NORIC KOMORI, OF NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR TO THE BIGELOW CARPET COMPANY, OF CLINTON, MASSACHUSETTS.
DESIGN FOR A CARPET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 17,852, dated November 1,1887.
Application filed August 30, I887.
To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, Nome KOMORI, of New York city, in the county and State of New York, have invented anew and original Design for Carpets, of which the following is a specification, reference being bad to the accompanying photograph, which forms a part of the same.
The invention relates to a design to he to worked into or upon surfaces, such as carpets or similar fabrics; and it consists in the novel configuration and grouping of figures herein specifically shown and claimed.
The accompanying photograph is a face view i5 of a carpet showing my new design.
My design comprises a body portion and a border, E.
The bod portioncnnsisis of several figures, which are grouped or disposed upon the face of the carpet, as shown.
Figure A is a flower and leafgroup having a large circular flower at; its upper and middle portiou,with pointed leavesrmliating from the center. On one side of this central flower is a similar flower form less prominent and partly underlying the former. On the other side of the figure is another flower form. 13eneath these flowers are leaves, below which project a series of stems. Several smaller circolor flowers appear among the leaves, and at the top and sides of the figure there are projecting stems supporting bulbs or blossoms.
Figure B is a smaller group having a prominenteireular flower with pointed radiating leaves at one side. At the center of the figure there are several smaller flower forms, around and under which is a body-work of leaves. Stems project from thelower side bearing separate leaves and small flowers. Other atoms 0 project from the top supporting bulb-like forms.
Figure 0 is agroup of flowers and leaves and stems having a prominent flower form at the top with its leaves clearly marked, and
around this several smaller flower forms, some showing atop or face view of the flower, others aside view. At the left of the figure is another small flower form supported on a stem.

Leaves are spread out underneath the flowers, and stems project from the group, some sup- 5o porting bulb forms.
Figure l) is a triangularshaped group haw ing a large central flower form with pointed radiating leaves. On one side are two other Smaller flower forms, one partly hidden. Au- 5 other small flower form is shown on the other side. The flowers are supported on a body work of leaves and stems, some of the latter bearing bulbs or small flowers.
The border E has an inner margin of small ornamental work. The middle portion of the border consists of a stem having several branches, some branches supporting large circular flower terms and smaller circular flowers and leaves like those of the body portion, and 6 other branches bearing small circular flowers and buds and leaves. A few of the small circular flowers are scattered separately here and there between the stems. The outer margin of the border is ornamented with an irregular 7o stem work here and there ofa scroll-like i'orm, bearing groups of long-pointed leaves. This outer margin iserossed by lines or hands of color.
