Application lllCll February 25, 1887. Serial No. 228.893. Term of patent :19; years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, JAMES L. FoLsoM, a citizen of the United States, residing in Brooklyn, county of Kings, State of New York, have invented a new and original Design for Car pets, of which the following is a specification, reference being bad to the accompanying photograph, which forms a part of the same. The invention relates to a design to be worked into or upon surfaces, such as carpets or similar fabrics; and it consists in the novel configuration and grouping of figures herein specifically shown and claimed.
The accompanying photograph is a face view of a carpet showing my new design.
The design consists of the figures or groups A, B, and C, as shown in the photograph.
The group A, found at the upper and lower parts of the photograph, is a large cluster of flowers and leaves, having a large flower figure projecting below on the left; and below on the right a cluster of three smaller flowers projecting from between two flag-like leaves. Above, on the right, is a leaf and fern spray with small star-shaped flowers.
The group B, found at the right and left edges of the photograph, is similar in general shape and size to the group A; but it has a large stanshaped flower below on the left and a similar one below on the right and a more open leaf and flower cluster above on the left.
The group 0, found in the center of the photograph, is a smaller group of flowers and leaves with projecting moss sprays. It is found substantially repeated in the group shown at the four corners of the photograph.
' What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. The design forcarpets, consisting of the group A, substantially as shown and described.
2. The design for carpets, consisting of the group B, substantially as shown and described.
3. The design for carpets, consisting of the group G, substantially as shown and described.
4. The design for carpets, consisting of the groups A and B and the groups C, substantially as shown and described.
' J AS. L. FOLSOM.
