DESIGN FOR A CARPET.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 12,959, dated June 6, 1882. Application tiled April 22. 1882. Terni of patent 3 years.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, WILLTAM MCGALLUM, of Yonkers, in the county ot' Westchester and State of New York, have invented a new and original Design for Carpets, of which the following is a specication.

This invention relates toa new and original design for carpets and similar fabrics; and it consists in the novel grouping and configuration of parts hereinafter more fully described.

The accompanying photograph illustrates a face View of a carpet having my new design.

The band A contains a series of diagonal stripes, between which are set a series of leafy branches, running diagonally in the same direction as the stripes.

The stripe B contains at its upper portion an ornamentation consisting of the leafy figure d and the figure a, resembling a bunch of flowers, both contained in a panel formed between a vertical band, b, at each side and the horizontal bands A and D at the top and bottom, respectively, the band D at the bottom containing an ornamentation ot' circular iigures with open centers, having a series of arches above them.

The stripe E is ornaniented with a series of panels, e, in the form of windows, circular at the tops, each containing a flower-like figure therein and set in a series, alternating with figures f, each resembling a plant with a central fiower set upon a stem growing out of a flower on each side ot' its base.

The band F, below the stripe B, contains an angular ornamentation resembling the teeth ot' a saw.

I claim- 1. The design for carpets, consisting of the band A, substantially as shown.

2. The design for carpets, consisting of the 40 stripe B, containing bands b and D and figures d and ai, substantially as shown.

3. The design for carpets, consisting of the figures d, a, and b, substantially as shown.

4. The design for carpets, consisting of the stripe E, containing figures fand c, substantially as shown.

5. The design for carpets, consisting of the band F, substantially as shown.

6. The design for carpets, consisting of thc 5o band F and stripe E, substantially as shown.

7. The design for carpets, consisting of the band A, stripe B, containing figures d, a, b, and D, stripe E, containing figures fand e, and band F, substantially as shown.
