Application filed January 26, 1888. Serial No. 262.061. Term of patent (it years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, JAMES L. FoLsoM, of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented a new and original Design for Carpets, of which the following is a specification. reference being had to the accompanying photograph, which forms apart of the same.
The invention relates to a design to be worked into or upon surfaces. such as carpets or similar fabrics; and it consistsin the novel configuration and grouping of figures herein specifically shown and claimed.
The accompanying photograph is a face view of a carpet showing my new design.
My design consists, principally, of a number of circular flower forms connected by a vinework, which also supports intervening leaf forms and bunches-of-frnit forms or pebblelike ornamentation. The flower forms have a 20 cup-shaped flower center surrounded by long and slender and pointed petals or flower-leaves. These flower forms are shown in various positions, some in full, others in profile. The pebbled or fruit work is gathered in very ir- 25 regular masses around diiferent parts of the vine-work or the flower forms. Between the flower forms are separate leaves occurring at intervals along the vine-work.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure 0 by Letters Patent, is
The design for carpets, consisting of the de sign substantially as shown.
J AS. L. FOLSOM.
