To all whom it nmy concern:

Be it known that I, J ULIUS S. MEYER, of New York city, in the State of New York, have invented a new and original Design for Carpets, of which the following is aspecification, reference being bad to the accompanying photograph, which forms a part of the same.

The invention relates toa design to be worked into or upon surfaces, such as carpets or similar fabrics; and it consists in the novel configuration and grouping of figures herein specifically shown and claimed.

The accompanying photograph is a face View of a carpet, showing my new design.

The more prominent groups of the design are the groups lettered A, B, and O in the photograph.

The group A is shown at the left center and the right lower corner of the photograph. It includes a central flower and leaf group and four underlying figures, a large rosette below to the right, an octagonal figure on the left and oneon the right, and an ornamented square above on the right.

The group B is at the right. of the group A. It consists of a central flower and leaf mass, an open spray of flag-like leaves and small flowers above, and four underlying figures, a large ornamented square figure on the right, a small square on the left, a very small gem figure above the central flower mass, and a square Greek-letter figure below, partly encircled by a blossom-spray.

The group 0 consists of three parts. The

centralrnass is shown in the lower center of the photograph. It consists of two large open flowers on a mass of leaves with projecting leaf and blossom sprays, a Greek-letter figure above, an octagonal figure on the left, and a. figure resembling net-work below. The second part of the group C is below the central mass, and is shown at the upper and lower edges of the photograph. It is connected with the cen tral mass, and includes a flower and leaf mass and two square figures. The third part of the group C is above the central mass and to the left. It is shown at the right upper corner of the photograph. It is connected with the central mass of the group, and consists of a flower and leaf mass with a square figure on the leaf and a pointed-border ornament below.

Smaller groups and figures, as shown in the photograph, fill the spaces between the groups described.

I claim 1. The design fora carpet, consisting of the group A, substantially asshown and described.

2. The design for a carpet, consisting of the group B, substantially as shown and described.

3. The design for a carpet, consisting of the group C, substantially as shown and described.

4. The design for a carpet, consisting of the groups A B C and the intervening groups and figures, substantially as shown and described.
