Be it known that I, \VILLIAM T. Gonon, of Yonkers, county of \Vestchester, and State of New York, have invented a new and original Design for Carpets, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying photograph, which forms a part of the same.

The invention relates to a design to be worked into or upon surfaces, such as carpets or similar fabrics; and it consists in the novel configuration and grouping of figures herein specifically shown and claimed.

Theaccompanying photograph is a face view of a carpet showing my new design.

My design is adapted for the border of a stair-carpet. It hasanarrow inner margin of Serial No. 249,313.

Above this is a line of large circular leaves, in the angular spaces between which are line ornaments below and star shaped flowers above. Over each of the large leaves is a smaller leaf of the same character, and above each of the star shaped flowers is a less prominent flower form of similar outline.

What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

The design for a carpet-border, consisting of the design substantially as shown.
