DESIGN FOR A CARPET.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 20,272, dated November 4, 1890. Application filed October 10, 1890. Serial No. 367,629- Term of patent 3% years- To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, HENRY NV. PARTON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Yonkers, \Vestchester county, New York, have in- 5 vented a new and original Design for Carpets,

of which the following isaspecification, reference being had to the accompanying photograph, which forms a part of the same.

The invention relates to a design to be worked into or upon surfaces, such as carpets or similar fabrics; and it consists in the novel configuration and grouping of figures herein specifically shown and claimed.

The accompanying photograph is a face View of a carpet showing my new design.

My design consists of the body A and the border B. The body A is composed of large and small panels containing groups of irregnlar leaf and flower forms and partly surrounded by sprays of gem-shaped flowers and leaves. The border B is composed of an inner margin of conventional gem-shaped forms, a middle portion composed of a group of leaf and flower forms surmounted by sprays of leaves and gem-shaped flowers, and an outer margin of irregular shaded flower forms.

\Vhat I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

1. The design for carpets, consisting of the body A, substantially as shown.

2. The design for carpets, consisting of the border B, substantially as shown.

3. The design for carpets, consisting of the body A and the border B, substantially as shown.
