Application filed January '26, 1888. Serial No. 262.059. Term of patent 3Q years.
To all whom it may concern;
Be it known that I, JAMES L. FOLSOM, of Brooklyn. in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented a new and original Design for Carpets, of which the following is a specification, referencebeing had to the accompanying photograph, which forms a part of the same.
The invention relates to a design to be worked into or upon surfaces, such as carpets or similar fabrics; and it consists in the novel configuration and grouping of figures herein specifically shown and claimed.
The accompanying photograph is a face view of a carpet showing my new design.
My design consists of an assemblage of flower and leaf and geometrical forms of a. greatlyvaried order, all arranged in a more or less irregular manner upon a lattice-like ground. The flower forms are generally circular in out 20 line and conventionalized in character. The leaf forms are for the most part small and less prominently marked. Here and there in the design appearscroll shaped forms, either singly or in groups. Between these various forms is a ground-work of a small geometrical character having the general appearance of a latticework ornamented with geometrical forms.
\Vhat I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
30 The design for carpets, consisting of the design substantially as shown.
