Be it known that I, HENRY HUNT, of Greenville, New Jersey, have invented a new and original Design for Carpets, of which the following is a specification, reference being bad to the accompanying photograph, which forms a part of the same.

The invention relates to a design to be worked into or upon surfaces, such as carpets or similar fabrics; and it consists in the novel configuration and grouping of figures herein specifically shown and claimed.

The accompanying photograph is a face view of a carpet showing my new design.

My design is composed of a large number of geometrical forms, some resembling conventionalized leaves and flowers and others being composite in character. One prominent figure (shown partly at the upper right-hand portion and partly at the lower left-hand portion of the photograph) is shaped like an oval leaf, and has its central portion ornamented with small figures and its edge serrated. Around its upper part is a row of cross forms. From its base projects on either side an angular stem- 25 work supporting small geometrical forms. At the upper part of the photograph is shown a conical figure, consisting of bars or hands resting upon one another, with inclined projecting arms at the sides and ornamental forms 30 at the top. From the base of this figure projects on either side a bracket-like work supporti ng small ornamental forms. Several large oval'or elliptical figures ofaconventional character occur at different places. The rest of 35 the design consists of smaller figures of variousforms, most of which are connected by an inconspicuous stem-work or bracket-work.

What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

Tue design for carpets, consisting of the design substantially as shown.
