To all whom it may vconcern.-
Be it known that I, ARTHUR L. HALLIDAY, of New York city, in the county and State of New York, have invented a new and original 5 Design for Carpets, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the occompanying photograph, which forms a part of the same.
The invention relates to a design to be 10 worked into or upon surfaces, such as carpets or similar fabrics; and it consists in the novel configurationand grouping of figures herein specifically shown and claimed.
The accompanying photograph is a face view ,15 of a. carpet showing my new design.
My design is divided up into separate panels or parts by means of a partial stemwork, rows of small ornamental figures, and other ornamental lines, which serve to mark ofi the dif- 20 ferent panels from one another. In the spaces between the panels are conventional flower forms, large and small, and a variety of ornamental forms partly geometrical in character. The panels themselves are of difierent sizes and irregular outllnes being bounded in part 25 by short right lines perpendicular to each other, forming a block-like outline, and at other parts by curving lines. Some of the panelshavea pnrtinl border of flowers. The panels are ornamented with conventional 0 flower and leaf forms and geometrical ornaments of varied character. One panel has prominently placed at its center s group of conventional flower orleniforms, partly scrollshaped in character, supported on stems.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The design for carpets, consisting of the dcsign substantially asshown.
ARTHUR L. HALLIDAY.
