Definitions
- the present invention relates to an electromagnetic wave absorber and a method for manufacturing the same, and more particularly, to a broadband electromagnetic wave absorber and a method for manufacturing the same, which can be used in a device that emits electromagnetic waves to absorb a wide range of electromagnetic waves.
- Electromagnetic wave absorbing materials suppress noise that causes device malfunctions in electronic devices (circuit patterns, mounting parts, cables, etc.) that are becoming thin and short in recent years, and cross-talk between circuit blocks and It suppresses dielectric coupling in adjacent substrates and plays an important role in improving the reception sensitivity of antennas and reducing human effects from electromagnetic waves.
- broadband application of electromagnetic wave absorbing materials is essential to be applied to electronic components used in various frequency bands.
- Electromagnetic wave absorption technology in the near field eliminates electromagnetic noise to improve signal quality at broadband by reducing electromagnetic interference and digital-analog signal interference due to multi-functional high-density mounting and high frequency of electronic components and single chips. It is urgent to develop chip-level ultra-thin absorbent materials that can control interference. Today's chip-level ultra-thin absorbent materials are used worldwide to prevent malfunction and degradation of electronic components and chips due to conducted noise, coupling, electromagnetic radiation and digital-analog interference of complex fine signal lines in unit space. There is an urgent need for measures against electromagnetic interference in the high frequency region.
- electromagnetic wave absorption technology in near and far field is the core of next-generation EMC, RFID, and military concealment technology, and it is required to develop a broadband absorption material in which new dielectric and magnetic materials are combined.
- High permeability magnetic materials are mainly used for excellent absorption. However, most magnetic materials have almost no loss of permeability in the band because resonance occurs due to high frequency. In addition, since the magnetic spin has directivity, it is very difficult to finely control the electromagnetic energy absorption according to the complex orientation of the device or the circuit. In order to overcome this problem, magnetic fine metal particles having a very high solids ratio are required in terms of material shape, and metal particle orientation / dispersion technology in the absorbent material is essential. On the other hand, in addition to the high directivity of electronic components, in the electromagnetic wave absorber, it is an important issue to effectively control the heat generated on the chip in the process of absorbing the incident electromagnetic wave energy is converted into heat. Therefore, it is important to design the ultra-thin electromagnetic wave absorbing material according to the angular ratio of the magnetic particles in the magnetic composite, its technical difficulty is very high.

- FIG. 6 and 7 show changes in the magnetic permeability of the real part and the imaginary part of the magnetic permeability used to evaluate the absorbency characteristics.
- the real part of permeability specifies the value before resonance occurs and the imaginary part uses the maximum value at the frequency at which resonance occurs.

- the complex dielectric constant is fixed to the real part 1 and the imaginary part 0 as a constant without frequency characteristics, assuming that the dielectric loss of the absorber is negligible because the near-field absorption characteristic is dominated by the permeability more than the permittivity of the complex. It was.
- the absorption capacity shows a low insertion loss in the region lower than the ferromagnetic resonance frequency and shows a high absorption capability in the resonance frequency region. Since the power loss is proportional to frequency, even though the permeability is small in the high frequency region, the absorption loss is relatively higher in the low frequency region. - (c) is a case where the content of magnetic particles is 30% by volume
- (d) is the case where the content rate of magnetic particle is 40 volume%.
- the magnetic permeability contains a lot of magnetic particles and the alignment is good, but there is a limit to increase the magnetic particle content in the composite, and the composite has a high permeability at low frequency, which is the opposite of the power loss proportional to the frequency. It is difficult to improve absorption due to the characteristics.
- Inserting a conductive grid in the form of a mesh into the magnetic composite transmits electromagnetic waves along the grid to the entire composite along with the dielectric loss, and thus magnetic losses occur throughout the composite, thereby dramatically improving the absorption capacity.
- the effect on the change of absorbing capacity according to the parameters such as the distance, position, size, and material of the conductive grid was analyzed.

- (a) indicates a grid space of 4 mm ⁇ 4 mm
- (b) shows a grid space of 2 mm ⁇ 2 mm
- (c) shows a grid distance of 1 It is a case of mm x 1 mm
- (d) is a case where there is no grid.
- the reflection coefficient increases by several tens of dB due to the electromagnetic wave reflection effect of the conductive grid, and the absorption coefficient decreases by several dB on average.
- the absorption capacity of the air-grid was 77% at the grid interval of 4 mm, whereas the maximum absorption at the 1 mm interval was shown. Confirmed.
- the grid line located 4 mm outward from the grid line at the center of the signal line is the nearest grid line.
- the electromagnetic field is concentrated in the range of several millimeters outward from the corner located 2.2 millimeters from the center of the signal line. In the case of the 4mm grid, it is 1.8mm outside the edge of the signal line, so that it is located within the concentration range of the electromagnetic field. Therefore, it seems that the electromagnetic wave supplied from the transmission line is effectively induced into the magnetic material so that absorption occurs well.
- the grid spacing is 4 mm
- the distribution of the magnetic field (H-field) on the surface of the magnetic thin film according to the grid material and the frequency can be seen in FIG. 59.
- FIGS. 32-34 When the grid spacing is set to 7.5 mm, 15 mm, and 30 mm, no grid forming the outermost edge of the grid exists.
- the results of absorbency analysis for this grid spacing are shown in FIGS. 32-34.
- 32 to 34 (a) indicates a grid space of 30 mm x 30 mm, (b) shows a grid space of 15 mm x 15 mm, and (c) shows a grid space of 7.5 It is a case of mm x 7.5 mm, and (d) is a case where there is no grid.
- the grid spacing is 7.5 mm, the absorbance is up to 64%, but if the gap is larger, the absorbance is drastically reduced by 13 mm away from the grid line signal line closest to the signal line.
- the frequency band that causes absorption is very narrow (0.5 kHz for magnetic materials only), but when the grid is applied, the band is 4 kHz or more, with low insertion loss up to 1 kHz and high absorption ability in all subsequent frequency bands. It works as an absorbent material.

- interval is 5 mm x 5 mm.
- Table 2 is a table comparing the absorption capacity according to the grid spacing of the Cu grid composite when the signal line width of the microstrip line is 2mm.
- the signal line width is 2 mm
- the signal line edge is 1 mm from the center and the signal line closest outward from the edge is 1 mm from the edge when the grid spacing is 2 mm.
- the maximum absorption capacity is reached and the maximum absorption capacity reaches 94%.
- a grid spacing of 4 mm shows a maximum absorption of 80% and a higher overall absorption capacity than a signal line of 4 mm.
- Table 3 below shows the absorption capacity according to the change in width when the length of the grid spacing of the Cu grid composite is 4 mm.
- the maximum absorption capacity is 77%, which is the same as in the case of square grids in which the grid gap lengths change simultaneously. This means that the grid gap length direction is not affected.
- FIGS. 41 to 43 and Table 4 The results of fixing the width of the grid gap to 4 mm and increasing the length from 1 mm to 5 mm are shown in FIGS. 41 to 43 and Table 4.
- the maximum absorption capacity was changed from 75% to 78%, so the length of the grid gap was absorbed. It can be confirmed again that it does not have a significant effect on the. 41 to 43, (a) shows the case where the grid space length is 1 mm, (b) shows the case where the grid space length is 2 mm, and (c) shows the length of the grid space. 4 mm, and (d) is the case where the length of a grid space
- Table 4 below shows the absorption capacity according to the change in length when the width of the grid gap of the Cu grid composite is 4 mm.
- the parallel grid lines among the grid lines parallel to the signal lines parallel to the signal lines play a more important role in guiding electromagnetic waves into the magnetic thin film and causing absorption.
- the grid can be designed according to the signal line layout of the actual circuit to create a custom grid composite to maximize the noise reduction effect.
- Table 5 below shows the comparison of the absorption capacity according to the grid line thickness of the Cu grid composite.
- the absorption capacity is up to 89% and the thicker the absorption capacity is gradually decreased.
- the optimum grid thickness depends on the frequency, with a lower absorption than other thick grid lines at 3 ⁇ m thick.
- the electromagnetic wave propagated from the microstrip signal line becomes weaker as it moves away from the signal line, so the distance between the absorber and the signal line will be an important variable.
- the position of the grid in the magnetic thin film is expected to have a great influence on the absorption capacity.
- the distance from the bottom of the magnetic thin film to the bottom of the grid is defined as the grid position (height), and the height is increased from 0 ⁇ m to 80 ⁇ m, and the effects on the absorbency are analyzed and the results are shown in FIGS. 47 to 49 and Table 6, respectively. Presented in graphs and figures.
- Table 6 below shows the comparison of the absorption capacity according to the grid position (height) of the Cu grid composite.
- the maximum absorption capacity is shown, and the fact that the distance from the signal line shows that the reflection by the grid has a greater effect than the effect of decreasing the electromagnetic wave strength. If the grid is located at the bottom of the magnetic thin film, the reflection is largely initially generated, which greatly reduces the electromagnetic wave flowing into the magnetic material, thereby decreasing the absorption ability.
- 50 to 52 show the results of analyzing the absorbency while fixing the length in the grid size and decreasing only the width from 40 mm to 16 mm.
- 50 to 52 (a) is a case where the grid size (width) is 40 mm x 16 mm, (b) is a case where the grid size (width) is 40 mm x 24 mm, and (c) is a grid size.
- (Width) is a case where 40 mm x 32 mm, and (d) is a case where grid size (width) is 40 mm x 40 mm.
- the size of the magnetic composite remains unchanged and the grid width is reduced, the magnetic thin film outside the grid width does not generate induced current by the grid.
- the absorption capacity is reduced, so that when the width is 16 mm, 50% of the absorption capacity is exhibited near 2 mW.
- the smaller the size of the grid shell the more resonant phenomena should be at higher frequencies, and the second peak of the two characteristic frequencies of the grid did not appear within the range of 6 ⁇ , 32 mm, and 16 mm at 32 mm. After that, the higher frequencies can be used to confirm the presence of the second peak. For now, it is advantageous to fill the entire magnetic coalesce with a grid.
- the electrical conductivity of the grid has a big influence on the absorption capacity because it directly affects the induced current formation.
- the electrical conductivity of the grid is reduced from 6 ⁇ 10 7 simens / m, which is the electrical conductivity of Cu, to 6 ⁇ 10 4 simens / m, and the effects on the absorption capacity are presented in graphs and figures in FIGS. 53 to 55 and Table 7, respectively. It was.
- Table 7 below shows the absorption capacity according to the grid electrical conductivity of the Cu grid composite.
- the absorption capacity was analyzed using Ni as the grid with a relative permeability of 600 and a conductivity of 1.5 ⁇ 10 7 simens / m, which is 1/4 of the Cu conductivity.
- Cu has a small difference in relative permeability, but is smaller than 1 to be diamagnetic, whereas Ni is ferromagnetic.
- the absorbency of the Ni grid was compared with the Cu grid.
- Ni grids are already 75% absorbent by the air-grid, and in the magnetic composites, the absorbency is increased by 10 to 20% by the magnetic material. This fact seems to be attributable to Ni's high permeability.
- the magnetic field is not distributed along the grid lattice at 0.2 Hz.
- the magnetic field is strongly distributed along the grid grid whether it is an air-grid or inserted into a magnetic body. This fact means that the Ni grid exhibits its own resonance at 5 kHz. Based on the absorbency results, it can be inferred that the magnetic field is distributed more strongly at 4GHz. Since 1.2 GHz is near the magnetic resonance frequency, both Ni and Cu show comparable magnetic field strengths.
- the Cu grid has a weak magnetic field in the air-grid state at 5 ⁇ s and shows a strong magnetic field when in the magnetic body. At this frequency, the dielectric effect by the Cu grid and the magnetic effect by the magnetic material appear to be the best combination.
- FIG. 60 to 62 (a) is a case where the thickness of the grid composite is 250 ⁇ m, (b) is a case where the thickness of the grid composite is 200 ⁇ m, (c) is a case where the thickness of the grid composite is 150 ⁇ m and (d) are cases where the thickness of the grid composite is 100 ⁇ m.
- Table 8 below shows the comparison of the absorption capacity according to the thickness of the Cu grid composite.
- the absorption capacity increases as the thickness increases in the frequency region larger than the resonance frequency, and in general, even if the thickness increases beyond the critical thickness, the effect on the absorption capacity is minimal.
- the increase in the thickness increases the absorption capacity, but it seems to be already saturated at about 150 ⁇ m. This is because the effect of the grid is dominant, so the magnetic thickness does not seem to have a significant effect.
- FIGS. 63 to 65 In order to analyze the effect of magnetic resonance frequency on the absorption capacity, the same permeability values are shown as in FIGS. 63 to 65, and the absorption capacity is analyzed for the case where only the resonance frequency is 0.5 GHz, 1 GHz, 2.5 GHz and the results are shown in FIGS. 68 is shown.
