トルクコンバータ1は、エンジン側のクランクシャフト(図示せず)からトランスミッションの入力シャフトにトルクを伝達するための装置であり、入力側の部材に固定されるフロントカバー2と、3種の羽根車(インペラ3、タービン4、ステータ5)からなるトルクコンバータ本体6と、ロックアップ装置7と、から構成されている。

以上のような構成において、クラッチ用ボス40のフランジ40aの外周面及びフロントカバー2の段付き部2aには、シール部材42,43が設けられている。これにより、ピストン37の内周面とクラッチ用ボス40との間及びピストン37の円筒部37aとフロントカバー2の段付き部2aとの間がシールされ、クラッチオフ用の第1油室44aが形成されている。また、ピストン37のタービン4側に突出した環状の突出部37dにはシール部材45が設けられている。これにより、ピストン37と油室形成部材38との間がシールされ、クラッチオン用の第2油室44bが形成されている。

中間部材31に伝達されたトルクは、内周側トーションスプリング32を介してドリブンプレート33に伝達され、さらにタービンハブ17を介してトランスミッション側の部材に伝達される。このとき、中間部材31にはダイナミックダンパ装置34が設けられているので、エンジンの回転変動を効果的に抑制することができる。すなわち、ダンパプレート52の回転と2つのイナーシャリング53,54との回転は、コイルスプリング55の作用によって位相にズレが生じる。具体的には、所定のエンジン回転数においてイナーシャリング53,54はダンパプレート52の回転速度変動を打ち消す位相で変動する。この位相のズレによって、トランスミッションの回転速度変動を吸収することができる。
(1)イナーシャリング53,54の内部にコイルスプリング55を収容しているので、特に、軸方向におけるダイナミックダンパ装置の占有スペースをコンパクトにすることができる。そして、これらの部材を慣性(イナーシャ)として機能させることができ、トルクコンバータ全体の重量を軽くすることができる。
図11に本発明の第2実施形態によるロックアップ装置を備えたトルクコンバータ60の断面部分図を示している。第1実施形態と同様に、図11の左側にはエンジンが配置され、図の右側にトランスミッションが配置されている。また、図11に示すO-Oがトルクコンバータ及びロックアップ装置の回転軸線である。
トルクコンバータ60は、基本的な構成は第1実施形態と同様であり、フロントカバー62と、3種の羽根車(インペラ63、タービン64、ステータ65)からなるトルクコンバータ本体66と、ロックアップ装置67と、を備えている。
図12に、図11のロックアップ装置67を抽出して示している。ロックアップ装置67は、フロントカバー62とタービン64との間の環状の空間に配置されている。ロックアップ装置67は、クラッチ部85と、ドライブプレート94と、複数の内周側トーションスプリング86と、中間部材87と、複数の外周側トーションスプリング88と、ドリブンプレート(出力回転部材)89と、ダイナミックダンパ装置90と、を有している。
クラッチ部85は、フロントカバー62に対向して軸方向に移動自在に配置されており、フロントカバー62からのトルクが入力される。クラッチ部85は、ピストン92と、摩擦部材93と、を有している。
ドライブプレート94は、円板状の部材であり、内周部がリベット96によってピストン92の内周部に固定されている。また、ドライブプレート94の外周部には複数の窓部94aが形成されている。この複数の窓部94aに内周側トーションスプリング86が収容されている。
中間部材87は、ピストン92とタービン64との間に配置されており、第1プレート98と第2プレート99とから構成されている。第1プレート98及び第2プレート99は、環状かつ円板状の部材であり、ドライブプレート94及びドリブンプレート89に対して相対回転自在である。第1プレート98はエンジン側に配置され、第2プレート99はトランスミッション側に配置されている。第1プレート98と第2プレート99とは、複数のリベット100によって互いに相対回転不能でかつ軸方向に移動不能に連結されている。
ドリブンプレート89は、環状かつ円板状の部材であり、内周部がタービンシェル75とともにリベット78によってタービンハブ77のフランジ77aに固定されている。このドリブンプレート89は、中間部材87とタービン64との間に配置されている。そして、ドリブンプレート89の外周部には、外周側トーションスプリング88の両端に係合する複数の係合部89aが形成されている。複数の係合部89aは、ドリブンプレート89の外周部をエンジン側に折り曲げて形成されたものである。
以上のような構成では、ドライブプレート94と、中間部材87を構成する第1及び第2プレート98,99と、複数の内周側トーションスプリング86と、によって、入力側ダンパ機構Diが構成されている。このような構成では、ドライブプレート94及び内周側トーションスプリング86が第1及び第2プレート98,99によって軸方向に挟み込まれている。このタイプの入力側ダンパ機構Diにおいて発生するヒステリシストルクは比較的小さい。
図13にダイナミックダンパ装置90を抽出して示している。ダイナミックダンパ装置90は、寸法形状は異なるが、基本的な構成は第1実施形態のダイナミックダンパ装置34と同様である。すなわち、ダンパプレート102と、第1及び第2イナーシャリング103,104と、複数のコイルスプリング(ダイナミックダンパ用弾性部材)105と、を有している。
トルクコンバータ本体の動作については第1実施形態と同様である。トルクコンバータ60の速度比があがり、入力シャフトが一定の回転速度になると、フロントカバー62とピストン92との間の作動油がドレンされ、ピストン92のタービン64側に作動油が供給される。すると、ピストン92はフロントカバー62側に移動させられ、この結果、ピストン92の外周部に固定された摩擦部材93がフロントカバー62に押圧され、クラッチ部85はオンになる。
本発明は以上のような実施形態に限定されるものではなく、本発明の範囲を逸脱することなく種々の変形又は修正が可能である。

Claims (11)
- エンジン側の部材に連結されるフロントカバーとトルクコンバータ本体との間に配置され、前記フロントカバーからのトルクを前記トルクコンバータ本体のタービンに直接伝達するためのロックアップ装置であって、
前記フロントカバーからのトルクを出力側に伝達するクラッチ部と、
前記クラッチ部と相対回転自在であり、前記タービンに連結された出力回転部材と、
前記クラッチ部と前記出力回転部材とを回転方向に弾性的に連結するための複数のトルク伝達用弾性部材と、
前記クラッチ部及び前記出力回転部材と相対回転自在であり、前記複数のトルク伝達用弾性部材のうちの少なくとも2つを直列的に作用させるための中間部材と、
軸方向に分割され互いに軸方向に対向する収容凹部を有する第1及び第2イナーシャリングと、前記第1及び第2イナーシャリングの収容凹部に収容され前記中間部材と前記第1及び第2イナーシャリングとを弾性的に連結する複数のダイナミックダンパ用弾性部材と、を有するダイナミックダンパ装置と、
を備えたトルクコンバータのロックアップ装置。 - 前記複数のトルク伝達用弾性部材は、
前記クラッチ部と前記中間部材とを回転方向に弾性的に連結する複数の第1弾性部材と、
前記複数の第1弾性部材と前記中間部材を介して直列的に作用し、前記中間部材と前記出力回転部材とを回転方向に弾性的に連結する複数の第2弾性部材と、
を有する、
請求項1に記載のトルクコンバータのロックアップ装置。 - 前記複数の第1弾性部材は前記複数の第2弾性部材の外周側に配置されている、請求項2に記載のトルクコンバータのロックアップ装置。
- 前記クラッチ部は、
複数のクラッチプレートと、
前記複数のクラッチプレートを互いに押圧するためのピストンと、
前記複数のクラッチプレートと前記複数のトルク伝達用弾性部材とを連結するドライブプレートと、
を有し、
前記ピストンは、前記複数のクラッチプレートを挟んで前記フロントカバーに対向するように配置されている、
請求項1から3のいずれかに記載のトルクコンバータのロックアップ装置。 - 前記ピストンの前記フロントカバーと逆側に配置されるとともに前記フロントカバーと同期して回転可能であり、前記ピストンとの間に油室を形成するための油室形成部材さらに備えた、請求項4に記載のトルクコンバータのロックアップ装置。
- 前記クラッチ部の前記トルクコンバータ本体側において、前記クラッチプレートに近接して配置された仕切り板をさらに備えた、請求項5に記載のトルクコンバータのロックアップ装置。
- 前記油室形成部材は円板状に形成されており、
前記仕切り板は、前記油室形成部材の外周をさらに径方向外方に延長して形成されている、請求項6に記載のトルクコンバータのロックアップ装置。 - 前記複数の第1弾性部材のうちの少なくとも2つの第1弾性部材を直列的に作用させるためのフロート部材をさらに備えている、請求項2に記載のトルクコンバータのロックアップ装置。
- 前記複数の第1弾性部材は前記複数の第2弾性部材の内周側に配置されている、請求項2に記載のトルクコンバータのロックアップ装置。
- 前記クラッチ部は、前記フロントカバーと前記中間部材との間に軸方向移動自在に配置されたピストンを有し、前記ピストンは、外周部に前記フロントカバーに圧接される摩擦部材を有する、請求項1に記載のトルクコンバータのロックアップ装置。
- 前記ダイナミックダンパ装置は、前記中間部材と前記ダイナミックダンパ用弾性部材との間に設けられたダンパプレートをさらに有し、
前記ダンパプレートは、内周部が前記中間部材の前記第1弾性部材と前記第2弾性部材との径方向間に連結され、外周部に前記ダイナミックダンパ用弾性部材に係合する係合部を有する、
請求項2又は9に記載のトルクコンバータのロックアップ装置。
