中配置这个默认RNC的地址或识别码。当用户设备单元(UE)联系毫微微无线电基站28f-new时,用户设备单元(UE)向默认RNC提供与周围WCDMA覆盖有关的某种信息(例如位置指示信息)。默认RNC使用所接收的信息,并将毫微微无线电基站28f-new重定向到另一个RNC、即“正确的”或“所选的”或“优选的”RNC。
正确的RNC稍后还可通过查看从UE接收的其它信息来检查毫微微RBS是否已经移动到另一个位置。
下面提供RNC可用来查找毫微微无线电基站28f-new应当连接到的正确RNC的信息和过程类型的实例。
默认RNC可用唯一位置区域识别码(LAI)来配置。这意味着,当UE进入毫微微无线电基站28f-new的毫微微小区时,用户设备单元(UE)将触发位置区域更新。默认RNC然后可执行‘层违反’,并检查移动性管理消息位置区域更新,以便查找用户设备单元(UE)成功登记的上一个LAI。在一些情况下,这可给出毫微微无线电基站28f-new位置的相当好的估计。但是,在用户设备单元(UE)在远离毫微微无线电基站28f-new的位置关机然后在毫微微无线电基站28f-new的毫微微小区中开机的情况下,这种LAI方法不太适用。可通过检查由用户设备单元(UE)不止一次报告同一LAI来改进这种方法。另一种改进将是还检查位置更新的类型。如果它指示“IMSI附上”,则用户设备单元(UE)开机,并且LAI什么也指望不上。如果类型指示“常规位置更新”,则LAI更加值得信任。
如果相同频率用于宏和毫微微小区,则RNC可将用户设备单元(UE)配置用于测量,以便在相同频率检测未知小区(使用测量事件(ID)。这样,UE可指示周围UTRAN小区的情况,并且RNC能够将UE重定向到正确的RNC。
如果没将相同频率用于宏和毫微微小区,则RNC可将用户设备单元(UE)配置用于频率间测量,以便在其它频率检测小区。这可基于试错机制,使得RNC检查用户设备单元(UE)是否能监听不同的小区。如果小区的一个集合没有提供来自用户设备单元(UE)的任何测量结果,则RNC需要改变小区集合并再次尝试。这样,UE可指示周围UTRAN小区的情况,并且(默认)RNC能够将UE重定向到正确的RNC。
因此,作为该技术的一个优点,毫微微RBS、如毫微微无线电基站28f-new可由终端用户(例如毫微微操作员)移动,并且它仍会连接到正确的RNC。
如前面所述,上述原理/方法还可适用于其它无线电技术。该技术具体与上述和适当描述的系统及情况相关,但也可适用于其它情况以及其它网络。虽然已经详细说明和描述了本发明的各种实施例,但权利要求书不限于任何具体实施例或实例。以上描述不应当被理解为表示任何具体单元、步骤、范围或功能是绝对必要的。本发明不是要限制到所公开的实施例,而是意在涵盖各种修改和等效配置。
Claims (24)
1.一种操作无线电接入网的方法,其特征在于:
将毫微微无线电基站(28f-new)连接到所述无线电接入网(24)的第一无线电网络控制器节点(261);
从所述毫微微无线电基站(28f-new)向第一无线电网络控制器节点(261)提供从与所述毫微微无线电基站进行通信的用户设备单元(30)得到的信息;
使用从所述用户设备单元(30)得到的所述信息来确定取代第一无线电网络控制器节点(261)作为所述毫微微无线电基站(28f-new)的活动无线电网络控制器节点的第二无线电网络控制器节点(262)。
2.如权利要求1所述的方法,还包括:指令所述毫微微无线电基站(28f-new)利用第二无线电网络控制器节点(262)而不是第一无线电网络控制器节点(261)作为所述活动无线电网络控制器节点。
3.如权利要求1所述的方法,其中,第一无线电网络控制器节点(261)是默认无线电网络控制器节点,并且还包括:将所述毫微微无线电基站(28f-new)预先配置成连接到第一无线电网络控制器节点(261)。
4.如权利要求1所述的方法,其中,从所述用户设备单元(30)得到的并由所述毫微微无线电基站(28f-new)提供给第一无线电网络控制器节点(261)的所述信息是如下之一:(1)在所述用户设备单元(30)进入所述毫微微无线电基站(28f-new)的小区后,所述用户设备单元(30)执行位置区域更新时从所述用户设备单元(30)得到的位置区域识别码;以及(2)在所述用户设备单元(30)进入所述毫微微无线电基站(28f-new)的小区后,所述用户设备单元(30)执行路由区域更新时,从所述用户设备单元(30)得到的路由区域识别码。
5.如权利要求1所述的方法,还包括:
第一无线电网络控制器节点(261)将所述用户设备单元(30)配置成使所述用户设备单元(30)能够在指定频率上检测至少一个小区,所述指定频率由所述毫微微无线电基站(28f-new)和宏无线电基站使用;
使用所述用户设备单元(30)在所述指定频率上检测至少一个小区;
将至少一个所检测小区的小区标识信息作为从与所述毫微微无线电基站(28f-new)进行通信的所述用户设备单元(30)得到的所述信息提供给第一无线电网络控制器节点(261)。
6.如权利要求1所述的方法,还包括:
第一无线电网络控制器节点(261)将所述用户设备单元(30)配置成使所述用户设备单元(30)能够操作在不同频率以便检测至少一个小区;
使用所述用户设备单元(30)来检测至少一个小区;
将至少一个所检测小区的小区标识信息作为从与所述毫微微无线电基站(28f-new)进行通信的所述用户设备单元(30)得到的所述信息提供给第一无线电网络控制器节点(261)。
7.如权利要求6所述的方法,其中,将所述用户设备单元(30)配置成使所述用户设备单元(30)能够操作在不同频率的步骤包括:反复试验更改所述用户设备单元(30)的所监测集合。
8.如权利要求1所述的方法,还包括:
第一无线电网络控制器节点(261)指令所述用户设备单元(30)按照第一定位策略进行操作;
如果第一定位策略为定位所述毫微微无线电基站(28f-new)提供了不充分的信息,则第一无线电网络控制器节点(261)指令所述用户设备单元(30)按照第二定位策略进行操作。
9.如权利要求8所述的方法,其中,第一定位策略包括:第一无线电网络控制器节点(261)将所述用户设备单元(30)配置成使所述用户设备单元(30)能够在指定频率上检测至少一个小区,
并且其中,第二定位策略包括:第一无线电网络控制器节点(261)将所述用户设备单元(30)配置成使所述用户设备单元(30)能够操作在不同频率以便检测至少一个小区。
10.如权利要求9所述的方法,其中,所述不同频率包括频率间小区的频率和无线电接入技术间小区的频率中的之一或二者。
11.一种毫微微无线电基站(28f-new),包括:
用于连接到无线电接入网(24)的第一无线电网络控制器节点(261)的装置,
用于向第一无线电网络控制器节点(261)提供从与所述毫微微无线电基站(28f-new)进行通信的用户设备单元(30)得到的位置指示信息的装置,和
用于在接收到基于所述位置指示信息的重定向信息时,用第二无线电网络控制器节点(262)取代第一无线电网络控制器节点(261)作为所述毫微微无线电基站(28f-new)的活动无线电网络控制器节点的装置。
12.如权利要求11所述的毫微微无线电基站(28f-new),其中,第一无线电网络控制器节点(261)是默认无线电网络控制器节点,并且其中,所述毫微微无线电基站(28f-new)预先配置成连接到第一无线电网络控制器节点(261)。
13.如权利要求11所述的毫微微无线电基站(28f-new),其中,从所述用户设备单元(30)得到的并经由所述毫微微无线电基站(28f-new)提供给第一无线电网络控制器节点(261)的所述位置指示信息是如下之一:(1)在所述用户设备单元(30)进入所述毫微微无线电基站(28f-new)的小区后所述用户设备单元(30)执行位置区域更新时从所述用户设备单元(30)得到的位置区域识别码;以及(2)在所述用户设备单元(30)进入所述毫微微无线电基站(28f-new)的小区后所述用户设备单元(30)执行路由区域更新时从所述用户设备单元(30)得到的路由区域识别码。
14.如权利要求11所述的毫微微无线电基站(28f-new),其中,从所述用户设备单元(30)得到的所述位置指示信息是所述用户设备单元(30)检测到的小区标识信息。
15.无线电接入网(24)的第一无线电网络控制器节点,所述第一无线电网络控制器节点包括:
用于使用从与毫微微无线电基站(28f-new)进行通信的用户设备单元(30)得到的位置指示信息来确定所述毫微微无线电基站(28f-new)应当使用哪一个其它无线电网络控制器节点作为其活动无线电网络控制器节点的装置。
16.如权利要求15所述的第一无线电网络控制器节点,其中,所述第一无线电网络控制器节点(261)配置用于指令所述毫微微无线电基站(28f-new)利用第二无线电网络控制器节点(262)作为所述活动无线电网络控制器节点。
17.如权利要求15所述的第一无线电网络控制器节点,其中,从所述用户设备单元(30)得到的并由所述毫微微无线电基站(28f-new)提供给所述第一无线电网络控制器节点(261)的所述信息是如下之一:(1)在所述用户设备单元(30)进入所述毫微微无线电基站(28f-new)的小区后所述用户设备单元(30)执行位置区域更新时从所述用户设备单元(30)得到的位置区域识别码;以及(2)在所述用户设备单元(30)进入所述毫微微无线电基站(28f-new)的小区后所述用户设备单元(30)执行路由区域更新时从所述用户设备单元(30)得到的路由区域识别码。
18.如权利要求15所述的第一无线电网络控制器节点,其中,第一无线电网络控制器节点(261)还配置成指令所述用户设备单元(30)检测至少一个小区,并且其中,从与所述毫微微无线电基站(28f-new)进行通信的所述用户设备单元(30)得到的所述位置指示信息包括至少一个所检测小区的小区标识信息。
19.如权利要求15所述的第一无线电网络控制器节点,其中,第一无线电网络控制器节点(261)还配置成指令所述用户设备单元(30)在指定频率上检测至少一个小区,所述指定频率由所述毫微微无线电基站(28f-new)和宏无线电基站使用,并且其中,从与所述毫微微无线电基站(28f-new)进行通信的所述用户设备单元(30)得到的所述位置指示信息包括至少一个所检测小区的小区标识信息。
20.如权利要求15所述的第一无线电网络控制器节点,其中,第一无线电网络控制器节点(261)还配置成指令所述用户设备单元(30)通过操作在不同频率来检测至少一个小区;并且其中,从与所述毫微微无线电基站(28f-new)进行通信的所述用户设备单元(30)得到的所述位置指示信息包括至少一个所检测小区的小区标识信息。
21.如权利要求20所述的第一无线电网络控制器节点,其中,第一无线电网络控制器节点(261)配置成使所述用户设备单元(30)能够以反复试验方法进行操作以改变所述用户设备单元(30)的所监测集合。
22.如权利要求15所述的第一无线电网络控制器节点,其中,第一无线电网络控制器节点(261)设置用于指令所述用户设备单元(30)按照第一定位策略进行操作,并且还设置成:如果第一定位策略为定位所述毫微微无线电基站(28f-new)提供了不充分的信息,则指令所述用户设备单元(30)按照第二定位策略进行操作。
23.如权利要求22所述的第一无线电网络控制器节点,其中,第一定位策略包括:第一无线电网络控制器节点(261)将所述用户设备单元(30)配置成使所述用户设备单元(30)能够在指定频率上检测至少一个小区,并且其中,第二定位策略包括:第一无线电网络控制器节点(261)将所述用户设备单元(30)配置成使所述用户设备单元(30)能够操作在不同频率以便检测至少一个小区。
24.如权利要求23所述的第一无线电网络控制器节点,其中,所述不同频率包括频率间小区的频率和无线电接入技术间小区的频率中的之一或二者。
