JAMES L. FOLSOM, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK, ASSIGNOR TO THE HARTFORD CARPET COMPANY, OF HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT.
DESIGN FO SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 17,622, dated August 9, 1887. Application filed June 15, IP87. Serial No. 524L452. Term of patent 3} years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JAMES L. FoLsoM, of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented a new and original.
5 Design for Carpets, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the ac companying photograph, which forms a part of the same.
The invention relates to a design to be worked into or upon surfaces, such as carpets or similar fabrics; and it consists in the novel configuration and grouping of figures herein specifically shown and claimed.
The accompanying photograph is a face view I ofa carpet showing my new design.
My design consists of several figures differing somewhat in character and outline arranged upon any suitable groundwork.
Figure A consists of an eccentric scrollwork forming the greater part of the outline of the figure, upon which rests a mass or group of small leaves and flowers. Figure B (shown at the lower right-hand corner and the left middle portion and upper right-hand corner of the photograph) consists of a central portion inelosed by scroll-work which is surmounted by a cluster of roses and leaves. Figure C (shown at the upper and lower lefthand corners and right middle portion of the stems forming a scroll-Work and a spray of roses and leaves. Each of these figures has a central part ornamented with small geometric figures. Between these figures a few starshaped-fiower forms are interspersed.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. The design for carpets, consisting of figure A, substantially as shown.
2. The design for carpets, B, substantially as shown.
3. The design for carpets, consisting of the figure C, substantially as shown.
4. The design for carpets, consisting of the figures A, B, and C and the interspersed flowers, substantially as shown.
