DESIGN FOR A CARPET.
SPECIFICATIONformlng part of Design No. 17,731, dated September 20, 1887.
Application filed August 16, i887. Serial No. 247,120. Term of patent 31, years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, Nome KOMORI, of New York city, in the county and State of New York, haveinvented a new and original Design for Carpets, ofwhich the following is aspecification, reference being bad to the accompanying photograph, which forms a part of the same.
The invention relates to a design to be worked into or upon surfaces, such as carpets or similar fabrics; and it consists in the novel configuration and grouping of figures herein specifically shown and claimed.
The accompanying photograph is a face view of a carpet showing my new design.
My design comprises a body part, A, and a border, B.
The body part Ais made up of a number of sprays or stems of an irregular curving or twisting form, bearing flowers and leaves, all disposed at intervals over the face of the carpet upon a ground ornamented with light skeleton leaf and stem work. The separate sprays of the pattern in most cases have one large prominent'circnlar flower and one or more buds or partly-opened blossoms. One spray supports a large bulb-like flower form. Another has a flower form with its outer leaves extended, but the inner ones closed around the center of the flower. There are some smaller sprays with one or two small flowers or buds. 0
gin of the border has at its lower edge a wav- 40 ing line of stems and narrow leaves, from which short stems project upward, supporting round fruit-like forms.
\Vhat I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
