MILTON R. LOUDEN, OF JERSEY CITY, NEV JERSEY, ASSIGNOR TO THE BlG-ELOV CARPET COMPANY,
OF CLINTON, MASSACHUSETTS.
DESIGN FOR A CARPET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 12,544, dated October 25, 1881.
Application filed July 29, 18H1. Term of patent 3% years.
To all whom it may concern,.-
Be it known that I, MILTON R. LoUDEN, of Jersey City, Hudson county, State of New Jersey, have invented a new and original Dcsign for Carpets, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a new and original design for carpets and similar fabrics; and it consists in the novel grouping and configuration of figures hereinafter more fully described.
The accompanying photograph illustrates a face view of a carpet having my new design.
The background of this carpet has small T- shaped dots upon it, which appear clearly on the photograph. Upon the background so dotted are placed the several figures D, E, F, G, a, and b, said figures being so grouped with reference to each other that in a lozenge-like figure having in its angles four figures, D, there would be a figure, F, in the upper right and lower left side, a figure, G, in the upper left and lower right side, a figure, E, in the ccnter, a figure, b, to the left of E, and a figure, a, to the right of E. These figures are of the configuration shown. f The figure D has projecting downward on a short stem a ratchetwheel-shaped figure, with beads in several of its corners, while from the right of the figure D projects on a stem a peculiar leaf, and beyond that is another stein, which in turn has a downwardlyprojecting cluster of leaves at the right. The figure E has a peculiar leaf on an angular stem, and projecting from this leaf a spray with a rosette-like flower, and further smaller leaves projecting therefrom. The figure F has at its lower part a rosette with leaves at the right and left thereof, said rosette having a vertical stein that appears to rise from a cup-shaped or saucer-like figure. From the upper end of the stem of this rosette projects diagonally to the right a longer stem bearing at its ends a conventional flower, and a conventional leaf of peculiar shape, and having in its center a prominent rosette, as
| shown. The figure G has at its left and upper end a rosette, and from the saine extends a stem to the right, on which stem are series of conventional leaves and flowers. Thistle-like fioral ornaments connect also with the lower part of the figure G, as shown. The figure a is a forked branch of conventional flowers, and the figure b represents a rosette-like flower on a stem having a downwardly-projecting leaf at its lower end, whilc-othcr leaves project upward and to the right of the rosette. The figure b connects with the figure G by coming in contact with one thistle-like ornament of the figure G. The figure D also comes in contact with the figure G by reaching to said thistle-like ornaments. All the other figures are isolated from each other.
