SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 18.134, dated March 6, 1888.

To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, JAMES L. FoLsoM, of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented a new and original Design for Carpets. of which the following is aspecification, reference being bad to the accompanying photograph, which forms a part of the same.
The invention. relates to a design to be worked into or upon surfaces, such as carpets or similar fabrics; and it consists in the novel configuration and grouping of figures herein specifically shown and claimed.
The accompanying photograph isa face view of a carpet showing my new design.
My design is a composite design consisting of an assemblage of flower, leaf, and geometrical forms of varied size and character, arranged in a more orless irregular manner. The flower forms are generally circular or oval in form. At one part of thedesign is cellular-like ornamentation. Achecker or lattice work is shown in different places, having small ornamental figures in the blocks or squares. Here and there are small portions of borderwork of varying character. Scroll forms also occur among the other figures. At the middle of the design is a line-work ornamentation producing a. watered effect.
