DESIGN FOR A CARPET.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 12,413, dated August 16, 1881.

Application filed July 14, 1881. Term of patent 3} years.

To all whom it may concern:

Be t known that I, ARTHUR L. HALLIDAY, of Yonkers, in the county of Westchester and State of New York, have invented a new and original Design for Carpets, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to a new and original design for carpets and similar fabrics; and it consists in the novel grouping and configuration oi figures hereinafter more fully described.

The accompanying photograph illustrates a face view of a carpet having my new design.

The figure a is a stripe containing a series of bars set parallel with each other and perpendicular to the length of the strips.

The figure B is a stripe parallel to the stripe 1:, containing an ornamental pattern of figures resembling small shrubs or flowers set in regular order.

The figures 6, contained principally in the stripe B and partly in the stripe A, resemble crosses with arms ofcqual length.

The stripe A contains the figure b, composed of acenterof open roses with projectingleaves, sprays, and branches.

. The branch 0, projecting from the figure 1), extends into the stripe B, and consists ot' a bunch of flowers set on a stem.

The figure f projects from one of the crosses e, and consists in a leafy branch with a flower resembling the spokes of a wheel at its end. From the other figure 6 projects the figure 0,

a leafy branch interspersed with mossy sprays.

The figure I consists of a central leaf-like figure with projecting branches and leaves.

The figure 9 is a stripe containing a series of parallel bars running across it.

The figure bextends into the stripe g and occupies the middle thereof.
