JOHN NEIL, OF NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR TO THE BIGELOW CARPET COMPANY, OF CLINTON, MASSACHUSETTS.
DESIGN FOR CARPET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 11,849, dated July 6, 1880.
Application tiled March 26, 1880. Term of patent 3i years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JGHN NEIL, of New YorkA city, in the county and -State of New York, have invented a new and original Dcsign for Carpets, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a new and original design for carpets, oilcloths, and similar fabrics.
It consists in a novel grouping and conignration of figures, hereinafter more fullv described and claimed.
The accompanying photograph illustrates a face View of a carpet having my new design.
On the background of' the carpet are parat lel longitudinal stripes a, crossing t-hc various groups and figures, and showing their patterns where they cross. B is a field inclosed by arabesque ornamental figures C D. Said field is thickly strewn with leaflets and flowers.
E is a field inclosed between the arabesque figure D and an angular 15m-der, b. F is a field, partly inclosed by borders b d e. K is an arabesque figure, a branch, f, of which overlies the side field, F, and with branches springing out from it and terminating in fiowers. G is a eld, partly inclosed by borders (l g, and traversed by flowering and leafy branches h. His a. field inclosed by borders g and arabesque ornaments C K. branches of' which extend into said field.
I claim- 1. The design for a carpet which consists in the field B and arabesque figures or ornaments C D, substantially as shown.
2. The design for a carpet which consists in the field E and arabesque figure or ornament l) and border b, substantially as shown.
3. The designl'or a carpet which consists In the field F, borders b, d, and e, and arabcsque figure or ornament K f, and branches and flowers, substantially as shown.
4.. The design for a carpet which consists in the field G and flowery and leafy branch h., substantially as shown.
5. The design for a carpet which consists in the field G, brauch h, and borders d g, sub stantially as shown.
6. The design for a carpet which consists in the field H, borders g I', and arabesques C K, substantially as shown.
7. The design for a carpet which consists in the arabesque figures or ornaments C D f K, tie-lds B E F G H, borders b d e g i, stripes c, and the interspersed leaves and flowers on the background of the carpet, substantially as shown.
